- We're feeling defeated, Cody is sick, and living in a truck camper. We have breakfast at Texas Sunrise and Cody learns how to shoot a bow. Larry surprises us with a trip to Fredericksburg Cast-iron to share their machine cut skillets. Cody has been feeling under the weather for the past week. We have been laying low in our friend Larry's yard in Fredericksburg, Texas. Now feeling better we thought about hiking to Enchanted Rock but the winds were crazy! Deciding to leave the area, we head to the coast. Arriving at our new campground Sea Rim state park in the dark and the mosquitos were out of control! Cody still not feeling 100% and now Kellie's throat is feeling weird. We leave the campground to find a city park so we can workout because the mosquitos were so bad! We drive to Louisiana and set up camp in Nibletts Bluff campground. Hoping to both feel better soon.

Kellie, I laughed so hard when you said : you don’t need a nervous person driving this rig around! You’re right. I hope Cody gets to feeling better soon
Love those Fredericksburg cast iron skillets , 5:10 point tour.
Hi Cody, Kelly & Friends ! That breakfast was what started the meaning of brunch ! Fill up with breakfast & pack up the rest for lunch. Great Friends are a Treasure ! Safe travels & keep smiling !
Beef tallow for the win! Such a great taste(especially eggs)and a lot healthier. I use olive oil once in awhile still but the vast majority of things cooked on our stove top are with the beef tallow or unsalted butter.
Great tip!
Good to see you! I hope you are feeling better every day Cody!
Always wondered why Fredricksburg cast irons are so expensive. This video explains that.
I hope you visited the National Museum of the Pacific.
Mucinex is a life saver with that illness. I caught two rounds of it between Christmas and Mid January when my grandson brought it home from school. Good thing I was snowed in all month and could recover. Hope you both feel better soon!!!
Cedars get me every turkey season in the mountains. Glad to live in south Arkansas with no cedars.
Wow I need to get a few of those beautiful cast iron pots.
You are living the dream. Praying for you to both feel better 🙏
Cody hope you feel better soon! Half the people I know including myself have been sick lately so its going around. Kellie hope you dont get it!
Take echinacea tea for the sinus and a breath easy tea for the lungs. Works great! Hope you both feel better soon.
Thanks for the tip!
Hey guys get well soon. Cody is a lucky man to have such scrumptious meals on tap. Love your videos I sometimes zone out on your videos enjoying your content, it’s heartwarming to see a young couple being together enjoying what they love. Nature is Gods gift to us. Rock on😇💕🌿💐🌈🔥🧀🥑🍔🍝🍕☕️
Holy cow that breakfast looked incredible. Hope you’re feeling better Cody. Wishing y’all safe and happy travels.
Sorry that you’re sick brother. I wound up in the hospital tonight due to asthma. Hopefully tomorrow sunrise brings us better health. Blessings to our nurses. Sleep well and better tomorrows:-)
Oh no!
From cedars to skeeters ❤
It's probably SRV flu, we got iit in San Antonio in September and thought I'd die, seriously, went to ER with it, still after all these months dealing with my rib cage from such horrible coughing fits...it's going around all over everywhere. Go to the Doctor...seriously!
You need to be VERY careful in downtown Port Arthur. It is not the safest place.
Cody, mountain cedar is about peak. It starts in Central Texas in late December, then goes on thru January and almost all of February. Pat (wife) was sensitive to it and we would head out to Tuscon, AZ in January to get away from it. As you may remember, we now live in Hot Springs Village and no more cedar fever here. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that can be done for it. Hope you are feeling better by now. Say hello to Kelly for us. Remember, you have an open invite to come stay with us.
Thanks for the video guys esp because your sick, i can barely talk to anyone while I sick never mind get up get dressed and get on with it. I think I’ve only ever seen a mosquito once in my life on holiday in Germany, it was the hottest temperature I’ve ever felt in my life too 🥵 . I’m really sheltered life in Ireland, too cold to enjoy the outdoors most days.
Get well soon! Safe travels always😊 pollen and mosquito's sometimes you just gotta go somewhere else.
So true!
Oh wow, Cody! You look pretty rough...poor you! I could feel it just by seeing you, lol. Hope you're feeling better and hope you didn't get sick, Kelly!
Cast iron gets better with age. Properly seasoned it's all non stick. You should do saltwater flyfishing. It's a totally diffrent experience
So sorry y all are feeling badly! Hope you are feeling better by now! Pro tip: stay away from dairy if you are having sinus/congestion issues. I noticed Cody has mentioned a house the past couple of videos. Are yall thinking about getting a house again?
Thanks for the tip. Oh no we can’t get a house anytime soon.
Oh my! I’m from Port Arthur. Been through that refinery headed towards Sea Rim many many times! Not sure you know but Port Arthur was the home of Janis Joplin!
I'm so sorry Cody you been so sick next time go to urgent care so you don't have to be sick for so long.I got to tell ya I was so excited when a notification came across you posted a video I love your content I wish it was an hour long I could watch y'all's videos all day long and never get sick of it but I know it's a lot of work putting a good video together editing it a long task I know I'm just saying tho.Im sure you're probably feeling so much better I'm excited can't wait for your next video you guys be safe out there stay away from mosquitos hope I spelled that correctly be safe and be blessed
a message for the both of you, essentical oils mixed with a non scented lotion cheap stuff, to ward off the nats and mosquitos the best is cedarwood, but it an cause burns on the skin so test it before using it, the next ones are peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender etc, i mix these 4 together, in the lotion for the comfort away from nats and mosquitos. in your camper if you so chose, like me , when camping i have 2 small plants of cedarwood , the trick is place one in front of the truck and one in the rear, water a large cup of water to get the smell out and live in peace. when hiking place a lavender dryer sheet in your hat and put on the lotion and live in peace,
Yes Kellie makes a essential oil bug repellent
Lived in Houston twice!!! I HATED driving there. The older I get--the more I hate traffic!! Enjoyed the cast iron review. MY favorite is from early marriage (52 years and going). It was old when my hubbys grandmother gave it to us. Safe travels. Get well soon (friends from NM).
Feel better soon! Being sick is a drag.
I have had this sinus mess since January 11th and two rounds of antibiotics. And today Thursday I feel better! I hope you get over this in a hurry. It is brutal! Kellie doctor up!
The archery was really neat! Love the look of those cast iron skillets. Hope Cody is feeling much better!
So sorry y’all are under the weather but still were able to bring another great episode.
Rock and rye it may not cure you but if you drink enough of it you want care.
I’ve had several run ins with mosquitoes like that before in Canada, Min, Florida and Alabama it’s not fun and if you get bit enough it makes me get the shakes. God bless y’all and be safe.
Cody you need to get a sling shot! They are so much fun and are cheap and obviously don’t take up much space.
Best cast iron skillet I had was Korean made. Looked like the CNC Type marks were made while the pan was still not hard. The marks seem to hold onto thin coating of oil as for an omelet cooking. Always perfect. Cleaned up like Teflon. Someone looted my campsite in Northern California along with two years collection of camping gear, clothes, cook gear. Really set me back.
The name of the game with cast iron is even heat distribution and heat retention when half a dozen eggs are dumped onto it.
Hope you feel better soon! When I last had a cold/sinus issues over Christmas, I made a remedy of 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. honey (local raw), 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar, and 1 tsp. lemon juice in a cup of hot water. Coupled with rest, this really worked for me. We love watching your channel and just saw your interview with Shawn James. I was so surprised to see your thumbnail on his channel! We have followed him for a while and found it interesting that he followed y'all, too. We love how real y'all are and watching the places you go. You make a good team and we love to see other couples working together. Thank you for your content!
We will try that remedy tonight! Thank you for the kind words.
Hope you are feeling better now Cody!
Love my cast iron. You should hear the talk about polishing cast.
Oh hope you get to feeling better.
Man hope you guys feel better soon.
Hope Cody is feeling better and that Kellie doesn’t get it. I love my cast iron skillets. I have 2 old fashioned skillets. 1 is 45 years old and the other is at least 75 years old (it was my mother’s) my daughter gave me one of the ceramic one for our RV. I’ve only used it to cook shrimp. I still use my regular pan for bacon and eggs and just about everything else. I just won’t cook any liquids in it. The seasoning is so old now I never have problems with sticking.
That casserole dish looks delicious!
Feel better soon Cody!
They say you can judge people by the friends they have & I am grateful that you have shared some of your wonderful pals with us.
I’ve spent a lot of time in Texas but never visited Fredericksburg - just added it to my list. That restaurant looked amazing!
Safe travels!
I hope you both are feeling better. Lookin pretty ruff Cody. ❤❤
I spent a decade in Austin and Cedar Fever every January was just part of life. The cedar pollen gets so bad some years that it looks almost like a green smoke coming off the trees!
I don’t feel comfortable driving our big truck either. I’m fine on the highway, just not in traffic. We bought a Highlander to travel in when not driving the big truck so I can help drive. I drove three 10 hour days from Michigan to Arizona out of necessity, not choice.
Agree on the cedar fever; its a hill country thing with all the cedar trees. Next to oak tree pollen, not sure which is worst. Need to start medicating a month before w/Zyrtec or similar and Flonase. Allows you to live here (we live in San Antonio) without the annual woes of cedar or oak.
I love you guys. Cedar fever is real. I used to live in San Antonio for 5 years and ended up in the hospital for several days about this time every one of those years!! It will pass when you get out of the area. happy trails you guys. Stay safe and healthy.
Hope you’re feeling better Cody! I live here in Texas, and we didn’t get a real winter, so mosquitoes are still horrible. It sucks. Also, I love Mexican quinoa! Such a great dish! I make mine in the Crockpot! Glad I found y’all! 🥰
My husband used to work for the Sabine River Authority, Louisiana side. Around the Many/Toledo Bend area.
You can also take a $10 lodge cast iron pan and grind then sand it down to a smooth surface like that. That's what I did.
What do you sand it down with?
I sure hope you have started feeling better Cody! Kelly I love the new cast iron, now I want one! lol
I hope you all feel better soon
Ugh. Mosquitos and sick. No fun. I hope you feel better soon. If not, get into the doctor. There are several nasty bugs going around now.
My husband got the flu on a ski weekend and now I’m sick with it. Rest and get better ❤️🩹
You too!!
I prefer to stay where you are because it's very cold here and snowy
Just run across your page you guys are down to earth people enjoy watching your adventures.
Thank you!
The mosquitos have been very bad this winter here in south Louisiana. I am thinking it’s from the drought and now getting so much rain.
Hope you're both feeling better 😊
Ugh my husband and I are from Port Arthur, yes that typically how the mosquitos are even this time of year. So glad we moved away.
We lived in central Texas for a while. The first year I had cedar fever so bad you feel like you have the flu. Next time find a health food store and ask for the drops for cedar fever. Use it the times a day. It does work. Have fun on your next adventure.
Thanks for showing us inside the cast iron factory- super interesting. I love my lodge pans but this is nice!
Glad you enjoyed it!
FEEL BETTER CODY
OH MY GOD
I had the same crap two weeks ago Cody. Feel better soon and safe travels y'all.
get well my friends.
Hope you're feeling better Cody! The mosquito situation had to have been awful. The new skillet looks amazing! Might have to invest in one soon!
Cody try a Neti pot? I used to get a wicked sinus infection every year and started using that and not an infection since.
Kellie add salt to cast iron before u cook if it sticks add oil then salt...u can also throw them in the campfire take it out let it cool, oil it then fry a piece of fat in it. I also noticed on a previous post u store it dry. U gotta lightly oil it. N of course im sure u know to never use soap on cast iron. These are my mommas tips, she was from north texas.. she used cast iron skillets all her life. When u clean it use steel wool, especially if its got meat residue in it. When this happens, u heat it after it's clean and lightly oil it...let it cool and i always store mine in the oven, its a good spot to let it cool as well. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the tips
Another great video. Even with sick Cody. Get well soon.
Enjoyed your Fredericksburg trip hate that Cody got sick that’s bummer beautiful area to visit & hike , Houston & mosquitoes lousy combination 😢 Hope yall enjoy Louisiana , Cody get well soon 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 stay safe stay Blessed 🙏🏻 keep on trucking 😊
Hey Cody, I’m currently experiencing the same symptoms. Lots of sleep and nasal spray. Hate to say it, but may be SARS. Get well
Soon and don’t overdo it.
Hi guys , hope you are feeling better 🙏🏼
Cool campground in LA. Hope you feel better soon Cody. Safe travels
I live in 70380, the best fishing and most affordable campsite $7 night is Burns Point in St.Mary parish this site is on the gulf of Mx.Cast net fishing is a blast, so is hooking a shark or a big red fish. Don't play with the gators a Florida man did a was bit trying to get catch it. He caught a charge and had to go to the hospital. He drank a lot. There's information on-line.
Cedar fever - yup - it's a thing. And we're near Houston - it blows thru here from the hill country I think. It hits us too - although we don't feel as debilitated as you were Cody - so maybe it is something else. I agree with LadywolfT we're also drinking the store brand of Mucinex. As long as it has guaifenesin in it - it thins the mucus and keeps me from getting bronchitis. The cast iron! I was impressed. I never would have known if it weren't for y'all and I already shared it with a friend.
Hope ya'll feel bettet. If ya'll feel better and pass near New Orleans, give us a shout.
We live in the area (not far from Fredericksburg) and suffering from seasonal allergies is a really bad thing here... but it sounds like you had a bad cold. We enjoy your videos. Keep em coming!
Yes we both have a cold now
Hey Y’all. Cedar fever can be bad but I don’t think this is it. I had it and then gave it to my wife. We live in Comfort ,Tx. Middle of the cedars. As for the skeeters. Sea Rim is the skeeter capital of the world. They don’t go dormant they just reload. Hope y’all are feeling better.
My goodness, I feel so bad for you Cody. You can tell the way you look that you have something. Kellie breakfast looked wonderful. So fun to cook in a new skillet. Love you both, please take care!!!❤❤
Hope you feel better soon big guy!!!
Cody, I have a good friend that lives in Texas and if he gets around cedar trees he has the same reaction. Awesome video!!
I know the frustration with mosquitoes. Had the same thing happen to me and my camping partner at Santee Coastal Reserve primitive drive-up sites off Highway 17 near the ocean here in South Carolina. I braved it twice. They were so bad that I had to get up in the middle of the night and with my windows rolled down, drive on the dirt road at a speed where it would blow them out of my car then I rolled up the windows, returned to camp, stayed in my SUV until I left the next day. Clouds of them. Lots of standing water at that location due to high tides and storms filling low areas. Probably like that area y'all stayed in. Good fishing though. Stay safe!
So sorry you don't feel well. Hope it's not much longer and prayers for a complete recovery✨
That skillet looks incredible! We have my husband’s grandmother’s old cast iron skillet. Your Mexican quinoa bake looks delicious. Definitely going to make that. Kody, you look like you feel absolutely miserable. We hope you’re feeling better by now. Continued safe travels to you both.
Get well soon Cody. Getting sick sucks. I use the sinus rinse (NeilMed) at least once a week to clear the sinuses, although Myrtle Beach salty air is helpful :-) Great recipes as usual Kellie, and the new pan is cool!
My husband got a bad case of Cedar fever in Texas in January one year. We left that area and he immediately got better. You might have a secondary Sinus I fection. CVS has a Sinus spray that works great.
Hi Cordy and Kelly hope you two feel better relax, kick back, take it easy take care happy camping
After cooking bacon, drain grease and put some water in the pan. Bring to a rolling boil for several minutes. May have to do it a few times but it SHOULD remove that sticky layer from the bacon grease
Great tip!
We are laughing so hard, we guessed where you were and was right. Sea Rim is nice but certain times of the year the mosquitoes are horrible but if you go to the beach they are gone. We’ve been to that park about 5 times over the years.
Hope u both r feeling better by now! I confess, i'v been slacking on watching videos and keeping up with u. Sorry😕 I recall Kelly saying she would like to go horseback riding when yall were in Mexico. You had crossed over on a boat that was walked over by the 'captain'! That was too funny (the whole video)! Anyways, next time yall pass through the Tx Hill Country, i have a great suggestion on where to go riding!, if still interested.Yes, it is at a dude ranch and horses are trail horses, but some of the best trails in the hill country! Safe travels till next time🌞✌️
Just wanted to let you both know I'm a new sub. Brought here through your podcast with Sean. Look forward to watching more of your travels and experiences. Going to share tour channel with my wife too.
You two remind me of a younger version of us in many ways.
Together 35 years now. They flew.✌🍀 - Mac
Welcome aboard!
Amazing park! Best views yet!
Feel better soon! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Feel better soon!
I hope you both feel better soon! Once you get sick and it lingers for days, it seems like forever, but this too shall pass.
Our bodies are very wise and they know how to get rid of whatever is toxic. Keep hydrated (with that pinch of salt) and rest, rest, rest.
Feel better you two!
Hope you get Feeling better, Cody!!
Cody I am right there with you suffering cedar fever and I am north TX. San Antonio had a huge cedar explosion of pollen early January. I will be ready next year!! It peaks January and tapers off end Feb. Take allergy pills and saline spray especially after being outside. Feel better.
Thanks for the introduction to Fredericksburg cast iron Co. I will be looking at there merchandise to review on my channel. Just had similar symptoms think it was the fluctuations in temperature. It lasted about 3 days and I started to feel better. If you all are ever near Lake Charles La. Would love to meet you both. Keep up the good work and stay well.
Sorry hope you feel better…. Mosquitoes are bad in Louisiana because there’s too much moisture here…. I’m in Shreveport we have some when it’s warm here it’s cool here but not hot yet that will bring out there… love cook cast iron skillet y’all be careful have fun, safe travel..❤❤
There’s some awesome campgrounds surrounding Lake Lewisville in TX where we live on the lake. If you’re in the DFW area check them out!
