💯loved the past winners saying kind words about the nominees. Sterling K. Brown knew RDJ was gonna win, but he didn't expect to hear Ke Huy Quan's effusive praise. Beautiful! Cena's bit was also unexpected😆
Truly the best Oscar's in years. I was also trying to guess Louis Jokes. Also watching this on TH-cam is so fun because it's just so funny to watch each other's reactions during the show
God I love that movie and even if it didn't really didn't cover trans issues "sensitively" so to speak and Kitten was portrayed as a bit of a fantasist, it meant a lot to my queer heart and it didn't deserve to be memory-holed. In any case Cillian did it much better than Eddie Redmayne.
I started The Zone of Interest with a friend, watching at home, and I remember saying the words “banality of evil” within the first few minutes of watching, explaining to my friend that that must be the point of the film. I was surprised by the sound design win, probably because I was watching at home with bad speakers and couldn’t fully hear it to appreciate it. I also have hearing loss so if something is meant to be subtle there’s a good chance I would have missed it. Will definitely have to rewatch. I loved Jonathan Glazer’s acceptance speech.
Missed watching the Oscars live, but definitely felt invested as I watched back all the clips on TikTok and TH-cam later that night and the next day and wondered which jokes and bits Louis was involved in. 😊
I just watched The Goonies after so many years and i remember when I watched it as a teenager that Martha's was my favorite character on it. Also, she is so funny on Raising Hope. 😆
Louis, THANK YOU, once again! I have added at least one more movie to my never-ending list of your recommended movies to watch: Mass. Looks like a riveting one!
I was rooting for Lily G. but you’re right, really looking forward to lots of good work from her. Believe she taught acting at one point(?) so directing could be in her wheelhouse too.
Wow I'm actually shocked y'all haven't watched a Miyazaki film. I do recommend just watching the Studio Ghibli films, since not all of them are Miyazaki like Grave of the Fireflies which is by Isao Takahata.
Two things I have to say: -re the WW2 movie, my Opa was 1st generation German American and was US Army in Germany during the war. He called himself a “glorified gravedigger” as his group worked its way across capturing Nazi stragglers, helping prisoners get medical help, and digging graves for the camps and the battlefields they came across. He and his wife (my Oma) both had family that died in camps, as well as…other German family. We got to meet any survivors of both Jewish and not after the wall came down. It’s a really hard topic even to this day. We still don’t know much because they’re all “atheists” and refuse to talk about any of it. Understandable. -wasn’t there a story about Jordan Peele asking the people screaming in Nope to scream first like they were on a roller coaster and then as if they were terrified by a monster, and then combined both to add to the ambiguity of the sounds? I always thought sound design is just not given enough love, right above costume design
I dunno if it is just me but listening to the podcast on an iPhone, was there something odd with the editing? Like it wasn't synched up properly - they were "talking over each other" a lot?
Best oscars since I don't know when, maybe since Johnny Carson hosted. Disagreeing about Kate Middleton, she has a ton of other smiles, rictus smiles, gurning smiles
Neither the Spiderman sequel nor the Boy and the Heron lived up to their expectations. Boy and the Heron was just a worse version of "Spirited Away" and Spiderman 2 was just a worse version of Spiderman 1. I didn't see Robot Dreams so I can't really have an opinion, but among the ones I've seen Spiderman is the more re-watcheable of all of them.
as a day 1 keep it listener, pls dont ever stop repeating yourselves or ranking stuff! you've introduced me to so many new things!
Just wanted to come here to say congrats to Louis and Jimmy's team for putting together the best Oscars we've had in years, just objectively speaking.
💯loved the past winners saying kind words about the nominees. Sterling K. Brown knew RDJ was gonna win, but he didn't expect to hear Ke Huy Quan's effusive praise. Beautiful! Cena's bit was also unexpected😆
“I didn’t need to see five men come onstage and talk about other men.” 😆 Amen
Truly the best Oscar's in years. I was also trying to guess Louis Jokes.

Breakfast on Pluto is a Cillian Murphy classic

Congrats Louis!! You did amazing. So proud to see you shine

When Louis said John Cena was “clinched”, I thought he was about to talk about his ass cheeks!😂
Martha Plimpton and River Phoenix were exceptional in 'Running On Empty".
A Cry in the Dark is so overlooked in the Meryl canon. Thanks for the shoutout. Watch this movie!
Fantastic Oscars! Always LOVE You Gents! And, THANK YOU for the interview with wondrous Martha Plimpton... She's brilliant.

Great show, as always. Wildly entertaining from beginning to end. Love you guys. 🥰🥰😘😘
PLEASE do the miyazaki episode 🙏🏾

Me thinks that Christoph Waltz is battling it out with Willem Defoe for parts.
here for the Red Eye shout-out!
Partridge Family . Tamborines . Getting off the bus!!! So good!!
"Shirley Jones. We speak your name." mumbles "Best supporting actress 1960" hahahha
And here we are again, one episode after Mary-McDonnell-WAS-in-major-Crimes-Gate, Louis calling Austrian actor Christoph Waltz, "German".
I was rooting for Lily G. but you’re right, really looking forward to lots of good work from her. Believe she taught acting at one point(?) so directing could be in her wheelhouse too.
A fun Oscar's. Loved the Kenergy!
“She’s dancing like she’s on Soul Train.”😂 “She was not doing that at Danceteria.” 😂😂
On a scale of one-to-Ken, the Oscars were Kencrebile, thanks to Ryan Gosling.

Not to pick nits, but wasn't The Laundromat directed by Stephen Frears, not Soderbergh?

"I was high as hell on ketamine and saying is Michael Jackson here?!" This is why I listen.
Weird audio issue on the audio podcast?
It was fixed if you redowload!
ted danSÓN made me cackle out loud. also i am still very much about that Costco size goldfish life 😬 woops
Listeners of the pod that don't watch youtube are missing out.
I dunno if it is just me but listening to the podcast on an iPhone, was there something odd with the editing? Like it wasn't synched up properly - they were "talking over each other" a lot?
It sounded like that on my Samsung as well. That's why I came here & it doesn't seem to be a problem
An audio issue! Fixed if you redownload
I like her episode of SVU, her and ice-T are a good pair
More people need to know about the incisive, delicate character study that is Passion Fish
Ahhhh, finally🎉
Red Eye is definetly that girllll

I read the first 30 pages of Frisco. It has absolutely nothing to do with The Holdovers. This lawyer did his client a disservice by taking this case.

jimmy was painful again.
Lie again
Ira - etcetera is pronounced, "et ˈsedəra" not "ek ˈsedəra"
I know how to pronounce go to hell…
