He simply means that while taking a ton of life nodes (240% isn't a lot, it's average - as he stated) works, there are other options. Your comment is like criticizing saying "making toast with a toaster isn't the only way" - while it seems odd, it's true.
It's about hitting 250% or so while maximizing everything else (damage, non-HP defence, special nodes); 250% is only 30 or so well-placed points, on a level 85 character you have about 100 points.
Interesting...and now you tell us how to mitigate burst dmg and reflect. For reflect I wonder if you can just stack res + life as a caster? Or do you need a certain amount of lifeleech? Do you actually calculate anything or just try out if it works?
Good vid Kripp covered some good points. I personally went a Dual Wield block build, running about 20K dps spell and phys block cap, 350 hp regen a second and about 4k HP (and rising). Only 75 map bosses challenge me and even at that I can just avoid the big hits by moving aside.
Yes, but If I remember correctly resists don't do anything past (I think) 75%, but obviously there's things that can lower this such as map mods, or the mobs you're fighting, so having it over the cap never hurts.
What's OP? kirpp has a 6 linked weapon and a koams, koams is worth ~ 30 exalted for a reason, and I couldn't tell you how much his staff is worth, but it'd be a lot too. kripp's build is just super min/maxed and has the best gear he could get his hands on, as in it's pretty much a complete endgame build.
I've been trying to get my friend in to this game, one of the biggest barriers for him is how complicated and deep the game is. There is A TON to learn about this game. I'm not sure where you got your crazy idea from.
I started playing a Templar with an emphasis on Intelligence and Cold Spells. I love Cold Snap and Ice Nova, particularly, and have been trying to focus a bit on Energy Shield rather than Armor or Evasion. Surely, this isn't the most optimal set-up for a character, but I lack a spell user in my character list and I wanted to experiment. I find myself preferring AoE spells and was curious how viable Cold is past the initial playthrough. Kripp likes Lightning, but I prefer the esthetic of Cold.
The problem i have with PoE is that i level extremly slowly, i can sit a whole night and play and after i'm done i have barely gained any levels at all. Well, intresting and helpfull video as always Kripp! :)
very informative video .. i just started doing maps for the first time on my hc char and so far it's working out somewhat ok, but it's good to know what I have to aim for to be able to successfully do higher lvl maps.
You are correct, but he has a point for sure. I'd still like to see more not only work but actually be at par with the infamous Kripp builds. I think he's just smart and puts his mind to it while we cry and watch his videos looking for "THE BEST WAY" when we should just be creative and figure it out ourselves. Idk
They have a hard cap, you can raise it slighty with Purity and some skills, but never to 100%. Unless Chaos Inclusion, which really makes you "immune" to chaos damage, thats the only thing.
I really don't like D3's artstyle. It tries to be dark but somewhat fails in that by throwing in pretty popping colors. It looks odd to me. But what really kills D3 for me is the builds - since they're almost non-existant. Throw a rune in there, paragon points - done.
SirMalorak thats becus they made it for so casuals shall pick up and play, the motto inside the gaming industry is" console minded pick up and play" thereoff.. d3 comes with a manual and poe doesnt, hardcore means difficulty casual too hardcore d3
That would not be possible since it depends on how you play and how lucky/unlucky you are. You cannot know if you're randomly gonna have a lagspike or if you're suddenly going too get surrounded and so on. You can't calculate what you can't know.
I wish I could just talk to Kripp and ask him about the specific build I want to try to see what he thinks about it. This was an excellent video though. I will keep all this stuff in mind. Currently, my mindset is "defense defense defense". In other words, life nodes.
it may not be 1/4 of your skills but your not factoring in the fact that you have to travel to those nodes... so it ends up usually being at least 2/3 or more of your build in life node related skills (nodes and travel)
low life is not as popular in hc, because there are no flasks that heal energy shield. Also energy shield is not as visible as the health pool. So once your energy shield is low and you are in a tough spot you are pretty much dead if you cannot leave in time, whereas with life you might take 2 instant pots (and maybe a quicksilver) to survive..
That's part of the 'Kripp-erience'. You don't subscribe to his channel to see a certain game. You subscribe to learn and laugh about whatever game it is that he spends his time playing, and him as a person. A large part of that is the rave wall behind him, the shirtz, and his awesome stylin' facial hair.
@MerryBlind- You can make the build how you feel like, that's exactly what POE lets you do that D3 and other dungeon crawlers lack. Just because you made a build that sucks shit, doesn't mean that the game is bad. Yea you can go ANY build, but there is no guarantee the build you go is any good.
This must exist in the game to make build choices actually matter, and fun. The thought process has to be, lets try unique skill points (X) while keeping Y(HP) and Z(Armor Resist) passable. If you didn't have any barriers you could just take all the herp skills one build, and that would work fine. Next all the derp skills in another build, and that would work too!
I think you should maybe remind the newcomers to this channel ever so often in a video that most of your theorycrafting is mainly meant for hardcore league. In default you don't need near as much HP/ES and can be way more lenient with certain things, and you only play hardcore. Sure these builds work for both, but it centralizes peoples thought process of "I MUST GET 320% HP ON EVERY CHARACTER OR I WILL ALWAYS DIE FOREVER". Just a suggestion.
I don't think I've see anyone compares PoE with WoW, but I'm pretty sure that Comparing it to Diablo 3 does happen, which is funny as hell. I do wish that they would add ragdolls like they did for Titans Quest, that was really sweet, cause it was hilarious :D
I'm going to inform you about this subject as a designer myself: As a matter of fact it isn't really hard to understand once you know it, realistic graphics are nice for as long as it's new at least. You see, realistic graphics are going to be outdated after a while. However, cartoony graphics are not. Sure you can tell the difference between certain games, but Cartoony graphics do in fact not age as they're not realistic but fantasy. Seems explaining it isn't as easy as I thought after all haha
You need to add to the equation that it is just 2 different graphic styles, yes D3 can probably be considered cartoonish, but that doesn't mean it has worse graphics. Actually I'm pretty sure it takes a bigger toll on your graphics than PoE does, so I think you just need to look at what is required from your graphics card to determine it. Ofc it comes down to opinion aswell (I really like PoE's graphics fx), but still.
So uh, if you ever manage to fuck up enough to die on that character, could you do a giveaway or something with it's valuable shit? I'm not sure what you normally do when a build goes down to default.
IMO, EK is strong early-mid mapping but the nature of EK limits the build late late mapping. The best builds in this game take advantage of elemental damage and their status effects as elemental reflect is not as serious as physical reflect and the scaling on elemental is so high.
unfortunately it seems most POE builds are pretty much the same; they're all preety much a variant of - templar life nodes, maruader life nodes, static blows and the life nodes near them, inner force and iron reflexes mix and match those and you've got 90% of all end game builds
so many kids and haters here :D funny thing is how everyone isl ike : no my game has more skill no this game is more pro.....beeing proud of beeing good in a video game? pathetic shit man Kripp is just a smart guy and very sympatic cause he takes his viewers sirous and really gives good advices to new players, good work keep it up
+Howie “Voracity” Voracity As already said its a 2+ year old video, but.. No build does a million DPS, trust me. No build does half that. The amount of bugged tooltips and poorly handled calculations makes those numbers seem possible but it's really not. I have a Reaver doing roughly 25-30k tooltip DPS and it kills anything faster than a 100k-200k tooltip Dual Strike build. Even Pre-Nerf Mjolner doesn't do that much, it's pretty poor single target.
He said he enjoyed the campaign, but RTS isnt his style of game, which i can understand, as on a competitive level, its a totally different kind of skill than in a Hack&Slay, the major "details" of the game arent deep, its the execution of the game that is in constant flow (you can easily build perfect build orders, you might not be able to play them, but you can easily find out what they are).
How does anyone get currency to make a toon like this? I had my currency hacked and had to replay and hope I got some currency. I barely have any at all and my lvl 74 wander and 60 lightning arrow marauder have crap gear. My lvl 74 still uses lvl 30-40 armor, and jewelery is all low. I cannot find enough currency/items to make my toons better. I end up saving it all and hoping to trade, but everyone thinks i have 10+ GCPs.... What do I do?
240% is not a high amount, you can get as highest somewhere around 450% and that is with 8% life reg, so 240% is rather low tbh. but yes for HC you do need the life to survive.
If your purposely using points to find nodes I would question ur build. I was able to get 254% by simply grabbing them on the way to my foundational passives. That only up to around lvl 80 I believe
I thought the game was OK. I played it through with like 4 characters on just normal. Never really liked the hardcore way to play hack n slash but it's kind of impressive how in depth Kripp is going :) So for hardcore players it seems like a very nice game being F2P and all.
You're pretty true, but I know a lot of forumers 1) don't even give one single rip about what I say, and 2) are not near as smart as Kripp, who has a lot of ideas and has thought about this game more than Chris Wilson himself (haha jk but like almost). "It's kind of hard to reach 10K as EK". I didn't hear him say impossible, also I heard 10k, not 9k. Etup is the highest level in the entire game right now, so I doubt Krip is going to mention him as an average.

Right on. And I hope everyone is as glad as I am because of that.

krip i play POE cuz of you. You helped me realized the awesomeness of this franchise.
I don't think he was saying that was one build, just the various types such as building around low life.
Yo, Kripp, what do u do for a living?
Will you show us doing a map on youtube, I want to see this character at 90.
You are correct, but he has a point for sure. I'd still like to see more not only work but actually be at par with the infamous Kripp builds. Chronosphere Steen You can totally balance Casual-friendly and depth in a game without making it weird. And D3 chose the casuals. Meh.
but there is a flaw, wouldn't the lightbulb he has on 24/7 factor into it
how much projectile speed does he has? is that 60% from quality FP enough?
That would not be possible since it depends on how you play and how lucky/unlucky you are. You cannot know if you're randomly gonna have a lagspike or if you're suddenly going too get surrounded and so on. You can't calculate what you can't know.
What is the name of the gems of the aura that is around his character?
How exactly does one counter reflect mobs? Life on hit + Life leech?
Probably because his window is to his right. Like vegetation grows towards the light, its the same with body hair.
I wish I could just talk to Kripp and ask him about the specific build I want to try to see what he thinks about it. This was an excellent video though. I will keep all this stuff in mind. Currently, my mindset is "defense defense defense". In other words, life nodes.
I appreciate these videos, Kripparian. Thanks.
he always gets so sentimental at the end
Hey Krip, make a video about any previous relationships you were in and why they ended. Thanks.
kripp always so happy in the end of the video
it may not be 1/4 of your skills but your not factoring in the fact that you have to travel to those nodes... so it ends up usually being at least 2/3 or more of your build in life node related skills (nodes and travel)

cause you can go full blown defense when building EK cause the skill does enough damage on its own so you dont need any offense in your build at all
Where's the alira video?
This must exist in the game to make build choices actually matter, and fun. The thought process has to be, lets try unique skill points (X) while keeping Y(HP) and Z(Armor Resist) passable. given that we never have the chance to take a look at your figure while standing, that character name is.. well telling
what level are you on?
I don't think I've see anyone compares PoE with WoW, but I'm pretty sure that Comparing it to Diablo 3 does happen, which is funny as hell.
I do wish that they would add ragdolls like they did for Titans Quest, that was really sweet, cause it was hilarious :D
i've finished it on xbox and i can confirm it was amazing and immerse experience
Kripp i know u dont play so many game titles often but could u check out the new bioahock n tell us your thoughts? :) love ur vids man keep it up

Why is it not good to group with an EK? Why does he take from your tankiness, I didn't get that
Lord Eleshar takes too long too kill i quess
depends, marauder has all the HP nodes just in the begining.
So uh, if you ever manage to fuck up enough to die on that character, could you do a giveaway or something with it's valuable shit? I'm not sure what you normally do when a build goes down to default.
hey krypp how bout a vid on how to reach 60?
IMO, EK is strong early-mid mapping but the nature of EK limits the build late late mapping. The best builds in this game take advantage of elemental damage and their status effects as elemental reflect is not as serious as physical reflect and the scaling on elemental is so high.
Just beat the new Tomb Raider on PC with my xbox controller, it was amazing and recommend it for a fresh experience!
Is this a HC char?
is the max level 100?
unfortunately it seems most POE builds are pretty much the same;
they're all preety much a variant of - templar life nodes, maruader life nodes, static blows and the life nodes near them, inner force and iron reflexes

can u post this characters build? with details pls.
so many kids and haters here :D funny thing is how everyone isl ike : no my game has more skill no this game is more pro.....beeing proud of beeing good in a video game? pathetic shit man Kripp is just a smart guy and very sympatic cause he takes his viewers sirous and really gives good advices to new players, good work keep it up
what it is is that POE has different graphics than the format blizzard usally uses
20k extremely high dps? what about the cast on crit builds that do dps in the millions
This was 2013 and keep in mind he was talking about hardcore.
Jaffa Entroepy This was back in 2013 before absurdly overpowered uniques like Mjolner
+Howie “Voracity” Voracity As already said its a 2+ year old video, but.. No build does a million DPS, trust me. No build does half that. Koroar some tooltips show even less dps than they do, mostly ranged skills
totally agreed. I don't understand them either. I think this game has really nice and detailed graphics, not even counting the fact it's a free game!
KRIP SHOW SOME GAMEPLAY OF THIS BOSS CHARACTER
"Whenever someone tells you to get a life, you show them your Kaom!" Kripp 2013
He said he enjoyed the campaign, but RTS isnt his style of game, which i can understand, as on a competitive level, its a totally different kind of skill than in a Hack&Slay, the major "details" of the game arent deep, its the execution of the game that is in constant flow (you can easily build perfect build orders, you might not be able to play them, but you can easily find out what they are).
Only thing is that the armors are very low res. But the game has character from its graphics.
KRIPPP plz make a vid on yuor marauder fp build plz!
or just a skill tree link!
When i turned the sound off i thought that kripp is a raper...
240% is not a high amount, you can get as highest somewhere around 450% and that is with 8% life reg, so 240% is rather low tbh. but yes for HC you do need the life to survive.
you sure you didn't reply to the wrong person because he didn't say anything to do with "elo hell"
If your purposely using points to find nodes I would question ur build. I was able to get 254% by simply grabbing them on the way to my foundational passives. That only up to around lvl 80 I believe
Can someone explain how EK equals tanky?
the frame rate is a little off in this video, dunno why.
I thought the game was OK. I played it through with like 4 characters on just normal. Never really liked the hardcore way to play hack n slash but it's kind of impressive how in depth Kripp is going :) So for hardcore players it seems like a very nice game being F2P and all.
Path to each classes starting tree.
they need to make more trap passives.i wanted to make a trap build just for lolz but theres like a total of 6 trap related passives :/
I think you should expand on this video dude. Maybe expand on some statistics!
You're pretty true, but I know a lot of forumers 1) don't even give one single rip about what I say, and 2) are not near as smart as Kripp, who has a lot of ideas and has thought about this game more than Chris Wilson himself (haha jk but like almost). Not only that but people have this mindset that only Freeze Pulsers and Static Blows'ers will succeed in this world. I don't want to run into that. But maybe I will make a post about it and expect poop but maybe get someone smart. Thanks
I wonder what would have been if his wand templar didn't die. That char would be fucking beast.
I'm building a freeze pulse tank shadow right now.
I thought the comment through
I said 90% of all builds
CI ?
watch the streams featured on POE's website
look at exilepro .com
look at the builds for the top 50 players on the hardcore ladder
how many CI builds do you see ?
Totems ?
so you're saying totem builds don't get the life nodes or static blows or inner force ?
pure EV ?
are you talking about evasion ?
are you're saying evasion builds don't use iron reflexes or life ?
you didn't think your comment thought did you ?
Grace, Determination, Haste & Purity
you don't have to get ALL the possible life nodes
just 95% of them
When I started the game I went for the easiest build I could find...Dual Totem Summoner, and everything until act 2 merciless Vaal was a joke, I got almost 10 meat shield's and 2 totems that i can "endlessly" throw down, and I cant take reflect. And I'm nearing the end of Merciless, I got a couple map's while farming, This build is so cheesy I don't think I'll do bad.
Please, more builds Kripp on Exile Pro, thanks a lot.
i did a map at 3k health
+MoMo BunnyLeg 2013.
Tomtenisse Powercool 2015
MoMo BunnyLeg My point exactly.
well he is right, it is a team-play game and if you have alot of feeders in your team it will be hard to win ofcourse
This is the internet, not Facebook. Go outside and make some drama queen friends if you want to hear about that.
All I could think while watching this video was "dude looks very Armenian"...then I saw his name. Parev from FL. Make a new video with new changes as I'm a noob and need pointers.. :)
"It's kind of hard to reach 10K as EK". I didn't hear him say impossible, also I heard 10k, not 9k. Etup is the highest level in the entire game right now, so I doubt Krip is going to mention him as an average.
how I define top tier builds in PoE: Static Blows
Yeah, you can hit a target with all 5 projectiles, but that doesn't mean you ALWAYS are.
At 75%, you take X damage. At 85%, you've reduced the damage you take (X) by
*** 40 % *** !!!
So lets say you have a hit for 4000 after 75% resist. Without resists that was actually 16,000 damage. Reduce 16,000 by 85% instead of 75% and you get: 2400.
Incredibly effective! :D
Not even got through Cruel yet on any character :)
Depends really. If you are a person who constantly changes champs, I guess there is alot to learn. But if you play between a few champs, the game isn't really that advanced.
Yeah, but don't worry. It's practically impossible to cap out atm.
I don't think human cells have plant cell walls....
idk what level you are but you do realize that if you die on softcore you lose experience points.. just letting you know..
Path of Life nodes, hilarious, never thought about that.
Are you? He does have more on the right
