Brian answers tough questions on Hard Drive with Chris Mathewson www.kickstarter... Written and Directed by Dennis M. Miller pasadenajones.net/ Starring Mike Wilson as Chris Mathewson
To set the record straight... as the maker of this video... it was a combination of several people thrown into the mix. A bit of Matthews, a tad of O'Reilly, a chunk of Dennis Miller, and even a smidgen of Tom Leykis. We used Chris Mathewson because Hardball was close to Hard Drive. So everybody's right :)
I like this guy he got fucked over by allot of other game developers and business partners. He made a come back thanks to a community of dedicated gamers. One thing though that needs to be rectified in the PC gaming community is STEAM. There is virtually nothing good about STEAM when it comes to gaming. STEAM is just another monopoly that acts as a governing body of the PC gaming industry and needs to gotten rid of. Developers need to stop mandating STEAM as a requirement (note it wouldn't be so bad if STEAM was optional) to play or be online just to install it, their bullshit online activation does NOTHING to prevent piracy if anything people resort to piracy to play games now.
That was soo funny. From the comments, it doesn't seem that many people get the sarcasms and intended insults in the interview. I thought it was hilaaarious. Congratulations, Mr. Fargo
I think it is quite telling that this is a parody and I literally can't tell the difference in terms of tone, journalistic integrity, intellectual maturity, honesty or any other factor you can imagine
The comments about nerds and bullies feel dated in an uncomfortable way. Do gamers still identify as downtrodden nerds? Are big publishers who are conservative with money bullies? If you want to simplify it with emotionally charged terms, why not dreamers and bean counters? The battle of nerds and bullies seems quite distant from the world of adults.
I can't wait until we can go back to a time before these violent video games when the world was at peace. But until that time I rely on the mainstream media (such as Chris Mathewson) to inform me which titles from Metric Driven Games are good and safe for my children.
I may not know the 1988 Wasteland, but I do know Fallout 1 and 2. and if Brian said 'we'll be making the granddad of Fallout 1, I'll happily pour my money' we need more games like fallout 1 the best game about post-apoc I've ever played is metro 2033... but that's it, no games feels like that again.
I hope this becomes a big thing in the future. What people will pay just to see themselves in the game, and the gamers get what they want like better content or more content based on the budgets. Imagine the possibilities, and wouldn't be nice if we get some kind of profit or discount for PRE-ORDERING or INVESTING in a game. Didn't believe people back up this game for $10,000.. WOW!
I was a bit too young to have played Wasteland, but I played Fallout 1 and 2, (and 3 and Vegas), and I am so eager to see the post apocalyptic RPG go back to it's roots. Bethesda has made some fun Fallout games, but none of them can compare with Fallout 1 and 2. I'm also looking forward to a fresh(er) start in a new world--Fallout has been done to death--it does not even seem desolate anymore hundreds of years into the fictional storyline...
LOL at people thinking that's supposed to be Bill O'Reilly, when it's obviously based on Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC! :) Just goes to show how few people watch MSNBC. Hahahahahahah!
Is the game Freelancer, dead, for good? There was going to be a sequel, but someone pulled the carpet under the game. The trailers for it looks great, wish it didn't get cancelled.
nawwww, that cant be it. The news caster isn't screaming mad and isnt constantly trying to hold back drool coming of the side of his mouth every time he speaks....
Sorry, but that's a Chris Matthews impression. I know very few people watch MSNBC, but still, I don't know how you can confuse Chris Matthews with Bill O'Reilly.
Hmmm, this has all the makings of a great Fox show, I'm pretty sure that Rupert Murdoch is already calling Mr. Mathewson up to make Hard Drive a reality.
+10 cool points for having Clay fighters in the backround among all the other classics. Hope the wasteland kickstarter hits at least the same/similar range as Doubl eFines did and the kickitforward thing takes off. The whole kickstart thing that really shake things up, and let developers/fans bring great games out that many big publishers would never take a chance on.
Well, I'm kinda broke, I even live in damn Poland, but hell, in a minute I will have 15$ less on my bank account, that's for sure! that's damn 48 PLN people...

Go go go Brian! Can't wait for W2.
I love this guy. Seriously.
The ending blew my mind.
The news caster reaked of a MSNBC host and then I noticed the name. Awesome vid!
Hilarious!...and informative...GO BRIAN FARGO
This was surprising well done. The O'Reilly guy should work for the daily show :D
"Upstart Brian Fargo".... Really? "upstart" isn't the word I would use.
It's Light and Darkness.

Yeah kickstarter is an awesome thing :) i miss the times when developers made games they wanted, not what they been told.to make :)
Yes?
I think it is quite telling that this is a parody and I literally can't tell the difference in terms of tone, journalistic integrity, intellectual maturity, honesty or any other factor you can imagine
Hey is that planescape torment in the background ?
The game hasn't been funded yet. They don't get the money until april 17
haha nerds
And apparently 40 other people
Yeah, he's like the Video Game Savvy version of Bill O'Reilly xD
Fuck yeah Cyberia!

if only rick goodman uses kickstarter to make a good RTS, or illwinter to make dominions 4, or adams brothers to improve the Dwarf fortress interface
LOL at people thinking that's supposed to be Bill O'Reilly, when it's obviously based on Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC! :) Just goes to show how few people watch MSNBC. Hahahahahahah!
Brian, you should join the Indie Fund group ! :-)
They are doing somewhat the same thing you're proposing with KickItForward.
Is the game Freelancer, dead, for good? There was going to be a sequel, but someone pulled the carpet under the game. The trailers for it looks great, wish it didn't get cancelled.

Why is socialism being criticized at 2:00 ? In Denmark we have socialism, and we are currently being described as the happiest country in the world.
Hmmm, this has all the makings of a great Fox show, I'm pretty sure that Rupert Murdoch is already calling Mr. Mathewson up to make Hard Drive a reality.
Ha! This screams Fox News. The game deserves funding, for this video alone. Also, great games in the background, got to love the classics.
@msnhao Same here... I would vote your comment up just as many times as I fell like hitting him. unfortunately I can only do it once =(
Cyberia. WOW! I just hit a stage of nostalgia. I was really young when I first gave it a run. Took me awhile to get past the puzzles.
Because Americans have a very, very uneducated view on socialism. It's a part of their politics spin, don't mind it.
two millions already in the kickstarter,so the obsidian guys will be in the development of wasteland 2...i hope.
Wasteland 2's funding is now over $2.5 million. It looks like that mind-control device was a good investment.
I pirated Wasteland 1 when I was 10 years old.
I couldn't just sit and let this man's dream disappear.
Fox News and BBC - it's the first thought, that came in my mind (by the way, socialism is good thing).
The presenter of this show, could well be the most irrating human in existence.
Could easily imagine someone who loved the first one who's now a surgeon and wants to chip in
Wow, Cyberia AND descent 3 box art! Classic!
Cant wait for wasteland 2, should be a blast!
"You sure this is a joke and not really Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC?"
Fixed it :)
I don't know what's more awesome, the random vocal emphasis or not looking at the camera.
It's a parody of Chris Matthews, not Bill O'Reilly.
I need to get a classic game shelf going at my place instead of storing them at boxes.
Retracted original post, I thought it was real haha .. Oh shoot me :)
Hahahaha this is so deadly. The guy playing the journalist reminds me of Glenn Beck.
I have a bad feeling this game wont be finished at all, dont know they just dont look serious
They made 2 and it was really good and then they made 3 which was great!
ok, absolutely amazing parody of bill o'reilly here. this is really good stuff!
yes i agree that not everyone is tim schafer but they can try :) no harm in that
I dont like that other guy who isnt named Brian. AWAY WITH HIM! NOW!. hush hush.
This is unrealistic because the host let him get a sentence out.
That smirk on Chris reminds me of Joker from The Dark Knight.
I wonder how many noobs sided with the "presenter" instead of Brian? lol.
this is comedy, right? its so convincing that i feel stupid.
Huge congrats on 1.5M! But seriously, leave the comedy to Tim Schafer.
I totally want new Falloutish game. So yeah, thanks Brian.
I just realized that Brian sounds almost like Seinfeld. It's amazing.
+10 cool points for having Clay fighters in the backround among all the other classics.

The whole kickstart thing that really shake things up, and let developers/fans bring great games out that many big publishers would never take a chance on.
It did quite well
All dislikes are from publishers like EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc.
What's the name of a purple cover game just above Fargo's head?
They employ the same tactical approach to misrepresent facts?
watch?v=DrOAs3KPy-8 - Light and Darkness (the purple game above his head)
look at all of those old school boxes in perfect condition!
as a matter of fact, it is. It's a parody of Bill O'Reilly
Realms of the haunting in the background. Amazing game.
*Sees Baldur's Gate on the shelf. Increases backing.*
Well, I'm kinda broke, I even live in damn Poland, but hell, in a minute I will have 15$ less on my bank account, that's for sure! that's damn 48 PLN people...
Hey, stop making videos are start making the game!
You sure this is a joke and not a fox news cast?
Was that sarcasm? Please tell me it was sarcasm.
I love this, great parody of arrogant media! :)
That was Glen Beck in Chris Matthews clothing.
This is great amazing video. super awesome
"98% of bullies HATE NERDS!" LOL
Ummm he was responsible for making them...
