Love how the band integrates traditional Japanese instruments into a rock band: Shakuhachi, Koto, Sanshin, Taiko drum, they all work so well and can be heard. Amy and the other lead singer blend like they've been singing together for 20 years. Both such pros.
Right, that is not an Okinawan Sanshin. It is a Futo-zao (Fat-rod) Shamisen. The play style is Tsugaru Shamisen. Nowadays, a Futo-zao accustomed to play Tsugaru Shamisen also called a Tsugaru Shamisen. Tsugaru is the northern tip of the main island of Japanese Islands, and that technique was born and raised in that region by travelling blind musicians.
That feeling when a singer gives way for another to perform her song, and then harmonizes along. While Amy is most definitely a star - it is the music that matters. Respect for the music and the deference she showed to not only the singer but the audience is such a classy move.
Really? I honestly feel like her voice sounds very restrained here. I don't know what happened with her, but a few years back her live performances were really awful but this is a marked improvement from what I've heard. Millenials and the older part of gen Z as well, as a '99 person myself I grew up with Evanescence, Three days grace, breaking benjamin,.. Barely have any common ground with the younger gen Z people
She didn't "change pitch" or "drop half an octave". She simply let Yuko sing the main vocal melody while she herself sang the 2nd vocals. (search for a 'vocals only' version of the song on YT if you need a demonstration)
She didn’t “change her pitch”. She’s putting her voice way in the back of her throat, so it changes her timbre but not her pitch. Actually it’s quite unhealthy....
These extra instruments really give this song a new, more haunting layer, also the voices are really nice together. Probably the best remix/cover of the original song to this date.
I don't know where you are from, but in my country (The US) if a person from a certain ethnicity wears an outfit from a certain different ethnicity, they label him/her as racist for some retarded reason, and they are too blind to se that if someone does that, they are simply expressing their interest in the aforementioned ethnicity, so what the hell is wrong with that?!

I cant believe i never saw this before! I've been a fan of Amy for years and also love Wagakki! Such an amazing rendition. Played this on repeat for like an hour haha
THIS IS WHAT THOSE FAN-MADE ANIME MVs WERE TRYING TO GO FOR. I LOVE IT.
Japanese discipline level: even watching concert they still cheering in order of line
😂😂😂
Hahaha XD they will end dominating the World haha
Thats because they are all sitting down xD
😅😅
Lol
this is.....jaw dropping!! i will wager Amy lee LOVED doing this!! what a great tribute to her and her song... the traditional Japanese instruments interwoven into symphonic and rock band instrumentation was magic....
That beat drop 1:16 and the traditional music instruments OMG
Same thoughts xD
Que dijo la buen ser humano
Bring Me To Life was * the * song for every millennial growing up. This is quite possibly one of the greatest performances of all time
Even older gen z
Listened to this song when I was a little 🥰
And ya can thank my gen x ma and dad for my music taste as well
I’m Gen X. Absolutely love this song, too. 🙂👍
Millenials and the older part of gen Z as well, as a '99 person myself I grew up with Evanescence, Three days grace, breaking benjamin,.. Barely have any common ground with the younger gen Z people
older-middle '05 kid here, bring me to life was and still is my jam!
This hits me everytime. Amy's voice is just amazing
Her voice is amazing!😍😍😍
Notice how Amy changed the pitch of her voice to suit the band better ? Wow
Changed her pitch? Mate she's dropped half an octave!
she didnt
She didn't "change pitch" or "drop half an octave". She simply let Yuko sing the main vocal melody while she herself sang the 2nd vocals. (search for a 'vocals only' version of the song on YT if you need a demonstration)
She didn’t “change her pitch”. She’s putting her voice way in the back of her throat, so it changes her timbre but not her pitch. Actually it’s quite unhealthy....
that's called "harmony"
These extra instruments really give this song a new, more haunting layer, also the voices are really nice together. Probably the best remix/cover of the original song to this date.
When Orchestra + Japanese instrumen + Emo = SOO DOPE🔥🔥
Evanescence is not emo, but yeah
Wow!
Amy and Yuko harmonize so well throughout! And Beni coming in on 1:14 was perfect. Everybody was perfect.
I like how the camera editor tried to show everyone in the band playing.
Why am I just hearing this for the first time? That was amazing!
Therapist: "Kimono Amy Lee isn't real, you can't fall in love with it."
Kimono Amy Lee:
I don't know where you are from, but in my country (The US) if a person from a certain ethnicity wears an outfit from a certain different ethnicity, they label him/her as racist for some retarded reason, and they are too blind to se that if someone does that, they are simply expressing their interest in the aforementioned ethnicity, so what the hell is wrong with that?!
@@arvingh5551 it really depends,if their using the cultural clothing because its “trendy” and don’t actually respect the culture while wearing the clothing like foxeye trend, then that is racist. If they are respecting the culture then its not racist.
@@arvingh5551 Well Amy is American... in this case I see nothing wrong cause she is joining in with a Japanese band.
@@arvingh5551 is it about the "cultural appropriation" thing? I thought it's only twitter people's issues
Just enjoy a beautiful piece of art without stamping ego identities all over it people. Just allow yourself to stop categorizing EVERYTHING and close your eyes...put your headphones on and let it take you to a place far far away from this place. That's the point.
Machiya did a great job here. Again!
Wagakki band is absolutely mind blowing! When do you guys come to Germany? ❤
That last note is a killer to hold. They both did so well.
Gorgeous harmony and good mixing on top of that.
When the guitar guy did his screaming part, a flood of emotions hit. So much badassery. Glad to have seen this!
Can we all take time and notice the audience's seemingly uniformed way of appreciating the music? their discipline is intense.
When 'Japan' is part of the equation, the result is always going to be something spectacular.
They sure do go all out in everything, at least theyre consistent
🧢
As Marty McFly said, all the good stuff comes from Japan.
0:33 Noooooooo!!! That Hit me soooo Hard!!! Literally gave me goosebumps!
Tbh Never thought Japanese and Gothic mix could ever sound soo good.. Damn
Amy always seems like she enjoys doing stuff outside traditional rock. I saw her tour with Lindsey Stirling and it was a great show.
Ahhh. . . Can we just appreciate the cultural exchange they did in this performance? I think it's adorable especially seeing it from Wagakki and Amy Lee. Such a soothing dark aura 🖤
This song is indeed another great musical journey to take on. Truly one of the best Eastern-Western music collab ever! (imo) 🖤🖤🖤
And noone is crying about cultural appropriation! Love it
DUUDDEEE THIS KILLS!!! I HAVE BEEN MISSING THIS!?!
