    Is Antarctica the ultimate expedition cruise? A huge warm (well cold actually) welcome to our brand new vlog series as we travel nearly 10,000 miles to the most remote and uninhabited place in the world for a once in a lifetime cruise. Join us for part three as the weather turns against us and we encounter some very smelly penguins and a very loud glacier! Watch as some very brave people plunge into the icy waters before a huge ice berg threatens to destroy the marina!

    Another amazing video!!! Ok, I'm a little disappointed you folks didn't do the polar plunge but it was great to see the other people doing it. You really make the best video's I've seen and it is appreciated more than you know. Can't wait for more from this trip.

      Well, it was a toss up of filming it or jumping in ourselves - we couldn't do both and there was only one opportunity so we thought of our lovely viewers first. :D

    As someone from a warmer country (although it does snow at our holiday cottage in the hills outside the city) -(Melbourne) I think the snow on the ship was lovely and cosy and I’d just sit in a lounge watching it. I’m a snow bird.
    That snow stratification on the cliffs was fascinating.

      It was beautiful - cold but beautiful ❄️
      We’ll never forget eating a bbq out on the open decks with Antarctica as a back drop (even though the burger was cold before we even out our plate on the table 😂😂😂)

    I have mixed feelings about the Plunge. On one hand, it’s a box to tick, on the other hand, I’ve been in icy ocean water so I don’t know if I have a real desire to do it again.

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  ปีที่แล้ว

      We were the same (haven’t been in icy ocean water before though 😳). Still slightly regret not doing it but at the time we just couldn’t face getting that cold again. Oh well, we’ll just have to go back I suppose 😁
      Thanks for watching 👍

    What a pleasure it has been to view your spectacular footage! Being unable to afford cruising, it's always a privilege to "visit with you"!! The penguins..... Ah yes; always fun to watch!.... Along with which, your aptly chosen " penguin music".

    I can't believe they did the plunge without harnesses. I thought that was compulsory so they can drag you out if need be.

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One of the reasons we didn’t do it! That, and we didn’t want to clamber into the floating platoon. If they’d been a proper ladder we might have done it.

    Fantastic video and the penguins are so cool. We just finished our 7 day Galapagos cruise and also saw tons of penguins, amazing to see them in warm equatorial weather. We are now on our second week which is the Machu Picchu segment. I did the blue nose water jump with Viking North of the Arctic Circle, but, it was on the ship and not in the water. The Polar Plunge looked fun, but, I would probably have just taken photos as well.

      Thank you very much! We're trying to make this vlog a bit more detailed so viewers can get a feel for what it's like to sail in Antarctica. It's too far and very expensive for many, so we hope to do it justice. :)

    I was there in February 2020 and the weather couldn’t have been more different. Blue sky sunshine absolutely stunning. I was on the Silver Cloud and we didn’t have any days where there was snow on the decks. It seem to be unseasonably warm. No way was I going to do the polar plunge. I hate cold water. But lots did it and enjoyed it🤷‍♀️

    • @ummanonym9708
      @ummanonym9708 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But how did you get there if some people navigated to Antarctica with their own boats where arrested by a military big boat who told them to evacuate the area !?? How it’s possible that some ordinary people can travel there ?

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems to make a difference going just a few weeks later. Though tbf it still wasn’t that cold, just a little greyer at times.
      We do have slight regrets about not doing the plunge - maybe we’ll have to go back one day 😆

    Whilst this fascinates me, it would be the husband's idea of hell. He won't even go on an Alaska or fjords cruise in the summer!

    • @chriswilliams6568

      I would not do this either, but have done Alaska 3 times. We had 24C temp in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. We love Norway and have booked a June 16 day with Princess that goes right to the very top, sadly due to Covid, we had to cancel in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Hoping to book for 2024.
