This film is a criminally underrated gem. As someone who lost his father when I was 17 this really hits home in a deep way. Outstanding and believable performances all around, loved it.
Can believe what great chemistry these two actors have? I love Jennifer Lawrence but imagine if Hailee Steinfeld was cast as Katniss (she auditioned in case you didn’t know) and she and Woody starred together through the whole series.
One year later... She would have been great as Katniss!! I like Jennifer Lawrence in general but I never felt she was Katniss from the books. Not at all.
@@edithtierce8209 not even close dude, katniss from the books was so cold and distant, in the movies she was screaming and crying for the majority of it, which in fairness could be the writers and not her fault
"Especially badly dressed student" was my favorite line in the movie. Hailee wore the same ugly blue winter jacket throughout the movie, it didn't fit her at all and most likely passed down from her brother before he grew up, a very common practice when parents decided just to hand-down clothes to the younger siblings instead of buying them new ones. 😂😂
Just watched this movie and had to look up that clip. What a magnificent way to start a film. Hooked in straight away. And it keeps it up all the way. Bit of an unknown classic I'd say. The screenplay is airtight
I don’t get it, what’s their relationship? Does he actually like her but he’s just a stubborn or something? I saw another clip where he told her nobody likes her
He’s just VERY sarcastic but he does genuinely care for Nadine and does give her advice and acts like a father figure once he knows she’s REALLY struggling.
Hahaha🤫🤔🥧Hey now, next to Sing street, awesome coming of age movie.....H.s/nadine, is great & ya'll, but did she ever stop to wonder, her being entitled, privileged & high maintenance, attitude & selfish, was prolly a reason why, her dad had ❤attack, in first place.

It is one of the best coming of age teen drama since Dead Poets Society and Mean Girls....!!!!
I’m sorry.
I'm a sucker for these kinds of films.
Please suggest more
What I really like about this movie, is the limited soundtrack and quiet tone, so we can see exactly how the characters feel.
As a psychologist, I find this scene HUGELY cathartic.
Woody Harrelson is a goddamn national treasure
it doesn't look like "Woody Harrelson Movie", but feels more like 'HAILEE STEINFELD MOVIE" , this girl is 1 helluva talent & beauty
“Hell of a”
Also “might as well”, not midaswell
id hit it
Nah man. For an actor to be memorable, you gotta do something memorable.
Woody harrelson is a prime example of memorable
No, you are wrong. It definitely feels more of a Woody Harrelson movie.
Seven years later and this comment has aged like fine Italian wine.

And now she plays a different archer!

This is the only movie I’ve seen where a teenager admits to contemplating suicide, and it’s actually funny.

This is really funny am happy that they are doing the movie about teenagers feeling cause it's true but this is helarious really 😂😂😂😂
That's what exactly stops me from trying to make myself unalive, what if I survive that
Best high school movie of the year! Hailee Steinfield deserves an Oscar for this movie for making me LMFAO!!😂😂
it's funny how she Says adult but then realizes what she said and just said "so you should know"
That would be my suicide note.
Same
"We don't need to get caught up in the menusha." Something I've included in a few of my suicide "threats".
Minutae
I believe them both. This is the best scene of all time. I may have broken something inside me laughing so hard.

Did Woody Harrelson also dumped Emma Stone for Haliee Steinfeld? The Edge of Seventeen is actually a prequel to Zombieland.

He’s just being a supportive teacher for his depressed student. Its very platonic
He’s just VERY sarcastic but he does genuinely care for Nadine and does give her advice and acts like a father figure once he knows she’s REALLY struggling.
