Yes it's true that seeing an elegant display of fireworks from a far and safe distance lit up by some professional crew somewhere else is one thing. It feels as though that only that crew is celebrating and you're just there to watch, but lighting it up yourself on the street or in your yard is another thing. You feel the adrenaline rush. All of a sudden, you feel that you're part of the celebration not just a spectator. New Year Celebration in the Philippines is priceless, and the best. :)
this is what i miss there! After the fireworks that's when you have your new years eve meal. Hot pandesal, mamon, ensaymada, puto bungbong, hot chocolate and other deserts. specially the throwing of money and see the kids go wild picking them up and the jumping around to show the joy of new year. The BEST!
London has one fireworks display happening at the eye. Metro Manila has fireworks literally everywhere. Hours of continuous fireworks by the government and private citizens starting as early as New years eve, 8pm to as late as 2am the next day. The city literally explosed with fireworks, everywhere you look. If we combine all those foreworks and put them at the eye, i doubt if that ferris wheel will survive to see another day :P
It's alright for London to present THE BEST fireworks display this year. In fact, that's the MOST ASTOUNDING opening salvo for a city proud to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
In their accompanying mixed music, they proudly say "LONDON!" 5 times, and "AUSTRALIA" for more than once. Sus! at ...
I think it would be better if they'll have a fireworks display concentrated in one place. It would look way much better and won't do much damage on the environment.
@pinaywanderer I was talking about different large groups, like TV networks to hold it in one place...to join altogether instead of contesting one another...even a great way to end division among Filipinos. I just wish we have a notable landmark to hold that, though. =D
@glenjoelscott I agree with you 100%, nakagisnan na natin ito since panahon pa ng mga ninuno natin, ngayong nasa hi - tech world na tayo ngayon pa ba ito ipagbabawal, it doesnt make sense.
@Evgenysiniysvyt This does not apply in the Philippines. Filipinos loves spectacular celebration of christmas and new year. Philippines is a massive country so can you imagine concetrating fireworks display in one place. It will look like a ghost town like some areas in Singapore where fireworks display only concentrates in Marina Bay area only. Take note also that Filipinos are fun people, we love everything spectacular.
the fuck we care about London and the best fireworks in the world that night.. do they have happiness like Philippines? HELL NO ! while the world only detonates 500 gram of fireworks to be safe.. we detonate 2000 grams in Philippines, LEGALLY. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
