Day 57 of asking for you to listen to the full version of the Tokyo ghoul opening. Trust op 1 and 4 will change your life I'm also gonna add the noragami op 1+2 aswell as they are also amazing
vinland is actually real, like leif eriksson, he actually "discovered" it before columbus. This anime has a lot more history accurate things than you imagine
Yeah when I watched it there were moments where events happened with date. I googled it and some of them were actually in this time period. Also famous names were real
This series is actually "historical fiction" which tends to have a lot of elements based on real recorded history, but can move into it's own story seperate from said history without changing the historical events and is told from the point of view of a character that didnt necessarily exist. However, Throfinn is actually based off of Thorfinn Karlsefni from an old Scandinavian tale "The Saga of the Greenlanders", so the character, while fictional, is also somewhat based in history. And yes, Vinland was the original name of the Americas given to it by it's original Scandinavian discoverers, being Leif Erikson and his crew
Many of the characters in this anime are based on real historical characters, as well as the places and maps. -The "New Continent" is North America. (Terranova Island, Canada) - Leif is based in Leif Erickson, the viking explorer -Vinland is the name that the Vikings gave to the American continent.
@@Rin_isobu Vinland is their depiction of "Paradise". A land of freedom and peace and wonderful stuff. It is a real place (North America), but they have yet to go. Not to mention another important theme in this series is religion, and differences between Heaven and Valhalla, for example.
@@nicolasfranco6490 Very simplistic rendition tbh, there are multiple different afterlives in Germanic mythos, mirroring something like heaven. Some of the characters in the show are Christian as well, Leif being one of them.
@@Rin_isobu Another thing I forgot: Thorfin is also based on a real person. Basically if you read British and Scandinavian history of the 10th century, you will read spoilers for the entire series.
Vinland was indeed real. There's stories and even evidence in Northern Canada that it did exist, and you're correct Nick the show takes place around real historical events, so most of the characters like Leif did exist during this time period
I am so Happy!!! The vinland saga is one of the masterpieces, but due to the source of supply, it doesn't seem to be as widely known as the quality of the work deserves. Thanks for picking this piece up! I'm excited that you'll be watching this show! With the change from WIT Studios to MAPPA, as well as AOT, and season 2 airing early next year, now is a good time to tune in and watch this show!Glad to have you watching this show!
I just finished watching the first season and just finished reading the Second Arc. It's a masterpiece, can't wait for the anime adaptation next year!!!
Man you're in for a ride. The shots in this show are INSANE and so beautiful. I'm not even talking about the music, because I can't describe it. This show is just amazing. I'm so happy you're reacting to this!
After watching top tier animes like AOT, DMCB, OPM, and HxH, i started to get bored of a lot of other animes that were coming out, but Vinland Sauga was amazing and reignited my interest. I also love how historically based some of the elements in this this anime are.
I’m japanese! I liked this anime at a glance! Beautiful animations, music, human dramas, and the cruelty of the real world. And above all, a very important lesson for us. Country, ethnicity, faith, etc. Also, I can learn about the history and people of real-life Northern Europe, the history and culture of the Vikings.
btw nick, the scream part on the intro was shortened compared to the full version, they also took a part from the end of the song to put it in the begining, the intro is like a preview of the full version
The Studio that did the first 3 seasons of Attack on Titan wanted to put all their time and effort on this instead of Season 4. That’s how legendary this Saga is.
The funniest thing to me is that I started this show the day you posted this video! But it’s a historical fiction anime based on the Vikings and Vinland is actually the America’s (which the Vikings/Lief Erickson actually discovered before Christopher Columbus)
You'll find that many characters, locations and events in this anime were actually real with some creative license taken. Leif Erikson actually discovered North America for example and apparently interacted with indigenous people. Thorfinn was a real Viking too with an interesting historical end to his story.
While the intro/opening was arguably the best of its year, *the outro/ending was, too, the best of its year, and I fully recommend you hearing it full.* It is performed by *Aimer,* one of the most unique female voices Japan has to offer, this woman is just *special* and her songs are always either beautiful, misterious, or straight up badass.
As a Norwegian-American myself I am more that happy to tell you that Leif eirikson really is a real person that moved from Norway to Iceland and then proceeded to discover “Vinland” aka America (loooong before Columbus ever did). So that whole episode was really interesting to me as the author took real life historical events and people and wove a fictional story into them
I interpreted the opening scene like a farmer preparing to cut down his crop. Thors stands on the battlefield preparing to take in the wheatheads for harvest before the long winter. Enemy soldiers are naught but a crop for him to cut down.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Thorfinn is one of the best written seinen manga protagonists of all time. We may not start to see that later until Season 2, but we damn sure will see it eventually. Not to mention the other incredible characters. This series is top notch. ("seinen" refers to more mature manga, "shonen" is geared more towards youth, and those are all the shows you've already been watching.)
as someone who hasn't read the manga, it is so extremely hard to believe that Thorfinn is the best character in the series when askeladd exists. but every manga reader says it, so idk who to trust. my brain, or everyone else.
@@randompolygon8401 I read the whole manga and Askeladd is still my favorite. Thorfinn grew a lot as a character in later parts, but not everybody liked it.
I've only watched S1 and not read the manga, but I'm looking forward to Thorfinns development because unlike most people, I really enjoyed watching him on screen. I can tell he has a lot of potential.
The battle in the beginning is inspired by the Battle of Hjörungavágr. Between the Norwegian earls of Lade and a Danish invasion fleet led by the famous Jomsvikings. It was a part of Hákon Sigurðarson's (For some: Hákon Jarl Hinn Ríki, Hakon the Powerful or his opponents aka Hákon Illi, Hakon the Bad). He ruled Norway as a liege king under the Danish king Haraldr Blátǫnn Gormsson(Harald Bluetooth, yes the king who given name to the technology). He was a well traveled man and even went to Novogorod to help Volodiměrъ Svętoslavičь (Volodymyr I Sviatoslavych, Vladimir the Great) who was his relative from the Rurikid dynasty to become the ruler of the Kievan Rus in Novogord and Kyiv. Quite a start for the series.
This anime had everything you loved about attack on Titan. Character drama, political intrigue, philosophical introspection, and that's on top of banger action scènes.
Vinland Saga became my number one anime of all time just after season one, while season two is even better, and the manga even better still. I adore this story, so happy you've already reacted to it!
About 7:39 people in those times(medieval) used to sleep together actually, whole families slept in single huge beds, one of the reason was for winter that way they keep themselves warm
I am so excited for you to watch this! You're gonna love this show! I remember when I watched it for the first time I barely slept cause I had to watch at least one more episode after another. It's so good I couldn't stop watching. I grew up in an area settled by Icelandic people so this viking shit is just my jam bro. Makes me feel like I'm home
Vinland Saga's anime production company is called WIT STUDIO, the same company that created the first three seasons of Attack on Titan! The beautiful artwork is a must-see!
Viking see war as a normal thing, they see death as destination, they believe if they die in the war their soul will go to valhalla and become valkyrie to fight alongside with odin.
The reason I love this channel so much is because even though I've seen these anime over a dozen times right now, this dude Nicholas's reaction somehow makes me feel the experience of watching them even more powerful than the first time...somehow? Like, how is that even possible? Love the energy and genuine take on it, man. Never stop, please.

This anime has a lot of real people and real people events in it. Some of the main characters are fictional, but the time period, the kings, queens, generals, and wars are all real. Our main character is also based off a real Icelandic explorer named Thorfinn Karlsefni. This story probably isn’t accurate to his actual life, but I think it’s cool that this connection exists.
I remember I was checking him on wiki and based on some comments I also noticed, it seems like his story is partially the same here in the anime. Which is crazy, these people long time ago really had some extraordinary lives...
The animation what WIT brought up in this show is really amazing. They have invested a lot, both time and money for this particular show. But the next season, which will be taken over by MAPPA Studio is going to be even phenomenal. Can't wait for it.
Vinland was actually a Viking colony in North America, it's the name the settlers gave to that place. Of course they couldn't survive there for a long time, and the new continent was forgot about for more than 4 century.
Thorfinn is actually a real historical figure. He actually had a statue somewhere in Canada but I can’t remember where. Although pretty much all of Thorfinn’s actions in the story is artistic license

This show is absolutely based on real history, Vinland is a what the norse explorers called a territory in western canada (new foundland and quebec). The Norse discovered the americas way before columbus in 1000 AD (columbus discovered it in 1492 AD). Leif Erikson was the son of Erik the red from greenland he was the one who landed on north america. Even the battle shown at the start, Hjörungavágr, is a semi-legendary naval battle along the coast of norway look it up on wikipedia. So basically it's all real and historical except it has some anime twists to guide the story.
Vinland saga, vagabond and berserk are the holy trinity of peak mangas and you can’t say otherwise. Glad you started this series it’s really good, sadly the other ones don’t have a worthy animation yet.
Hey bro, do you want an anime with God-tier soundtrack?! You should watch the Anime Movie titled "Your Name" if you want an anime with God-tier OST, story, visuals, animation, voice-acting etc. Your Name is one of the highest rated anime movies of all-time, and one of the best movies in general. I think that watching Your Name as your first anime movie will change your whole view of anime movies. Every precious second of this anime is beautiful and I promise you won't regret watching it. Soundtrack is perfect, story is perfect, animation is perfect, etc. If I was given a chance to erase a part of my memory, I would erase my memory of watching Your Name so that I can experience watching it for the first time (again).
The MC, thorfinn is an actual person. Not to much is known about him though if i remember correctly and his story contains spoilers for the show and manga. Such as his future title/slash nickname and eventual wife as well as his fate.
I thought I'd recommend you two really crazy anime as you have finished Aot...I'm sure you will like them. The first is called "One Punch Man" 👊🏻 and is one of the best anime by level of animation. For now, it only has two seasons for a total of 24 episodes so it wouldn't take long to finish it. The second is called "Jojo's Bizarre Adventures" 🔥 and from what I've seen it fits your taste perfectly. This is a fairly long anime but I'm sure you'll love it if you want some crazy twists and epic fights. ✌🏻 P.S. I'd love to see your reaction to these anime because they are crazy and I just love your reactions, they're so unique. Also a lot of people are asking for these 2 anime so, give them a try!
I'm glad you're watching Vinland Saga. This show will accelerate from the 4th episode, so please keep that in mind. Personally, I think it's the best masterpiece along with Attack on Titan. Enjoy the show!
The first half of the show is just the beginning. It will be sometimes a bit annoying (at least for me) but the character build up then the second half is just on point. One of the best anime i ever saw.
this is in my opinion the only show i've gave a 10 other than aot. i give AOT a 10 for many reasons, but Vinland deserves a 10 because of how simply masterfully created it is
Man wat about Arcane and Death note. And if U want more from aot U can react to these songs: 1-Eyes on me by rustage (crazy bars) 2-Rumbling by DPS (crazy vibe)

You did great job Nick 👍 this anime is fucking masterpiece Literally goated anime iam gonna watch every vinland saga reaction of your
Perfect timing I just finished the show 2 days ago and goddamn this show is underrated even for how hyped it is
Hey bro, do you want an anime with God-tier soundtrack?!
AGREED
Yeah that movie made me emotional! I feel like every anime fan should watch that movie, it's a solid masterpiece 💯
This show is so fucking good I can’t even explain and I’m so glad you’re watching this now
Vinland Saga is like AOT...You're gonna keep asking yourself when the series actually even starts
Wit Studio also animated seasons 1-3 of Attack On Titan. While Studio Mappa (AOT season 4) are currently animating season 2 of Vinland saga.
Mans is reacting to everything but arcane a 9 episode show
Thank you this reaction💙💙💙💙 i"ve been waiting!!
I love this show. I've watched it at least 10 times.
P.S. I'd love to see your reaction to these anime because they are crazy and I just love your reactions, they're so unique. Also a lot of people are asking for these 2 anime so, give them a try!
He finishing any show anytime soon
The mangaka of this anime is sooo sweet he answers everyone on twitter & the best thing he knows english👍🏻👍🏻😍😍
I'm glad you're watching Vinland Saga. This show will accelerate from the 4th episode, so please keep that in mind.
Personally, I think it's the best masterpiece along with Attack on Titan. Enjoy the show!
AOT + VS = 🐐
I would like to thank WIT studio for animating aot, spy family and vinland saga.
Here it fucking is, I've been waiting too long for this. Welcome to the world of Vinland saga.
The first half of the show is just the beginning. It will be sometimes a bit annoying (at least for me) but the character build up then the second half is just on point. One of the best anime i ever saw.
One of the best OST’s I’ve ever gotten to experience, love how you appreciate that aspect of anime. Had been hoping you’d react to this, enjoy it!
this is in my opinion the only show i've gave a 10 other than aot. i give AOT a 10 for many reasons, but Vinland deserves a 10 because of how simply masterfully created it is
What about death note
There’s a lot more
u haven’t watch many i think
This is a beginning of an amazing journey
Man wat about Arcane and Death note.
And if U want more from aot U can react to these songs:
1-Eyes on me by rustage (crazy bars)
2-Rumbling by DPS (crazy vibe)
My man picking masterpiece one after another. U leave me no choice i need that notif bell

You gotta listen to that outro Nick, it’s by Aimer! It’s absolutely a top tier ending
Hey are you going to continue arcane ?
i like the way you try to guess what will happen next which is hilarious ( " his son will follow his foot step") , i not trying any spoilers but keep doing it , makes a good laugh
nick...we've been starved enough..drop the next episode of arcane😔
Vinland saga is absolute peak anime. The story, the action the historical attention to detail. God it’s so good
What’s happening with Arcane ?
Thorfinn is in fact based on a real person named Thorfinn Karlsfeni, another explorer who followed Leif's route to start a settlement in Vinland.
Where is Arcane ep 3?
Thorfinn himself did live too he was an adventurer who traveled to the America's as well
