Great review! Awesome pen. I love how you dealt with technical problems. The voice over while writing about the problem was genius. All the information flowed as nicely as the ink in that pen! You have a strong pen game! Do you have a collecting strategy or type or phase? I don’t know if that makes sense. For example, my pens are all over the place from Jinhao to Optima (though I did not buy that one) and everything in between. I’m currently on an independent maker phase which some people don’t like because of the price (the nature of a small maker and a hand turned pen makes it more expensive than a manufactured pen of the same specs). I almost had my first Pelikan and that would have been my most expensive purchase to date. I’m definitely not at the Optima or Visconti HS buying level. There is just something about that price for one pen that has made me pause whenever I consider it. Maybe someday (the Sandstorm is a great looking pen). Thoughts? Sorry for the long comment. 🧡
thank you very much!! That's a good question. I guess my only strategy for what I buy/own is that I buy what speaks to me, prioritize buying fewer very nice pens versus lots of average ones, and sell what I'm not using. So it kinda leads to me having a handful of very expensive pens that are good daily writers, haha!
Thank you for this great review! Your handwriting is so practical and looks gorgeous !!! I am looking a pelikan vintage flex and want to ask you, is this nib really a medium nib? I have a modern pelikan m800 with a Fine nib, it writes pretty much similar with this "medium". Can it be said that the pelikan vintage nibs are thinner than modern ones in the same size of point? Thanks in advance 😊
I believe it was around there? 235 I think. Not too bad for this color, and the fact that it was from a brick and mortar store where I could try it before purchase made it more worth the little upcharge in that respect :)
good question! I am kinda sad that it seems they're basically using the 51 name as a marketing tactic when it's really a jotter fp in a different body. I am okay that it's a convertor filler, but hate that one isn't included, and I dislike the more protruding nib and the screw on cap. I'm sure it's a good pen on its own merits but compared to the original 51 it just isn't the same, you know?
Hallo, ich habe vor, meine kleine Sammlung an Pelikan Füllfedern (7 Stück) auflösen und suche jemanden, der Interesse hat und bei dem sie in guten Händen sind.
The 400NN is one of my favorite vintage pens! Congratulations on discovering what a great writer it is!
thank you, yeah I was glad to finally pick one up!! :D
Thanks, Aidan. I agree, the 400nn is rightly a classic Pelikan, and a classic fountain pen as well. Those older Pelikan nibs are wonderful.
love the Alonso shirt! McLaren shirt in alpine colours whaatttt xD gorgeous pen too
thank you!! yeah, it was his 'first retirement' t-shirt, haha. Great to see him this weekend in the alpine, can't wait for the season to start!!
Your review sold me on this pen. Can’t wait to use it!
Amazing review and love the new angle!
thanks!!! it was so bright out, so I figured I'd take advantage haha

Thanks so much for this review. I obtained one a few months ago thanks to your video. Still too anxious ink it 😅

the vintage ones are a bit thinner but yeah a fine is good for flex writing, it makes the variation stand out nicely!
very very nice,
Dang now I want a Sailor in some beautiful pastel color(s).
If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost, i found that on ebay they were in the 200usd range

Whats your thoughts on the new parker 51. I have a original and I personally wouldn't buy one.
