Dang I really like the voice for arcee. The VA seems to be able to get it up into that angry range but also in the opening monologue I don't know why but I got the sense of a masculine tone and I know that sounds weird and it is😅
I wouldn't say retconned, more like expanded upon. It's true that Arcee volunteered for the experiment, but the reason why Arcee is upset is that Jhiaxus was heavy handed with it and did nothing for aftercare when he deemed the experiment a failure, which is not something Arcee had known about before volunteering. Also worth noting is that at no point in this issue does she specifically state that she was forced into the procedure, just that the procedure itself wasn't done with appropriate care, leaving her with severe trauma. The whole thing with Arcee being forced into this experiment was the intent of the author, but not actually explicitly stated in the text itself. Everything Arcee says in this issue is still true, she just omits the fact that she initially volunteered for it. As you know, later issues with a different writer add more details to her backstory without actually retconning anything said in the text previously.
@@pumpkinspicedproductions7515 more accurately, tfwiki caught up and states that arcee sought out a gender affirmation surgery, was put through unnecessary procedures and shaped in jhiaxus's idea of reintroducing women more than her own desires, was given no aftercare, and she felt guilt over trusting him, and that moreover her rampage was kicked off by the disappearance of anode and lug. it's all there in the comics, and barber and frank have talked about it. :3 we know it's a little confusing because she has A LOT of lore as a central character and it took a while for the narrative Barber was weaving from 2012 onwards of her as a trans woman to solidify, which we would say became apparent in 2014 when she had a full body surgery from Ratchet that she was happy with
