I do capoeira movements before heavy lifts like deadlifts or squats at gym because they are great warm ups in a way of loosening up the legs.

Juan Alvarez By the way. I'm working on the au volta o mundo myself along with other handstand drills, so I can make a video in the future. Great suggestions

Your tutorials are top notch. Ever consider sharing a sequence (aside from bimba sequence) either partner or solo. Those are my favorite way to learn.

What fascinates me about capoeira is not only the complex movements but also the the way capoeiristas can use simple movements to create complex patterns. Personally I really enjoy practicing sequences that are really low to the floor (negitivas, au de cabesa, etc). I could post some examples if that would help.

Jay M - Thanks for the feedback Jay. I'll definitely plan to add some sequences to my list of future vids. In the meantime, I think you'll get a kick out of this guys blog. Ido Portal - Check out his Floreio's. idoportal.blogspot.com/2009/07/sequencing-movements.htmlLet me know how you like them.

Great stuff. I'm not a student of Ido or anything (so pricey!) but have been following him the past year or so. His old blog posts are actually what got me interested in capoeira and I have been playing for about 8 months now.

Jay M That's great to hear. I want to check out his stuff in more depth and possibly train myself through the floreio vids to see how I helps me and how it may help the community. Keep it up man. I'd love to see your progress as you grow.

Just a few ideas for future videos: corto capim -- how to make it look smooth. This is such a simple one but I look so clumsy when I do it. Also, parafuso or armada com martelo -- how to get the most air. I feel very confident in my armadas but I just don't feel like I get as much air as I'd like to.

batidadefresa Thanks for the suggestions. I love the Corta Capim idea; it's simple yet so useful in the roda. I'll also add the others to my list of future videos. I'll probably get assistance from a friend to do the Parafuso, as that's a move I'm still working on. I'll now have an excuse to learn it! Thanks again for the feedback!

+Laclaire Nzerem - I prefer using the wall to work on my handstand, because it won't move. th-cam.com/video/1_-bNWYFfYo/w-d-xo.html - Checkout my Capoeira Handstand tutorial to see how I work it. And here is a little bit of a bridge tutorial from one of my other vides th-cam.com/video/ZBxTzSWK4WA/w-d-xo.html. If you really want to work with a chair, you can do block stands. I found this video tutorial, which shows you how to do it. (th-cam.com/video/9MjBkqreh94/w-d-xo.html). Let me know how it goes!

Great video! I am practicing the moment and I noticed a difference between S-Dobrado and the Macaco. When you are doing the Macaco you are using two feet but in the S-Dobrado you really have the support of the one foot. I am not going over, so I am wondering do I need more leg strength or more thrust in the hips? I can do a Macaco by the way. Is there any exercises I can use to make this easier, because it maybe that I need to get my body use to practicing.
Are there some ways that a partner can help me?

Diamond Jefferson - Wow, that's a great comment! You are right, this is a bit different. Now I feel like I need to add this to the video. I remember running into that challenge a while ago too. First you must get good at doing your Macaco with your hips extended and using your arm to give you momentum. Then you can work on your Macaco from a Negativa position, so you will basically practice doing your Macaco while sitting on one foot and having the other one extended (This is the second position I show on the video). Again, the key to all of this is to learn how to lead the movement with the momentum of your arm and hips. There isn't as much of a need to push from the bottom. Once you get the movement right, you will find the swing of the leg will carry you up in the air.
While I haven't done this with a partner yet, I'm thinking a partner may be able to help you on the Macaco from Negativa drill by pushing your straight leg over your head as you do the Macaco. Just to give you a little push to get you over the hump though. This is untested though, so do at your own risk and with the right partner.

WHY this guy ginga's cross legs?
WHY the hand positions doesn't make the right guard?
Capoeira isn't dancing, is a martial art.
