Barcode vs RFID

Hi, I am Justin Velthoen and I am from QStock Inventory.
Today I am going to go over one of my most frequently asked questions, and that is Barcode vs RFID, which one is better?
The two reasons we look at barcoding is for Accuracy and Efficiency. RFID is really more about automation.
You can have a barcode in UPC, Code 128, Code 129, 2D Barcodes, QR Codes, there are dozens of different ways to read the information in this format. The really nice thing is that it is something I can point a scanner to and read directly.
RFID is a near field identifier which means that if I am going to scan an item I need to be near it. The problem is that while i scan this box, I'll be picking up everything else around it. So imagine a picker going to a pick location, scanning an item, he would have to be right up next to it and the reader would have to be turned down so low that it would be very difficult to scan. If he was on a forklift he would be getting off and on for each pick.
Another big factor that a lot of people find is the cost difference between the two. A barcode is easy to get into. You do need a barcode scanner, generally a printer, but a lot of warehouse management systems, just like QStock Inventory, will map the barcode of the UPC label to your item number so you don't actually have to relabel any of your product which is a great savings.
With RFID it is a more expensive scanner, a more expensive printer, and the tags themselves are actually more expensive.
I don't want to discourage you from either, it is really your choice and it is very dependant on your business and how everything flows through your warehouse and the way that your team needs to tough it.

RFID's have a greater advantage and they have protocols that avoids cluttering of incoming information.

DO you know that RFID can be used 100 feets away?? haha that is its main advantage over Barcode and QR code... Limited understanding

bro you need to redo this video and need to reevaluate wht oyu know about RFID and barcode. for both BARCODE and RFID you need to be close. how can you scan an item with befing 3 feet away? the only thing your right about this video is that printing a barcode is much easier and cost effective then a RFID. YET the RFID beats barcodes basicaly in every way. YOU need to do more reaserch Brother.

@victor not quite true on barcode scanning. There are plenty of long range scanners that can allow you to scan many feet away up to 40-50 feet away.

lets say that is the case. you would need to have all of the boxes facing one specific way and scanning boxes within boxes would take too much time. rfid simplifies the whole process. if you want to scan everything you can. its much simpler than bar-codes.
