Another stunning film, we just added Steart Marsh to our visit list for this year. Thanks for posting.

A great day. I was going to say a rare sight for the avocets then realised that was 40 years ago. How time flies. 👍

Thanks Stephen, yes with wetland reclamation schemes they’re certainly making a come back!

Peaceful. 👍 Seems like we have so many European birds counterparts here in America.

Thanks for your kind comment Thomas, I know the American Avocet is very similar and I'm guessing you have Spoonbills too.

Lovely, as usual. Interesting to see those English Longhorn cattle modelled from natural materials. I remember when the concrete cows appeared in the fields around Milton Keynes! Don’t recognise that breed of deer at the end though, with its long vertical horns rather than antlers. Looks more like something I’d expect to see on the plains of Africa. I might be moving to Somerset soon, as it happens. I’ll definitely make my way over to this place if I do.

Thank you Nicola, I’m sure you’ll be in heaven if you move to Somerset. There’s this reserve and Ham Wall, Catcott Lows, Shapwick Heath, the Cheddar Gorge AONB and many other interesting places to visit. Continental frogs are present in the Avalon Marshes and these seem to attract the Great White Egret. I believe the deer is a Roe but I might be mistaken!

@@johnluk Thanks for all the info, John! Much appreciated. 👍 I’ve been looking up those reserves you mentioned and some of them aren’t far from where I might be going. It’s for a job where I would be living onsite , and I haven’t even had the interview yet, so I might be counting my proverbial chickens. The original interview date had to be cancelled due to my back injury, but they are holding the post open until they have seen me, so I am optimistic! 🤞

My compliments. This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing, for me, these rare birds. Avocet, beautiful bird. Wish we had more of it here too. 7:09
    Wish you a happy weekend.

Thank you very much Knut. Avocet were very rare here too not so long ago because of drainage of marshes to create farmland. Steart and Goldcliff are examples of intervention to create suitable habitat and their numbers are on the rise. Hope you have a great weekend too. Best regards, John.
