NTA! Absolutely hands down NTA! He did what every father SHOULD do! He protected the VICTIM even if the abuser was his own son, he protected the victim. He is a true hero!
Hahah... No, You're not the A-hole OP(If you're reading this) You showed your son, how helpless it is, when someone goes against someone much stronger than themselves. You did the right thing? Now all you need is time. If you're son realizes his mistakes and comes to you for one last desperate push for help. Give it. He doesn't need to be forgiven over night, when he comes asking. But? Give him time.
I think the father did the right thing because, the son knew what he was doing was wrong. He chose to put his hands on her, so for him to not do it again he needs to know what it feels like to be on the other end. You can explain why it happened why it was wrong and how it made you feel all day, but again those are only words coming from a second hand story. So mess him up a good bit and he won't do it again. Because he will know what it feels like
shit the only monster I see is the son OP was god sent from heaven and did the right thing he showed his son what it was like to be weaker and that is something all men should teach their sons if they are anything like ops son I was abused in one of my relationships got a black eye my eye was all red inside too did my abuser get told anything by any of his family no so called the cops and they still didnt give af they just bailed him out he was being charged with DV and do I sure wish they did this to him instead of saying its ok it doesn't matter you were just angry like who gives af if he's angry he still has no right to lay a hand on me if I havent played a hand on him he's a piece of shit and doesn't deserve to live anyone who hits anyone for no reason female or male are all ice of shits bc who do you think you are doing that and I just can't believe youre gonna be one of those parents that would just bale their son or daughter out without teaching them a lesson or at least telling them something If one of my kids did this best believe im doing the same as OP
There is another part to the story boyfriend was not the one who beat her up, she was cheating on BF with another guy so he found out and kicked out of the apartment and she went to the another guy that guy beat her so she framed the BF 😂 later the father found out that GF has framed his son, father tried asking forgiveness and son didn't want to see his father 😞

Ah yes, the dad become the monster like his dad who corrected a wrong with another wrong.
I don't think that is true, but I'd still like to hear more of what you think.
