This may sound crazy but I don't wear makeup while on vacation. I'm currently in Panama and have enjoyed not being beholden it. My attitude is "I don't know anyone here, I'm secure in my appearance. Don't care!". This has made life so much easier.
It doesn't sound crazy at all. I also don't really wear makeup when I'm doing a trip just to take a vacation. I just got back from Costa Rica and even though I'm on camera, I didn't wear much there because I would sweat it off anyway. When I'm trying to relax, makeup is the last thing I want to deal with or feel on my face in hot, humid weather.
Great tips! In case it hasn't been mentioned, I also take a large zip lock bag with me for used wipes, other garbage etc, in case there is no trash can around.
The ice tip probably applies to any fast food or restaurants. I work at a very popular coffee shop. We clean the ice bins every day. The ice maker however, gets cleaned much less often and it’s really hard to clean just because of how it’s designed.
Please folks, if you use sanitizer wipes on everything, be courteous to your fellow passengers and buy the unscented ones! My husband nearly suffocated sitting next to a woman who continuously wiped everything with stinky sanitizers during a very long haul flight LA to Brisbane, Australia. It was pre Covid too! Thank goodness as he sneezed for much of the flight.
Thank you for your content, I didn't know some things, knew others, and it was all definitely worth the watch. Two things: The Dasani water bottle you showed is probably not a good choice. It has a higher than average salt content, comparatively, and it does cause me to have swelling in my hands and feet that is a frustrating start to my travels. Try to choose a different brand, if possible. Second, I worked on the office side of a doctor's office and we removed the water fountain after we saw the awful stuff building up inside the machine, even having it serviced on a regular basis. We went with offering bottles of water instead. This was several years ago, but I doubt they've changed the mechanics that much. I'd rather budget enough to pay for bottled water.
Hi Mellie! Thanks for your tips. I'm not a rep for Dasani and was more so pointing out the importance of hydration than recommending that particular type of water. I also try to cut down my use of single-use plastic bottles by having a refillable bottle handy when I can. I can see the concern with water fountains and their cleanliness, so my LifeStraw refillable water bottle is perfect to help with both these issues. Safe and beautiful travels!🌻
I so agree with you about not using those water fountains to refill water bottles! Long before COVID, I quit using them because I observed so many people hold the mouth of their water bottle right on the spout. I've chosen to pay the outrageous price for a bottle of water once I'm past TSA, rather than risk filling an empty bottle with water + whatever germs were in other people's mouths.
@@chrisrobinson3980 Ewe yes I see that too. I got a refillable water bottle by Life Straw last year that you might look into. Life Straw makes small travel filters for people who maybe are camping (or live in dire areas without clean drinking water) and need to remove almost all contaminants. Last year they made an insulated metal water bottle with one of these filters in it so I use that if I think I'm traveling somewhere the water or sanitation is questionable.
My dermatologist just informed me about wearing sunscreen on the airplane especially if you have a window seat. She's a retired US Navy dermatologist, and said that she was always treating the Navy Pilots for various forms of skin cancer. She also said the sunscreen SPF numbers are actually half of what they state. So if you used enough 30 SPF it really is only effective as a 15
Yep, exactly Sue! Same thing with drivers in the US having more skin cancer on the left side of our faces due to driving on the left side of the car. I have dry skin anyway, so I try to only use my SPF moisturizer during my flight and kill two birds with one stone. Thank you so much for watching!
Yes, Hallie, so important. Compression socks help my legs so much when I’m flying longer flights and having to sit upright in a seat. Thank you so much for watching!
I love the antibacterial wipes tip, been doing this for decades as I think the seating areas and tables are pretty grim. I also clean the hotel rooms even the five star ones, especially the remote control and door handles. They are super dirty
Hi Anna! Yes! I am with you on that hotel remote. I’ve even gotten where I don’t even take it out of the plastic wrapper most hotels implemented with the pandemic lol. We stayed at one place this weekend where you could tell only the outer rim of the remote was cleaned an between the buttons looked like it never saw a cleaning rag. It was very dirty and gross. Thank you so much for watching!
Just found your channel and subscribed! I’ve heard what you are talking about here concerning water and ice coming from airline onboard tanks. I’ve always wondered how there aren’t sanitary protocols/laws in place. All that said I do partake in having coffee and ice in my drinks. Thankfully haven’t ever gotten sick. Enjoying this playlist!
Hi Deborah and welcome! While I do believe there are sanitary regulations in place, I think the concern is with the holding tanks of these items. I have flight attendant buddies who agree and others in the comments who do not. Personally, I feel if the water is boiled (hot water/ coffee) there shouldn’t by any issue with getting sick. Ice might be a different story but I also still get ice on flights. Thank you so much for watching!
Wow, Shan, thank you so much for your kind words and also for watching! I’m still teaching myself to edit so thank you for lifting up my spirits 💕 I’m so happy these tips resonated with you.
Hi fellow traveler! Great tips! QQ: if you fill a mug and freeze it solid and then drink the excess water out of it before you get through TSA, Will they still allow you to bring that chunk of ice through TSA?
Yes! I’ve actually tested this hack by freezing a bottle of water. As long as it is 100% solid (no melting liquid, no slush) it technically should be able to pass through TSA, per their rules. Of course, any TSA staff member can refuse to let it pass, as they can use their discretion. Thank you for stopping by!
Ooh Josie, I love my moisturizers! Generally, heavier ones will be creams instead of a lightweight gel. They may also include super hydrating ingredients hyaluronic acid and glycerin, and other ingredients the skincare realm calls "occlusives." These help lock in hydration and prevent trans-epidermal water loss. You may check out another content creator named Dr. Dray. She is a Dermatologist and has a ton of info to help steer you in the right direction for your skin type. I have dry, sensitive skin. I'm currently loving Farmacy's Honey Halo, but definitely start with identifying your skin type and branch out from there. Thank you for watching!
I travel long-haul a lot and I have short legs, so I take an inflatable footstool to rest my legs on to prevent restriction behind my knee. I hope that helps. 🙂
@07:01 - I couldn't believe my ears - "seats NEAR THE WINDOWS make for a more comfortable ride". . . A good thing that your onscreen text got it right - so just your tongue goofed up. LOL
Hi Melissa and welcome! Hmm that is interesting. It definitely could be dehydration. Sometimes I use a simple saline (salt water only) nasal spray when flying to keep my sinus hydrated and prevent nose bleeds. Perhaps this will help?
Yeah, I try to pop some on most days, at least to the places that see sun frequently (face, neck, hands.) My stepdad worked outdoors for decades and now has had a lot removed from his face, so I try to do my best but that’s not to say I don’t forget here and there. Thank you so much for watching, Kenny!
Regarding the water used for coffee or tea: bear in mind that at 30 thousand feet above sea level, water boils at too low a temperature to kill the bacteria. Just don’t drink it!
Any advice for us needing wheelchair assistance ? International flights I'm waiting for my wheelchair I paid for and it's like pulling teeth to get there attention to find someone for a chair before I miss my next flight 🤦
Hi Wanda! This is a wonderful question and I’d love to put this on my list of questions to find answers to. Hi Liz! That does make a lot of sense about the ice machines. Thank you so much for sharing your view and also for watching ❤️
The ice comes from packaged (bagged) ice brought on by catering.
