Hello, I’m glad you finally found it, I am Lloyd the original builder of the vehicle you met at Santa pod nearly ten years ago. I would love to know where the car is myself, just to keep tabs on when it is competing etc. Please get in contact, I’m currently building an old air cooled 911 which is going to be an exciting project.

New sub after watching this ❤ what a great story. Also the Max Power stories are quite addictive to watch tbh. I bought a car that was featured in the centre pages of Fast Car magazine in mid 1996. The story was called 'The Great Pretenders' and it featured my car and another car. It was because they pretended to be Escort Coswoths at a glance. The shoot was done when the car was owned by the previous keeper and I bought in the same month it was featured. The shoot was at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire if I remember rightly. It was around June/July 1996. The car was a Mk 4 escort XR3i with a Mk5 Coz Illusion bodykit with the whale tale spoiler on the back. I'm pretty sure they were new at the time. It had a full set of Escort Cosworth wheels it was painted yellow and blue in the Michelin Pilot rally style with all the correct decals. The interior had full leather with custom made pilot seat cards door cards ect. The engine had had various tuning work done with a big exhaust. Full system of ice ect. It had literally had 1000s put into it. I saw the car for sale on Auto Traider at the time and was looking for something a bit different and had no idea it was in the magazine until I contacted the seller. The original owner...a guy called John...had done all the work himself to a very high standard. I bought the car from Liverpool and brought it back to Stockport and used it as my daily for 2yrs. I soon got sick of the attention it brought so I parked it up. It got a key down the side of some idiot and I claimed on the insurance..the car was insured at an agreed value of £5000 with everything declared. I had payed £6000 for the car but could only get an agreed value of 5k. It went back and forth to the insurance and the body shop for months until they finally agreed to carry out the bodywork and paint damage. When I took it to the body shop on the date set I was told that the work had been put on hold AGAIN. At this point I left the car at the body shop. In the meantime I received an offer for the car as it was from a friend who worked at a garage. He restored the damage and also other parts of the kit that had cracked over time. The car was lowered and had quite a harsh ride so the kit had small splits in places. It did live on for a few more years in his ownership and even appeared in a photo section of Max Power wirh the title 'More subtle than Pat Butchers earings'. After a couple of years I think he sold it on. Probably scrapped by now. EDIT: I forgot to say I took the insurance company to the ombudsmen service and I received a check for £2500 for my inconvenience so with what I sold the car for I made all my money back 😁
Can I just say something What a company to buols these dreams dreams making dreams come true what a beautiful car they are all in all people loke the hell out. Of thiis video share spread the love of this little kid bringing this machine to our phones tvs etc. ...❤❤❤TEC
Honesty no disrespect and I'm the biggest petrol head there is , but I can't work out in my personal opinion how a random snap shot of the lad with this car in the pic at Santa pod is gonna give any sort of closure, was it a special car to the lad his favorite he always talked about and dreamt off ??? I'm guessing it's the old man's dream car and the lad happened to be in the pic , there must be shit loads of pics of him and different cars , I can't see this giving closure anyway shape or form to me anyway I really truly hope it does, what ever small or big thing to move on that would be amazing,,, id be more of they collin mcray the lad sat in would have been more closure for me
So as a father myself, there’s always little things you do with your kids which ALWAYS stick in your memory. Weather that be a song, photo, food etc a the photo is the image what always came to mind when thinking of his son. Even though he has 100’s of other ones. This one imprinted in his memory.
Some people just don't understand the connection we have with cars....well done Adam
