Had one come into the sharpening shop a couple of days ago. Looks like it was found, whilst metal detecting. If this is what they plan to do with it, sending it to me for sharpening should have been the final step.
It's COHOES, not Ohio. Cohoes is a town in upstate New York. That may be a NOS blade, the poll appears unblemished. Good find! You need to remove the pitting on the flat side to get the best edge. Now you need to learn how to use it. Thanks!
Yeah I was spotting some stuff, made me feel better about my resto videos (still some mistakes) but cool seeing someone getting out there and hitting the record button!
As far as I can tell you never ground all of the pits out of the back side down near the edge. That means that every where the edge intersects a pit there is a nick. When in use, every nick in the blade will leave a ragged line on the wood. Not really a restoration, only a prettying up.
Nicely done sir! New life for a old beauty! Now get hewing!
Beautiful work on the handle! Mirror finish on the axe it’s the way to go. Well everyone thinks different . 🙂
She’s a beauty. Now to see her in action!
Very beautifully done. Remarkable.
Beautiful job!

Nice to see that you didn't tape off the red/black distinction line. Just my Taste. A1.
