I did my clean out on a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo 1.6L with Automatic trans.
Removed the upper oxygen sensor, first.
Removed Cat. from car.
Sealed the output to exhaust system by making a 3 bolt flat plate with a flat 3 bolt gasket.
Then sealed oxygen sensor port. (Plug)
Stood the Cat. Up vertically and filled it with Muriatic acid ($18 for 4 litres)
I let sit for 3 days.
Then flushed with water and Dawn liquid soap. Worked perfect no Code PO420 code.
The Acid removed the crud in the honeycomb.
200,000 km on car at time of cleaning.

Why go through the trouble of drying the cat w/ a shopvac when you can just install it and let the exhaust heat do the work? Please explain.

How many miles do you have on your Prious when you clean it and did it lit the CEL? Did it come back yet?

Hi buddy, i had over 200,000 miles on it when i cleaned it. The CEL did not come back. My engine was burning oil. After i washed it i had the engine replaced, but i got ripped off. The guy who worked on my car only pretended to change my engine. So, long story short...it continued to burn oil so i sold the car. Take care and good luck.
