I think you should not include launch as achieved for Firefly, ABL, Blue Origin and Sierra, but in progress. Rocked lab has it achieved at least with small payloads. That's an important difference to keep in mind. Anyway great video, thank you!!
Hi Dave. Congratulations on the wedding have a nice honeymoon. Very nice research and analysis. It shows how much competition there is again Rocket lab. Always good to look at the competition instead of being a blind fan😅
If they get Terran R up and running in 2 years and start mass producing it after that they could be the most compelling alternative the Space X they already have the facilities needed to do a launch a week once Terran R is up and running
Peter Beck is right - "I think the really large space companies in the future are not going to be companies that just do launch, or just build satellites. They're going to be the end to end space companies that do it all." So why cant Rocket Lab provide sustained downmass services? That would be "other end" of this space company services right? Is this in the product roadmap or focus point? it would be a requisite for RL to reach economies of scale, unless Neutron needs a multiblillion dollar manufacturing footprint the size of F9. It's also a nice to have for P2P cargo delivery and lunar or other planetary landing contracts attached to CLPs or Big Brother Artemis.
Dave on the Rocket Lab capsule: Rocket Lab did receive funding to build a cargo space capsule for Neutron. I would expect Rocket Lab to be wise and create a capsule that can be converted into a human capsule. The SpaceX is a human/cargo capsule, right?
Super important thing regarding vertical integration. There seem to be two models which are two implementations. The notion of vertical integration is and cannot be a goal for the purpose of cutting out competition who cannot bridge the gaps themselves. If you have three obvious business parts that make parts of the final product you don't have some magical complete business. You have individual component businesses that are either winners or losers on the open market and you can't make a loser company part less of a drag just because the comparison is not made and you have no way of measuring. where the problem is with just numbers. It is actually a complicated insurmountable problem without prices and measures of the importance of each contribution. They literally cannot be measured any other way. Jeff Bezos is a partaker in this school of thought excluding from Amazon the best option for launch. Elon so far seems to be at least partially immune to this approach willing to launch his competition. In general his companies do a thing because it is not done and they can do it better. His mission statements don't really have room for anything other than raw human progress and they are obviously useful for not frustrating engineering talent they wish to recruit. I don't think they do it because of economic calculation of profit and loss but coming from the other direction they arrive at the same place. The benefits of vertical integration are that it gets done if it is not being done and by extension if you are in charge you believe yourself about future demand for your product and can benefit from personal insight. In this vertical integration you need to look out for external prices being exposed to the market and willingness to go with the low cost alternative or believe you can best that.
The future of space is taking a break and realise how much space we have on earth. If you are a really bold space explorer, try to setlle at places on earth that are really hostile. ❤
Thanks Dave for the great videos! Have a great honeymoon and enjoy Greece!
Outstanding analysis
Thanks!
Really good overview, putting the players in prospective... Very happy to be along for the ride with RBLK...

Blue I agree, but SIerra and FireFly would have Antares, Minotaur, Atlas, Delta.
Thank you for all your research. Great job!

Such a dynamic industry. Truly exciting times we live it.
Relativity Space is done for in my opinion.

Great update. Enjoy Greece
Good update.
Thanks Dave, watching. And congrats again!
Good summation
For Sierra Space, wouldn’t orbital reef count as space operations? Really great video. Congrats on your wedding!
Orbital reef is Blue no?

Congratulations on you wedding, enjoy your honeymoon 🎉
So how many shipping companies own the companies that ship with them? Some verticals make sense, other don't. Why no mention of ground infrastructure?
Hi Dave & evertone else

Surprised relativity didnt come up
Hey Dave, I am Greek, hope you have a nice honeymoon, where are you going there? Santorini?
Answer : The World may never know!!!!! 🎉
