I like the use of the pads. I'm guessing you give a lot of thought to how much to keep the sound "guitar only". My thoughts (for what its worth) is that they make a big difference, don't detract from the guitar and will not even be noticed by 99.9% of listeners anyway. Keep using them I say :)
