Mr. Niemczuk looks so excited in this video! I think that's the feeling of this waltz: energic, playful and virtuoso, very like Chopin in the early ages.

Absolutely a beautiful rendition of this waltz. I am working on it now and I see it with different eyes. I have listened to several interpretations of this waltz and some of them are played with neck breaking speed. I wanted to chuckle and ask the artist “are you running to catch your flight”.? Thank you for pointing out the hidden gems in Chopin’s music.

Hi my Dear Greg, I have enjoyed this waltz very much it really is just fun to play but I think it is too fast for a beginner like me. Your speed is amazingly wonderful, every time I see Chopin’s in his music how much he was so excited to play just any thing for every budy, you are giving me so much information that I can not help but to love his music.love you Greg for giving us so much information about Chopin.

Thank you for coming back to the complicated part because my mind would not stop gnawing away in curiosity. It to me feels like the suspended notes are playfully having a game of hide and seek! ☺️

For that ending of the first theme, every piece of sheet music I can find has it staying within the same octave (restarting on the same b-flat) instead of climbing up

Interesting. I'm using the new National Jan Ekier edition, recommended by the National Chopin Institute.

@@gregniemczuk Well, I'd say that's probably trustworthy then 😅 I was hearing the return to b-flat on an Ashkenazy recording as well, but I also found a different video of another concert pianist playing it the same way as the Jan Ekier edition. I wonder how these different editions come about? Either way -- Love the piece and your playing/analysis. Thank you!
