IDW really hated Outback for some reason. They tried to kill him twice (when they couldnt due to continuity they gave him a red paintjob and renamed him Fastback) and in the one flashback he was in they made into a dirty cop.

Kup was old during the original TV series and the first movie. This feels like the poor guy landed retirement in limbo.
Well that explains why Outback never made a mark in IDW, he's dead... Granted i started reading with Phase 2 but i have all of Phase 1 in book form (Thank you Definitive Collection) so i can start reading at any time. I wonder who the other bots that Kup killed/Siren's team were...
Whoever they were, some of them were good friends with Guzzle. And he ended up nearly killing Kup over it (along with Prowl) until Impactor finally put him down.
I'm glad I've found this. I've read the complete All Hail Megatron and Last Stand of the Wreckers with some reference to these events...but to see them transpire. Also, who designed the suits? Whirl? Jhaiaxus? Brainstorm?
VA cast I had in mind for the Scavengers: Colm Meaney as Krok, Jon Kassir as Misfire, Matt Frewer as Fulcrum, Thomas F. Wilson as Spinister, Charlie Adler as Crankcase & Gregg Berger as Grimlock.

Great video. Kup's voice reminds me Jason O'Mara who voices Batman in some of the animated DC movies.

I think it was Mesothulas (aka Tarantula). In Sins of the Wreckers we see Prowl wear a similar suit in one of the flashbacks.
I'm having fun listening to these comics, it's sad the last one has been over a year ago which probably no more transformers story telling :'(
