There are so many bats, birds and rats at the the prison it is almost impossible to not assume any sound is just apart of the elements. Aside from the showers... the showers are almost suffocating with energy.

Eric - I listened several times to that sound, and it's not just a single sound - there is another very quick sound directly in front of it. To me, it sounds like the crack of a whip - the noise it make when being drawn back and then the "CRACK". Am I nuts, lol!
No you're not nuts at all. That's funny, I actually suggested to our team that it may have been one of our extension cords being whipped around. So you or I may not be too far off on that.

This stuff is neat. I'm currently earning my diploma in private investigations at a community college so far I'm a 4.0 student. I'll mostly be investigating adultery, larceny, fraud, child custody cases and so on. But I think paranormal investigations on the side would be awesome and a great way to practice what I've learned.

Once you get your first EVP, you'll either get hooked buy more equipment, or maybe you'll decide that it's not your thing. I am watching this on a fifty inch HD monitor and I believe that shadow in the showers was inside and not outside. There is some interesting movement just below the window as it passes.
Benjamine Stine We're all a little confused by the shadowy figure that walks by the window. We absolutely have no explanation for who that could be. Your guess would be as good as ours my friend. We like your guess and we hope that it's right!
When the shadow was seen outside , other than asking everyone if they were outside , was there any tracks in the snow ? I find a lot of the evidence that was captured is great !! Good job guys ( and lady :) ) !!!!
Hi Deb, unfortunately we weren't aware of this event until much later when Tom J had almost completed the evidence review. Had we known that something like this was going to take place, we would have immediately tried to look into it. There's no filming behind the prison so even if there were no foot prints, I'm not sure that we could have provided any real proof of our findings. This clip really is a mystery to us at this time. We did a self tour. We didn’t experience any paranormal activity. It was very cold though, not a brr cold but a chilling lifeless cold, it felt creepy in general doing the tour. It was my husband, me and our 1 yr old. We saw quite a few others doing the tours too (we even saw another baby). Afterward we made our way to the general store that’s also really old for late lunch

I have been up there many , many times and its definitely haunted and its awesome, iv also been a volunteer up there since 09 and as a volunteer you are allowed to go anywhere in that building. I absolutely love that place and if i could get away with it i would love to just pitch a tent in the front yard and i would be totally content, that place is amazing.

You need to go to West Virginia State Penitentiary (Moundsville) it is about 1 hour away from me I live in PA and the history there.I work in the law field plus I have been there and you will not be disappointed. Love your work honestly it is the best presentation and you really can tell you are being truthful compared to other paranormal investigators that has been to WV State Penitentiary and honestly it would be really great to see your feedback on WV State Penitentiary.

Thank you for watching our video and your feedback. At this particular location shooting any video outside was prohibited because of the new prison located across the street. In reality, we have used as many as eleven cameras inside during an investigation. We simply do not have enough cameras. The footage we shoot has taken me over 250 hours to review, that is per location. Unless somebody tells us of something that happens outside on a regular basis, we simply cannot put a camera there.
Wife and I went in July 2016 .. We did not take a tour . There we had two experiences. First was the top of the cell block near all of the levers . My wife and i heard a Sound which we cant describe (sorry) But it was right between us. Sort of A hum / Weep possible . The Second in the Shower Same Block i believe . I was taking pictures of the Door and sign . My Wife went in . She came out in Less then a Minute . She said she was done. When asked she wouldn't answer. I went in , i felt nothing but a little uneasy . When she relaxed she stated something grabbed her behind the neck and squeezed. I informed a friend who recommended us to see this place. Her son , Was frightened in the same room , He stated that something was wrong and he was afraid . I would love to go back again, this time with a recorder .. Thanks For Listening ...

I didn't hear, 'Help me!' I hear ,'ohhhhhhhh.' Like someone's crying or wailing. Also the shadow figure outside has a hood, you can see it, but i want to think that its a ghost or entity. But I love watching your series, good evidence, I don't know if I truly believe in the paranormal, or if we are perceiving something else entirely but I do believe we share our world or universe with other creatures/ beings, that I believe, but I still find watching it fun. Currently watching alot of your videos.
I took my sister there a few years back for the Haunted X tour. She had her arm locked around mine out of fear the whole time, but when we left, she felt some hot pain on the same arm. She had three scratches on the inside of her arm near the elbow. But not only that, she brought something home with her. One time she saw a face looking at her from her closet. She thought it was me until I came out of my room. I even took several pictures of her room, and in just on picture, there was a faint, white, figure of a person standing in front of her bed but only in the mirror. I took more, but there was nothing there afterwards.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are demons at that prison. I don't want to be someone who scares you, but you might want to look into a way to release a bond with what it is, because human spirits cannot follow people home.
Adam Kinney Make sure that you bring a digital audio recorder with you. OSR has been pretty active every time that each of us have been there. Unfortunately OSR has been having trouble with vandalism lately. As long as your respectful to the spirits and the building, OSR will pretty much let you do what you want. I heard a story from a friend that used to volunteer at the Ohio State Reformatory about someone who did that. Apparently this person got the scare of their life. He claimed to have been pushed and knocked to the ground very aggressively. I hope that wasn't you that had that terrifying experience Clay Breedlove .
This is in regards to the basement area. The figure passing the window could possibly be a guard from the active days of the Prison. The noise, sounds like a mouse/rat trap being sprung & with the acknowledgement that there are actual rats in the Prison, it makes sense.
Thank you for watching our video and commenting. The noise does sound like a trap snapping shut, but we are not sure of what it was. The team did not notice any traps around the Reformatory, so we think it was a residual sound of some type. Maybe even a trap snapping shut. Who knows.
It's possible that the trap was behind something & basements are known to carry sound (especially when they aren't overly filled). Without actually being there, I can't give a better answer. Residual sound can be a funny thing & the old saying 'if these walls could talk' is sometimes more literal than we think (trust me I learned that the hard way).

The shadow shower situation.... That window is pointed towards the actual prison... That note on the window says "no photography" due to the prison yard
That shadow is interesting, I would of liked to know how high the window is from the ground- if it was like 8 feet or so then that would lend a lot of credibility to this- now if it was a bad storm the figure does move smoothly but it looks like its wearing a hoodie also, lol.
You make very good points David. We're not sure who this was. We thought that it was odd that this person (or figure) was able to get onto the property without security knowing about it. We had actually received reassurance from the staff at OSR that this could NOT have been an intruder. The weather was exceptionally poor this particular evening, which even further added to the mystery. This is why the footage is so compelling. We know that it was not any of us, and we have no explanation for who it was. As far as being able to see through the figure, we know that there is a way for a person to appear transparent on film in low light conditions. We're not sure if that is what is happening here, but we're certainly not ruling it out. With that said, there was no reason for someone to be outside during this time, and according the OSR, there is no way that someone could have been outside during this time. So the biggest mysteries to us all are still, "who or what is this figure shown in our video clip and how did they get there if it was not possible for them to be there?" Yesterday was my second day going Me,my uncle and my grandma all took pictures and videos We saw these weird looking white orbs floating in the pictures and we also thought we heard ghost but we weren't really sure

I live in cincinnati ohio and to be honest its a very strange city. In fact most homes, buildings, churches, and schools here are extremely hunted. Believe it or not we actually normalize it and it doesn't bother us. It bothers the children more than the adults here but as we get older we get use to it and give a excuse for every thing lol.
Im curious as to why everytime a person opens up a buliding to tours, all the sudden its haunted? For example, every bed and breakfast, every restored hotel, etc. I guess anytime a person starts to charge an admission fee it triggers some sort of super natural occurance to take place. Hmm. How conviently bennificial to the owner.

First time seeing this but it won't be the last awesome people , I've got a lot of catching up,will be fun to see what you've got up to.so American you have a new English fan,and boy do we have ghosts,London for example is the most haunted capital and there are some very interesting ghosts here.my girlfriend, without knowing the story actually saw a Victorian lady in a shabby dress walk past her(she did feel the freezing air all around)then slowly faded out,then come the research,and this poor lady was a victim of jack the ripper,but my g.friend was surprised because the ghost lady didn't have any cuts or other marks on her,and apparently she was cut up pretty badly?but I suppose that's the way she wants to be remembered....
Actually when the shadow was moving I saw that shadow was wearing a hoodie or sweater or something you said that snowfall is there on that day so now what is the answer
+manoj reddy We seen that as well - very good observation. With that said our statement remains the same. We have no idea who or what that figure (or person) was doing out there at the time this was captured. According to our source at the prison, it would have been "impossible" for someone to be outside of the building when this was filmed. We understand that the fact this figure appears to be somewhat transparent in the footage could be considered circumstantial and or even inconclusive. The fact that the figure appears to be wearing a hood is suspicious to us as well. However we also feel that if spirits can manifest it may not be fair to rule out the possibility that an entity could appear with a hood on. We weren't aware of what was captured at the time that we were investigating, therefore we weren't able to explore the event further. Even with the very kind assistance of The Ohio Sate Reformatory, this clip remains a mystery. Thank you for watching and commenting :)
+brakie44820 Thank you for commenting. All teams do things differently. We don't necessarily feel as though there's a wrong way to investigate the paranormal. We believe that from a scientific point of view, nobody can really prove that ghosts, spirits, and or the after life truly exist. It's difficult to determine the best way to investigate something that we can't even prove is really there. We choose to speak during our investigations because we feel that it could potentially encourage or evoke positive interaction. If we were looking primarily for residual type activity, then your team's method would be ideal. With that said, our only rule during our investigations is that we treat any and all potential spirits at a location with respect. We collectively agree that negative provocation should strongly be avoided. Thank you again!

Jen, Ghost hunts are recommended. But they can be influenced by the wrong group ( Goof Offs) ,We toured the place ourselves when it was slow . My friend went a few months before us. She highly Recommended this place to us . Keep a open mind , take it slow.

I can't say with much confidence that ghost apps are actually doing what they claim they're doing. However I can imagine that if someone were to download an app like this (with the intent of achieving interaction or for investigation purposes), you may experience some form of paranormal activity. I think the howl from the basement may have been the spirit of a guard dog that was killed at the prison. He is still there doing his job!!

We did a self tour. We didn’t experience any paranormal activity. It was very cold though, not a brr cold but a chilling lifeless cold, it felt creepy in general doing the tour. It was my husband, me and our 1 yr old. We saw quite a few others doing the tours too (we even saw another baby). Afterward we made our way to the general store that’s also really old for late lunch

Thank you for watching and commenting on our video. The building is very imposing to most people. Can you imagine what a prisoner felt as they drove up to it and they knew they would not be leaving anytime soon? That is chilling.
I have been up there many , many times and its definitely haunted and its awesome, iv also been a volunteer up there since 09 and as a volunteer you are allowed to go anywhere in that building. I absolutely love that place and if i could get away with it i would love to just pitch a tent in the front yard and i would be totally content, that place is amazing.

You need to go to West Virginia State Penitentiary (Moundsville) it is about 1 hour away from me I live in PA and the history there.I work in the law field plus I have been there and you will not be disappointed. Love your work honestly it is the best presentation and you really can tell you are being truthful compared to other paranormal investigators that has been to WV State Penitentiary and honestly it would be really great to see your feedback on WV State Penitentiary.

Thank you for watching our video and your feedback. At this particular location shooting any video outside was prohibited because of the new prison located across the street. In reality, we have used as many as eleven cameras inside during an investigation. We simply do not have enough cameras. The footage we shoot has taken me over 250 hours to review, that is per location. Unless somebody tells us of something that happens outside on a regular basis, we simply cannot put a camera there.
Wife and I went in July 2016 .. We did not take a tour . There we had two experiences. First was the top of the cell block near all of the levers . My wife and i heard a Sound which we cant describe (sorry) But it was right between us. Sort of A hum / Weep possible . The Second in the Shower Same Block i believe . I was taking pictures of the Door and sign . My Wife went in . She came out in Less then a Minute . She said she was done. When asked she wouldn't answer. I went in , i felt nothing but a little uneasy . When she relaxed she stated something grabbed her behind the neck and squeezed. I informed a friend who recommended us to see this place. Her son , Was frightened in the same room , He stated that something was wrong and he was afraid .

I didn't hear, 'Help me!' I hear ,'ohhhhhhhh.' Like someone's crying or wailing. Also the shadow figure outside has a hood, you can see it, but i want to think that its a ghost or entity. But I love watching your series, good evidence, I don't know if I truly believe in the paranormal, or if we are perceiving something else entirely but I do believe we share our world or universe with other creatures/ beings, that I believe, but I still find watching it fun. Currently watching alot of your videos.

I took my sister there a few years back for the Haunted X tour. She had her arm locked around mine out of fear the whole time, but when we left, she felt some hot pain on the same arm. She had three scratches on the inside of her arm near the elbow. But not only that, she brought something home with her. One time she saw a face looking at her from her closet. She thought it was me until I came out of my room. I even took several pictures of her room, and in just on picture, there was a faint, white, figure of a person standing in front of her bed but only in the mirror. I took more, but there was nothing there afterwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are demons at that prison. I don't want to be someone who scares you, but you might want to look into a way to release a bond with what it is, because human spirits cannot follow people home.

Adam Kinney Make sure that you bring a digital audio recorder with you. OSR has been pretty active every time that each of us have been there. Unfortunately OSR has been having trouble with vandalism lately. As long as your respectful to the spirits and the building, OSR will pretty much let you do what you want. I heard a story from a friend that used to volunteer at the Ohio State Reformatory about someone who did that. Apparently this person got the scare of their life. He claimed to have been pushed and knocked to the ground very aggressively. I hope that wasn't you that had that terrifying experience Clay Breedlove .
Wasn't me no one knew we went down there but it was similar to that every time I go past the building it sends chills down my spine

This is in regards to the basement area. The figure passing the window could possibly be a guard from the active days of the Prison. The noise, sounds like a mouse/rat trap being sprung & with the acknowledgement that there are actual rats in the Prison, it makes sense.
Thank you for watching our video and commenting. The noise does sound like a trap snapping shut, but we are not sure of what it was. The team did not notice any traps around the Reformatory, so we think it was a residual sound of some type. Maybe even a trap snapping shut. Who knows.
It's possible that the trap was behind something & basements are known to carry sound (especially when they aren't overly filled). Without actually being there, I can't give a better answer. Residual sound can be a funny thing & the old saying 'if these walls could talk' is sometimes more literal than we think (trust me I learned that the hard way).

That shadow is interesting, I would of liked to know how high the window is from the ground- if it was like 8 feet or so then that would lend a lot of credibility to this- now if it was a bad storm the figure does move smoothly but it looks like its wearing a hoodie also, lol.
You make very good points David. We're not sure who this was. We thought that it was odd that this person (or figure) was able to get onto the property without security knowing about it. We had actually received reassurance from the staff at OSR that this could NOT have been an intruder. The weather was exceptionally poor this particular evening, which even further added to the mystery. This is why the footage is so compelling. We know that it was not any of us, and we have no explanation for who it was. As far as being able to see through the figure, we know that there is a way for a person to appear transparent on film in low light conditions. We're not sure if that is what is happening here, but we're certainly not ruling it out. With that said, there was no reason for someone to be outside during this time, and according the OSR, there is no way that someone could have been outside during this time. So the biggest mysteries to us all are still, "who or what is this figure shown in our video clip and how did they get there if it was not possible for them to be there?" Yesterday was my second day going
Me,my uncle and my grandma all took pictures and videos
We saw these weird looking white orbs floating in the pictures and we also thought we heard ghost but we weren't really sure

I live in cincinnati ohio and to be honest its a very strange city. In fact most homes, buildings, churches, and schools here are extremely hunted. Believe it or not we actually normalize it and it doesn't bother us. It bothers the children more than the adults here but as we get older we get use to it and give a excuse for every thing lol.

Im curious as to why everytime a person opens up a buliding to tours, all the sudden its haunted? For example, every bed and breakfast, every restored hotel, etc. I guess anytime a person starts to charge an admission fee it triggers some sort of super natural occurance to take place. Hmm. First time seeing this but it won't be the last awesome people , I've got a lot of catching up,will be fun to see what you've got up to.so American you have a new English fan,and boy do we have ghosts,London for example is the most haunted capital and there are some very interesting ghosts here.my girlfriend, without knowing the story actually saw a Victorian lady in a shabby dress walk past her(she did feel the freezing air all around)then slowly faded out,then come the research,and this poor lady was a victim of jack the ripper,but my g.friend was surprised because the ghost lady didn't have any cuts or other marks on her,and apparently she was cut up pretty badly?but I suppose that's the way she wants to be remembered....

+manoj reddy We seen that as well - very good observation. With that said our statement remains the same. We have no idea who or what that figure (or person) was doing out there at the time this was captured. According to our source at the prison, it would have been "impossible" for someone to be outside of the building when this was filmed. We understand that the fact this figure appears to be somewhat transparent in the footage could be considered circumstantial and or even inconclusive. The fact that the figure appears to be wearing a hood is suspicious to us as well. However we also feel that if spirits can manifest it may not be fair to rule out the possibility that an entity could appear with a hood on. We weren't aware of what was captured at the time that we were investigating, therefore we weren't able to explore the event further. Even with the very kind assistance of The Ohio Sate Reformatory, this clip remains a mystery. Thank you for watching and commenting :)

+brakie44820 Thank you for commenting. All teams do things differently. We don't necessarily feel as though there's a wrong way to investigate the paranormal. We believe that from a scientific point of view, nobody can really prove that ghosts, spirits, and or the after life truly exist. It's difficult to determine the best way to investigate something that we can't even prove is really there. We choose to speak during our investigations because we feel that it could potentially encourage or evoke positive interaction. If we were looking primarily for residual type activity, then your team's method would be ideal. With that said, our only rule during our investigations is that we treat any and all potential spirits at a location with respect. We collectively agree that negative provocation should strongly be avoided. Thank you again!

Jennifer Mellott I am the team manager. Yes, this place is very haunted. if you ever get a chance to go on one of their ghost hunts, I would strongly recommend it.
Jen, Ghost hunts are recommended. But they can be influenced by the wrong group ( Goof Offs) ,We toured the place ourselves when it was slow . My friend went a few months before us. She highly Recommended this place to us . Keep a open mind , take it slow.

+Sara Lynn That's a really good question. I'm not going to lie, we've all been startled on more than one occasion lol. I can't say with much confidence that ghost apps are actually doing what they claim they're doing. However I can imagine that if someone were to download an app like this (with the intent of achieving interaction or for investigation purposes), you may experience some form of paranormal activity. I would advise anyone to be careful if or when attempting communication such as this if they're truly afraid. Sometimes it doesn't take much to get a response. Thank you for the comment and question!
