Thank you sat103. Just what I was looking for today, as I just bought a 52 EX from Walmart a couple hours ago. I just need this for simple no frills driving instructions. Looks like I nailed it choosing this model!
Thanks for the tips. We just bought a 52EX to replace an old Garmin that occasionally has us driving in open fields. It's so old, updates were going to cost more than buying another. Still, it got us to where we wanted to be. I'm going to miss those turns that aren't there because it's now an expressway.
Thank you for this video (and the others on the 52 that I have yet to watch. I have a 52 on its way to me now, from Amazon). I also just bought the guide book you wrote on the 52 (Kindle). Based on this video I think I am getting the right GPS for me. (After many years and many models of Tom Tom)
Yesterday, I bought the Drive 52. What I need the most is a quick re-route calculation upon making a wrong turn off the pre-programed route. Today I deliberately took a wrong turn on my first test drive. I noticed the 52 didn't calculate a re-route. I don't recall that issue on the older Garmins. I've noticed the same issue with Waze. The re-route calculations are done on a remote Waze server. Depending on how busy the remote Waze server is determines how quickly your route is re-routed.
Thank you so much for your very in depth video of the Garmin 52 you showed a ton of very helpful information I had to subscribe and give a thumbs up on your video thanks again and happy holidays to you and your family
I was updating my Garmin Drive 51EX and after it finished I removed it from the computer. Then I touched the power button and it wouldn’t come on. I tried to charge it for an hour with a Garmin AC adapter and still nothing works. I removed the old battery from the Drive 51 and put in another battery (presumably good from a Drivesmart 55 and it measured 3.7v) and still it doesn’t come on. I tried to view it on the computer and it never shows up. I’m thinking the battery died when it was doing the update and maybe the software is corrupt. With the AC adapter connected again I measured 5V on the PCB in various places but I don’t get anything on the screen. Any suggestions on how to get it to work again? Thank you in advance! P.S. what’s your recommendation for a replacement battery (brand)?
Remove microSD card if present, charge battery for 1 hour, disconnect battery, disconnect screen ribbon cable and leave board sit for 1 hour. Reattach screen ribbon cable first, then battery second, press and hold power button for ~20 seconds for a force-reset to see if boot sequence starts. If not, try a different screen if you have one and repeat process. If with a different screen the unit will not boot, the board is most likely dead. I use Cameron Sino brand batteries, but battery doesn't matter if the screen won't come on.
Could you recommend a sat nav that shows all street names in side roads? i do deliverys and cant find a sat nav that shows enough detail to see the smaller street names
I bought this in amazon. After the payment and all. The package was declared UNDELIVERABLE by the courier. Reason wasn’t disclosed to me. So it was sent back to amazon. So frustrating i’ve been looking forward to have this.
@@BMW9661 it got damaged during transit so amazon replaced it. Just had to wait another month for the delivery. I have been using the product, so far so good.
Just purchased one and upgrading from a 50lm I don't like the screen and readability on the 52EX. Also, when sitting still for too long the words "GPS is off" comes up on the top of the screen. What's up with that?
Hello, might be a dumb question😅 but I just bought one for my uncle who does long trips. Will this work without wifi or cellular data, is it just satellite? I have never used one of these😅 If he is in a dead zone will it still work?
The Drive 52 works by literally communicating with GPS satellites in space. It does not use cellular or Wi-Fi at all. The signal bars at top left of the "Where To?" screen is the strength of the GPS signal.
If i get the GTM 36 cable for the traffic information, will it still work if i cut the cigarette connector and connect it direct to a power supply, i want to get the traffic info when i am using it on my motorcycle? Thanks ahead.
It would work but it's a terrible idea because you lose the fuse. On every engine start, a momentary power surge will happen, putting both the traffic receiver and the GPS at risk of being burnt up every time because there would be no fuse to protect it.

Any idea what the difference is between the Drive 52 and Drive 52EX ? Seems the Drive 52EX is exclusive to Walmart.
EX models are ordinarily retailer-only (like Walmart) models. Functionally, there is no difference between a 52 and a 52 EX.
@@sat103 Thank you. I've been trying to find the difference without luck, until now.
Is there a difference between garmin 52 drive and garmin 52 drive EX?
What do you mean byTraffic option?

Great review. Does this have voice activated. Voice commands?
Garmin Drivesmart 55 or drive 52? I'm still undecided.

Could you connect the phone's Bluetooth with Garmin GPS device for traffic update as well the car system for calls and music simultaneously?
With the 52, no. With the DriveSmart 66, 76 or 86, yes.
I have same Garmin. I have a chrome so , and it doesn't download where can I go
get it downloaded windows or mac?
Hey my 52 freezes please help
Your memory needs to be cleaned, or you need more memory.
No lane assist?
Are these good for cmv (big trucks)?
The 52 is meant for passenger cars. For trucks there is the Garmin dezl series www.garmin.com/en-US/p/765327
