I'm trying to figure out how to differentiate the north from the south pole on a powerful magnet that isn't marked. I can tell where the poles are with metal shavings, but which one of the two is north???
Magnets have north and south poles. When you bring the north pole of one magnet near the north pole of another magnet, or the south pole of one magnet near the south pole of another magnet, they will push away from each other. This is because the magnets have what is called "magnetic fields" around them. Think of a magnetic field like a force field around a magnet. When two magnets with the same poles are brought close together, their magnetic fields interfere with each other. This interference creates a force that pushes the magnets apart. It's like trying to push two north ends of two magnets together, it just won't happen! On the other hand, when you bring the north pole of one magnet near the south pole of another magnet, or the south pole of one magnet near the north pole of another magnet, they will attract each other. This is because the magnetic fields of the two magnets line up and reinforce each other, creating a force that pulls the magnets together.
I was wondering the same. In alchemy blue is often negative, feminine, cold & to descend, while red is usually positive, masculine, hot & to rise. So I'm going with that for now!¡i¡!¡i¡!¡i¡!¡i
if I cut the magnet in middle , what will happen ? do they become tow pieces one for S and other for N where the magnets gain this power ? is it natural ?
If you will brawl a magnet 🧲 from middle it will still remain pair like there is a broken bar magnet there will be still north and south pole on it just the thing is it will not have the colour of North ⬆️ pole wich is red and the colour of south ⬇️ pole wich is blue

Place compass needles around now where the North pin points that is south pole and the other is north pole
Is there any explanation why the same pole can’t touch each other?

@@NGScience THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE EXPLANATION
Love u ❤
explained it better than my teacher does
Wonderfully explained 😊
But which side is positive and which is negative? How do you tell the difference?
