it was around 2 pm, but as far as I know, the time of the day doesn't really matter in terms of the chances for encounter the whales, the time of the year is more important

There are boat trips leaving from Dalvik or Husavik towns organized by multiple companies. We went with "Arctic Sea Tours Whale Watching" and we recommend it :)
