It's because Regine is a lyric soprano Coloratura. The song "And I am Telling you" is a song popularized mostly by Black Diva's mostly are mezzo soprano with heavy, dark and big voices. Regine has a more sweet and feminine tone. So the common taste for this song is associated to that sounding voice. Having said that, Regine's extensive range is still evident, also her vocal pluses. I don't think Charice or Jessica can sing Regine's arrangement. They would otherwise crash the song down.

Regine at the peak of her career in the 90's had been offered to work and to try out in the US. she didnt take it as she was wise enough to know na wala naman talagang kinakagat na asian artists in US music mainstream. she also had an offer to work in broadway(nyc) and west end to train in london but again she declined as she do not see herself in the kind of discipline. Very experimental kasi si Regine. Despite declining all these offers, dahil nga Regine's talent was so decorated, kahit wala pang mga youtube ng panahon na yun, different international artists were so impressed by her that they had to fly to the philippines to collab with her. Kung baga home grown talent personified. Regines achievements, were not given to her by a silver platter. All was because of her talent. Charice on the other hand, excuse me lang sa sinasabi mong si charice nag worldwide kung hindi dahil sa youtube, at kung hindi dahil sa isang taga hanga na ginawa lahat para lang mapansin ni Oprah, would have not been known in the states. Hindi nga maka puno ng venue sa sarili niyang bansa. Unfortunately, her hype did not translate to charts and sales. nagflop yung album, hindi pa makapuno ng coliseum. And now pa guest guest nalang sa local settings. That makes her a TRUE TH-cam-SENSATION. Sensation that is. Talk abot real talent. Regine had it all in abundance. For 30 long years, and counting. Thats the difference between Regine and Charice. Asias Songbird and a TH-cam sensation.

Sportmanship and she was only like 15-16yrs old when she performed this at StarKing regardless if Regine was sick at this performance she has more experience and been singing this song for ages in short this is her signature song. however, overall performance among Regine Velasquez and Jessica Sanchez.
