Are you afraid of that air piston going dead in 15 years and not being able to get it from PM? Powermatic is now owned by Jet and could be sold again(likely), or absorbed as a brand with certain machines being discontinued in favor of the parent brand model. I would rather it be a spring system than a piston. Easier to replace. Is this review sponsored at all by powermatic, are you? I think review videos should state that up front.
Pistons of all sizes are always available online. After all, PM doesn't spec these parts, they generally use "off the shelf" parts . I wouldn't be concerned at all

Leave 1/8 of the spindle sticking out of the square bit. That needs to engage the wood before the chisel does.
