Unlike northern part of China where most places got central heating, winter in Shanghai is bitterly cold and humid. I had lived through two winters in Shanghai, and all I can remember is that my life was miserable because winter literally sent chills down my spine, and the frostbites were killing me. I did learn my lesson though; which is, always wear gloves, and most important of all, keep your feet dry.
@@mitchelllee3503 I’ll have to invest in some. Our apartment is nice and snuggly with hot water bottles, heated blankets, and fluffy pyjamas but going to work… the cold just goes right into your bones!
It was incredible! Everything I saw on other tables was very well presented too. It was also so smoother and creamy and cheesy yet somehow vegan?! It was really good and I’ll definitely go there again 😍😍
The vegetarian food tradition in China comes from its history of Buddhism which prohibited monks from consuming meats so they had to develop alternative meat less foods which they have refined to quite a high level
There are lots of wonderful meatless Chinese dishes but most use oyster sauce so are strictly vegetarian or vegan depending on how strict you are. The vegetable dishes are my favourite ☺️
Those cafe's are so lovely, and your city? has so many lovely and interesting buildings, I think you are very lucky to be living in China, I have family and I am settled here in Australia, however if I was starting out again I would most definitely want to live China. I enjoyed this lovely outing 😀

She looks more like the actress (Amanda Siegfried) who plays Elizabeth Holmes in the Netflix series IMO, except for the obvious height issue . I actually just finished watching the series (The Dropout), and highly recommend it for its insight into American corporate greed and self delusion
I know! I quickly drank my wine then left straight after. It was too noisy and the staff had to keep telling the parties to be more quiet. Such a shame! I’ll definitely go back another day, hopefully in warmer weather when the outside area is open!

My feet are permanent ice cubes 😂😂 Miu bought me tonnes of foot heat packs to put in my shoes but they got so hot they burned through my Dr Martens 😂
A pair of thick merino wool socks definitely helps.

Most public facilities in Shanghai, such as subway, shopping malls and office buildings now have very good heating in winter.
