When I first started watching this series, I wasnt very fond of this song. It was ok, but i never went out of my way to watch this. Now, with Ten having been long gone, and eleven about to leave, I listen to it more and more and smile with teary eyes. No one has ever taught me more about love and loss, life and death, and what family is, than the Doctor. THIS is why Doctor Who will always be the best Sci-Fi show in the world.
Just watched The Christmas Invasion, properly live on TV for the first time since 2005. December 23rd, 2019. I had tears several times. None more so than when this scene arrived. When Chris, David, Billie, Noel, John and Camille were there along with Murray’s unforgettable music and Russell’s vision, this programme was my entire world when I was young. This song is emblematic to that entire pocket of time. It’s hard to listen to. It represents something I loved that just isn’t there anymore and hasn’t been for over a decade now. I wish I had a Tardis so I could go back to 2005 and 2006, and see their impact again. The only word I can use for it is special. It was truly special. The programme was like a friend holding your shoulder that you could depend on. I’m thankful for every meeting and every discussion that gave it life. I’m thankful for the staff’s hours of work to make something fantastic. I’m thankful for the smiles it still brings. I’ll always have that era and I’ll always hold it close. Things don’t last forever and that is heartbreaking. Times change, but all we can do is admire times gone by and remember the joy they brought.
Yay!! Finally someone used the actual song that was for The Doctor and Rose from the real series! It sums up The Doctor's feelings for her and how he feels so well, it's perfect - the clips matched perfectly aswell!
Perfect! I always associated the lyrics "oceans apart / I want you to know... (trailing off into la las)" with the Doctor being cut off before telling Rose what we all know he wanted to say, so I love that this video uses that clip! Once again, the Christmas episodes always produce upbeat songs that make me cry.
this is magnificent, i really love this video, i have viewed it at least 50 times now!. the music has such strength and power that makes you sad, well it made me sad, it makes you remember old things too MARVELOUS! 5/5
11/30/08 My first time to watch this fanvid.. Wow.. this may be the best compliation I've seen... and I've seen a bunch... You have a great eye and aesthetic .. We'll really miss our Perfect 10 .. :O(
This song evokes such memories. Can see scenes of Tennant and Rose in my head (not just in this video). What a fantastic job these two have done. Would really love to see them together again after the soul dead Jodie Whittaker run.
I love this video so much! I found it when I just got into Doctor Who for the first time and I loved it so much. I couldn't find it again for the longest time so I'm so happy that I was able to find it again! It is still to this day perhaps my favourite Doctor Who fan video!
Hi, my youtube account was suspended in the years they were trying to force the connection to the failed google plus social network. I was able to restore it later. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I know people aren’t fond of this version, but I tend to enjoy it more than the Phillips rendition. The additional lyrics telling the story of rose and 10 are just beautiful.
I love it so much, It's so perfect!!! I recently started watching the tenth doctor's episodes and have just finished series 2 and Doomsday broke my heart, it was just so sad because Ten and Rose loved each other so much. This is (of course) the perfect song for Ten and the clips were just right, it made me almost cry a little though. Though I'm only young before now I always watched only classic Who but now, after watching Ten, I think he might actually be my favorite Doctor. This video was great, thank you.
Thank you for your kind comment. I am glad that this video still makes people happy, even after whopping 14 years since I have originally made it. And I am glad that people are still discovering the tenth Doctor, his run is great and I have loved every episode of it.
Well I woke up today And the world was a restless place It could have been that way for me And I wandered around And I thought of your face That Christmas looking back at me I wish today was just like every other day 'Cause today has been the best day Everything I ever dreamed And I started to walk Pretty soon I will run And I'll come running back to you 'Cause I followed my star And that's what you are I've had a merry time with you I wish today was just like every other day 'Cause today has been the best day Everything I ever dreamed So have a good life Do it for me Make me so proud Like you want me to be Where ever you are I'm thinking of you oceans apart I want you to know Well I woke up today and you're on the other side Our time will never come again But if you can still dream Close your eyes it will seem That you can see me now and then I wish today was just like every other day 'Cause today has been the best day Everything I ever dreamed I wish today was just like every other day 'Cause today has been the best day Everything I ever dreamed
I'm fairly sure this is a version I recorded with my computer as it was broadcast online on BBC radio. Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened to the whole recording, it is probably on some old HDD somewhere...
@@SevenJetC just for that you're like all of the Doctor Who fans in the 70s who recorded the classic series on VHS and accidentally became the people who saved whole seasons of the show lmfao 🫡

We're already suggesting that Rose and the Doctor will be saying goodbye at Badwolf Sea in song lyrics! Ahhhhhh Russellㅡ!!😖😭😭😭
@geniusABBY yeah, but david is getting married to georgia moffet the daughter of peter davidson who played jenny in "the doctor's daughter" she's his daughter in more than one way which is just creepy and weird
@Bottery I agree with you, that was really unnecessarily rude. Really pisses with the idea of the TH-cam community. Bottery didn't post "This is shit" or anything pointlessly unnecessary. It was barely even criticism. 'And I should care why?'.. bloody hell...
I've made a new version of this recently, it uses the original song from the official soundtrack. It's similar in a few sections, but I made it before seeing this 😂
The original song from the special is not on the official soundtrack, it's another version. I made this shortly after the christmas concert in 2006. I think the official soundtrack was released a month later. I have made it in a pair with "Love Don't Roam" which I focused on Nine and Rose.

This is now my fav. DW video!!!
Well I woke up today
And the world was a restless place
It could have been that way for me
And I wandered around
And I thought of your face
That Christmas looking back at me
I wish today was just like every other day
'Cause today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
And I started to walk
Pretty soon I will run
And I'll come running back to you
'Cause I followed my star
And that's what you are
I've had a merry time with you
I wish today was just like every other day
'Cause today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
So have a good life
Do it for me
Make me so proud
Like you want me to be
Where ever you are
I'm thinking of you oceans apart
I want you to know
Well I woke up today
and you're on the other side
Our time will never come again
But if you can still dream
Close your eyes it will seem
That you can see me now and then
I wish today was just like every other day
'Cause today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
I wish today was just like every other day
'Cause today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
