Your review is what make my dentition on buying this pack. I have used this pack for up to a 3 day hike carrying 30lbs of gear+ food and it held up very nicely on my 30mile hike. Since I bought this pack I have added the FR-1 medical pouch and the bottle holder to the side to free up space and I can hole more gear cause of it. superb pack.
Excellent video and an outstanding overview of the bag. The small size has helped me decide to pick it up as a "get home bag" instead of as a general pack. Thanks for sharing your views on it and keep producing great videos. Scott
I really like this review for several of reasons, like technical for example, the audio is excellent, the close up of the features are really helpful, Also he speak exactly of those features who I am interested for. Thanks for your review, I really enjoyed see it
Great bag, I used mine for about 5 years. Beat the hell out of it as an EDC & a camping bag and never had a single issue. I eventually replaced it with a 5.11 AMP 24 only because it was stolen and I wanted to try something different.. but you can't go wrong with Maxpedition for hard use gear. It's really amazing outdoors equipment. I still have all their pouches attached to my AMP and also use one of my favorites daily, the Proteus pack. It's a great daily pack for urban EDC.
I bought this for my self for Father's Day initially as a trail bike pack. I am pleased so far. I see the uses as day pack or three day pack but I also believe if you are creative enough or skilled and have the right tools can be a long term back. Key issues here are that you have the 'skills' and 'tools'. K-Bar 9, shovel, multi-tool, utility knives, axe, saw, snare/trap equipment, fishing gear, use what nature provides as tools and shelter or wear your shelter. It won't be easy. Can be done.
I love it. Easy pack to love. 2,800 cubes is pretty nice for a extended stay bag. Typical Maxpedition Bad Assery. I'm only a minimalist to an extent. I like my little bit of creature comforts as well.
i have been looking into the noatak and the sitka and decided to go with the sitka. it should be here this week sometime. i have used the falcon 2 for years and it hasn't let me down. one thing i wish maxpedition would have done would implement a water bottle holder on at least one side. yes, it would inhibit the clam shell design a bit, but i've come to use guyot bottles and find the various molle bottle holders to be a little cumbersome and while not unsecure, they tend to flop. - stony
For water bottle, I recommend the 5.11 H20 Carrier. It's easier to open than the Maxpedition bottle holder, cheaper and good quality. It comes with molle strap too. Good luck.
The recent “dept store” bag I bought is made from Diamond Ripstop 600 Denier Duralite and weighs 3.2 pounds, 0.5 oz heavier than the Falcon 2. To me, that is very heavy. It’s constructed well, but the pockets are just laid out weird, making it awkward to use, tho I’m getting used to it. Straps are very difficult to adjust. Had to take it off to adjust some of the straps, such as the waist belt.
This bag may be a little small for what you want. I say that because sleeping bags usually don't pack down very small, depending on the sleeping bag. And personally, I like to have very little gear hanging on the outside of my bag. I like lots of pockets on my bags, though. But I hear a lot folks who say this bag works well for a 3 day pack. I just don't see it as that. It's all about personal preference. You may want a bag that's a little larger. Just ask if you have more questions. -Krik
Thanks for the video... I think this is the edc bag I've been looking for. About the strap flapping... I purchased velcro cable ties from Lowes and find they work very well on other packs.
Sup BlackOwl........ My Maxpedition Fal2 has been with me for years. It has never let me down. But, I have to agree with you It is a bit small. A great overnight pack also it could work as a 3 day pack. But, you would have to pack pretty small
I’ve been looking at this bag for some time. It seems a tad bit large and heavy for this 67 year old body. Had to email Maxpedition to get the weight. 3.15 lbs. I bought a dept store bag recently that weighs 3.20 lbs, and it feels heavy empty compared to what I’m used to. I wish the Falcon 2 was a tad bit smaller and lighter, but I have the feeling I’ll order one anyway. Like that green color combination.
I believe this could be a great bug out bag. In all honesty, ANY bag you have ready to go is the best one. As you know, personal preference dictates a lot. This bag is a little small in my opinion. But the quality is excellent. -Krik
I traded up from the Sitka to the Falcon2 . Falcon2 is a great pack but could be made better. I believe all zippers should be double zippers and the CCW Velcro panel should be as large as the Sitka's. What is your reaction to this? Great video .
Still like my falcon 2, the slim profile but ability to accordion out is my favorite feature. Use it more for urban use now. Was wondering if the new Falcon 3, and Gyrfalcon are on your radar for possible review?
The weight comes from the extremely durable nylon. It's meant to last a lifetime. BUT, weight comes with this type of durability and design. Have you tried a bag made from a light rip-stop? -Krik
Bought this as a vehicle pack. Something to get me home in an emergency. I rarely travel more than 50 miles from home so it works. Would you integrate a water bladder for what I'm using it for?
Trigger Happy Guns A water bladder works great for hiking applications. That's pretty much the only time I'll use a bladder, or when I'm biking for a long distance. But, they can also simply be used for a water storage container. You know? I don't think a bladder is necessary for how you're using the bag. But having water with you at all times is a good idea. Does that help at all? -Krik
Yes sir, the helps. I added the maxpedition water bottle pouch to the side with a 40oz bottle. That should solve my water issues. Great channel and thanks for the response.
Krik I've got a question for you unrelated to the pack, but what shirt are you wearing? Looks warm - I like it. I love your videos, man. You helped me decide which pack to purchase when I was on the hunt, and ended up picking up the Hazard 4 Patrol and I'm thrilled with it. Thanks bud, and keep up the good work! - Kendall
I wanting to gitchike up the pacific coast and a wanting a backpack for fairly minilam carry, a change of clothes, some warm layers, and a way to attatch my sleeping bag and hammock and maybe a couple days worth of food at the most since Ill predominantly be in olaces I can stock up. Would this bag be big enough? Many things seem to have tons of space I wont always use, this one looks liek it would make a good day pack if my sleep system was unloaded, but would it hold my sleeping bag and such?
We've been checking out those packs for a while now. Don't be surprised if you see a video on one of them in the upcoming months. Do you have that pack? -Krik
You know, I've gotten a lot of comments about this wool garment. And each time I tell it, it gets a little more embarrassing. This is Gap sweater. Gap isn't necessarily my style, but wool clothing isn't easy to find, for me at least. -Krik
BlackOwlOutdoors Thanks man. I found 2 of them (brown and tan colored) and I'll have to disagree with you, I think they seem like great quality. I have yet to try them out though. THanks for help.
Zsolt Beres Yes, it is wool. This is really old. So I can't tell you exactly what it is. And I haven't found one like it. Look at the comments on our wool clothing video - I believe some subscribers left suggestions on similar sweaters. -Krik
I need a wide comfortable waist belt because of back issues. Of all the packs you reviewed , which would you recommend that has this feature ? The 5.11 I just saw you review , has a nice wide one , but are there any others you can think of ? Thanks Peace
Potentially. Depends on your skill level/gear/comfort level. I know that may not help much, but it really is that specific to each person. You know? -Krik
How do you feel about the OD color maxped uses when you have it in front of you? I find that its hard to get a real idea for the color through pics or video and I really want one of these packs in OD as an edc bag but in some pictures the od does not look appealing. Is the color in the video true to life in your estimation? I really like the way it looks on camera. Do you have any color regrets? Black is the safest bet but honestly that's boring!
No color regrets at all. This is a nice looking green in person. But not my favorite color option that Maxpedition makes. And I really don't like black bags, at all. But at times when the price is right, I'll purchase a black bag. Hope this helps. -Krik
BlackOwlOutdoors thanks for the response. In person the only maxped color I have currently is khaki. Given that you have access to more than I do I am sure, what is your favorite color combo from maxpedition? I have been looking at khaki foliage, just because its unique. Also foliage and khaki as well as olive drab lol
A good EDC bag. My next bag after careful consideration. Even over the newer Riftcore 23L. This will under the seat in front of you on an aircraft; enhancing its utility to me.

You're welcome. Glad you found the video useful. -Krik
Maxpedition makes great stuff. I have a Saber cat and Vulture 2. And a few pouches. Can't go wrong with anything Maxpedition makes.
Great review I just ordered this and I can't wait to test it out going to be some fun.

You guys really have good camera work skills.
Been carrying mine for a year now with 50lb load.... absolutely no wear or tear... been in n out of the trunk n woods many times...
Got mine coming in a week, can't wait.
The proper way to do a review. Thank you, sir.

I have the MaxPed Noatak. It is an amazing bag. I've been thinking about getting the Falcon 2 lately.
Awesome review, thank you!
Excellente revue . Merci.

Cool man. A new Maxpedition video is on its way. Stay tuned. Should be up by the end of the weekend. How well do you like the Vulture 2? -Krik
Good to see more than one knife.😉👍🏼

I need the extra space and molly attach will order one thanks for the review
Great review 👏 👌 👍
Have you seen the MAXPEDITION FALCON 3 and do you plan to review it?
I like your wool toque and sweater
I believe this could be a great bug out bag. In all honesty, ANY bag you have ready to go is the best one. As you know, personal preference dictates a lot. This bag is a little small in my opinion. But the quality is excellent. -Krik
what a great review and bag, i buy it
Nice job great review thanks 👍🏻👊🏼
Awesome review, thank you!!! :-)
I would recommend the 5.11 72 hour pack. I own both packs.
Where are the holes for the hydration bladder?

Would this bag be good for just rucking purposes?
Your sweater and beanie look really warm and rugged. What brands are they?
The weight comes from the extremely durable nylon. It's meant to last a lifetime. BUT, weight comes with this type of durability and design. Have you tried a bag made from a light rip-stop? -Krik
I have a hard time deciding which one I should get. either this one or the vanquest falcon 27. hard decision at the moment.
what camera and lens do you guys use??

very interested in this pack
Good video...I've ordered it yesterday !!!! Is it the sound of the 5d mark II stabilizer we hear? ;) Thanks for sharing.
Однозначно, моя следующая покупка.

Do you think it would carry 5 days hiking gear without being uncomfortable?
Are going to be reviewing on the MAXPEDITION ZAFAR BACKPACK?
We've been checking out those packs for a while now. Don't be surprised if you see a video on one of them in the upcoming months. Do you have that pack? -Krik
Your review is very well done that I enjoy watching it.
And I plan to buy a FALCON 2 BACKPACK.
James almedia the Oakley icon2.0 will definitely hold a MacBook Pro :)
ya maybe a bit small, but with the molly capability i dunno , might be ok . u know , strap on a couple of side bags off my filbe pack. maybe i dunno

Cho e xin gia cua balo nay di a
Will the sternum strap fit a 54" chest?
Would it fit a 15" macbook pro?
did you tape up the straps on the bottom? Was wondering what to do with them since they just hang if not..
very cool review. Like
What's the color of this pack?green or foliage?
hey great review and also that is a great sweater could you tell me what it is?
It's an old sweater. GAP. Check out our comfort in the cold video for wool. A bunch of people have links for wool clothing. -Krik
Hey, a little off topic (I have the bag and was watching this to see how you packed it), but what sweater are you wearing? I really like it.
I think it was an old Gap sweater. Not the best quality. But it was the right price, 10 years ago. Ha. Thanks for watching. -Krik
BlackOwlOutdoors Thanks man. I found 2 of them (brown and tan colored) and I'll have to disagree with you, I think they seem like great quality. I have yet to try them out though. THanks for help.

dood, amazing chops!!! bahaha. nice video aswell, sub'd!

Great review. I'm torn between the Falcon 2 and 3. I do have a random question, what kind of knife is that attached to the shoulder strap?
It's a Mora
I need a wide comfortable waist belt because of back issues. Of all the packs you reviewed , which would you recommend that has this feature ? The 5.11 I just saw you review , has a nice wide one , but are there any others you can think of ? Thanks
Peace
How tall are you? I need a good outdoor backpack but I don't want something that is bigger than me. I'm on the short side. I'm about 5'6.
4TH GEN I'm 5 feet 9 inches.
Awesome. Thankyou!
What is that velcro for please?.
Moral patches.
Thank you!!!
It's our 72Hr BugOut pack. I notice you didn't execute a 'dump'. Too many use these as 'toy chests'. You only need a Swiss army knife.
so im going on a kayaking camping trip this year. will it be safe to wear this bag on my back while kayaking to the campsite?
kyle ladd Should work, as long as you dont fall into the water... :)
Do you think this pack would be suitable for a couple of days hike including camping?
Potentially. Depends on your skill level/gear/comfort level. I know that may not help much, but it really is that specific to each person. You know? -Krik
