    Well done, Blair. I got mine in 2008. It's powered by my second 3120. My first was fully woods ported way back in 2002, and is still going strong, all 13 horsepower, lol! There is no machine that can go where it can. period. I live in Wa, so I stop by and see Keith now and then when I need supplies.

    Dandy little rig, good for getting into tight places !
    One of my cousins has a place that's two acres and wanted some of the stumps taken out.
    She hired a man with one of those and he took out twenty seven in one afternoon ! 😊
    Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍

    we have one at where i work too and we use it for backyards we cant get a stump grinder in and also to chase roots while the main stump is getting ground somtimes. the stump grinder we use mainly is a carlton 7500 pull behind and it is a monster. only turbo diesel stump grinder ive ever seen. i think its got like 75-80 hp and has like a monster wheel on it. will eat a 4-5 foot hardwood stump in like 10 minutes if you know what your doing. ive seen alot of people who grind stumps that do it in a way that makes it take twice or three times as long as it needs. i start off to the side and come in deep and work from bottom to top unlike most people ive seen go from top to bottom. going from the bottom up is much smoother ive found

      adam clark I do hardwood stumps all the time. The depth of the grind is based on the clients needs and cost is also based on “how deep”. Large stumps are not easy but doable. The real value in this machine is tight quarter jobs. I also use this for planting. With full teeth, this digs a 15 gallon hole in minutes. Can’t compare this to a larger machine. I do make a LOT of money with it!

    Hey there. Ive talked with Alpine about these grinders recently. He tells me that the rock teeth work better in pine because the rakers of those chipper teeth tend to clog. I like the machine but this seems a little discouraging seeing as how the chipper teeth would cut more efficiently. I live in an area of southern Alabama with minimal rocks and a mixture of pine and hardwoods. It would be less than ideal for me to run rock teeth in pine and change out for hard woods. What is your take on this?

    • @arboristBlairGlenn
      @arboristBlairGlenn  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      WPOG84 I’ve owned and been the operator of this machine for 15 years. Works with pine but larger stumps take a long time. Rock teeth a bit tougher but you still need to start with sharp teeth on every larger stump. I can grind a 16 inch maple stump in about 35 minutes to 6 inches below ground

    • @wpog8453
      @wpog8453 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arboristBlairGlenn wow. Is maple that much harder than a hardwood like alder? The stump in your video looked to be 25 inches + and it took you 24 min.
      What I was asking about in the question above are your thoughts on cutting pine or similar wood with the chipper teeth and whether or not the rakers clog like Alpine suggests. He says that chipper teeth are for hardwoods and rock teeth cut better in Pine.
      Also, if you use the rock teeth, how much of a loss in performance do you experience?

    • @arboristBlairGlenn
      @arboristBlairGlenn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WPOG84 maple is much harder than Alder. Teeth clogging never been a problem with either. This is a machine that I still make good money with. Often as much as 200. An hour while grinding. Sharpening takes about fifteen minutes, complete tooth change in about 30 minutes. This machine has limitations but is well worth the investment.

    • @rbtree
      @rbtree 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arboristBlairGlenn Yees, I also shoot for $200/hr. But I will clear all around a stump with dull teeth sometimes, then change to sharp teeth. Ground is rocky here in the Puget Sound, region, so care is needed, as the Alpine needs sharp teeth to be fast.

  • @tymesho
    @tymesho 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    'it has limitations'.. yea, but how many times were we 'this close' to being able to trailer a stump grinder to where we need it? I like that bad boy. on the subject, where are you at on how deep to grind YOUR 'typical' stump? of course that home owner is going to want it completely gone, and I try to comply, even attempting to chase the roots. however, lets be realistic, a lot of stumps reach to China. I will normally go to at least 4" to 5", as you only need a couple 3" to grow grass....how about yourself Blair? (incidentally, I'm thinking you don't want to part with ANY of those nice staffs you create, I haven't heard anything from you about selling them, and look how patient I've been?), lol. remember we were discussing how to carve an individualized grip by using clay? well, I was browsing the hardware shop last week and found a product that I'm sure will work. it's a plasticized tape that is malleable when first applied, then hardens when dried, but not 'rock' stiff. all you do is apply, squeeze to form, and let it set overnight. kind of like a mouth guard you wet in hot water, bite down to form an impression of your teeth,...viola!
