Loved that pic of you guys in Porto at the bridge! Just got back from two weeks in Porto and the north and had the best time - way better than expected, especially for Mid to end of November. Way warmer than Canada, as you said, and the people and food to die for. Thank you for all your Portugal support and wish you best for your Winter sojourn
Have just returned from a month stay in Lagos and also booked the night before leaving at the hotel 3K . Our flight was 6AM and it was an easy 10 minute walk to the airport . Great hotel . Enjoy your stay !

@@ThisIsOurRetirement we rent a car once in awhile (Nicetrip in Albufeira have been good for rentals), use the train sometimes and actually bought folding bikes at Decathlon last year. Keep them stored in Algarve) Love all the new boardwalks all over the coast for exploration on bikes.

The 3K hotel I can recommend it's adequate for a 1 night stay. When I was there Oct ' 22 I couldn't work out how the shower worked so I asked the receptionist 2 help me figure it out & she obliged. I have a "kit" I take with me on road trips to visit family or across the pond. It's 2 mesh bag I made out of sheer curtain fabric from the dollar store. Very small mesh,(like a laundry delicates bag) and it's got a miniature silicon spatula, egg flipper, &tongs in it(cute colours from Walmart kitchen aisle). And a 2nd bag for laundry. I use one mesh bag to cover fruit at the destination kitchen and to use as a salad spinner (haven't ever found one in an Airbnb or hotel) ... Comes in handy to shake out your just washed lettuce. The other bag for laundry. The kit also contains 2 sharpened knife with blade covers. A pairing knife and a small butcher. It's aggravating to get stuck using dull knives. But next trip in March/24 we're doing carry-on only so the knives stay home as do the wine corker and seam ripper☹️. My sister had both taken away in amsterdam to her great unforseen dismay from her carry-on. She's had both for years and many many overseas trips. She was very pissed. We both toke walking sticks that sure came in handy hiking up and down those crazy stairs everywhere in the algarve and all those cliff trails. The 2nd bag has a zipper for laundry use. This kit comes in real handy even in picnic areas on road trips in🇨🇦
Thank you for the hotel ideas. We also are on our second stay in PT for several months starting in Tavira for a month and have a nice 1 bedroom on the south side of the river on a nice side street. Lovely area. We arrived yesterday and look forward to a relaxing time exploring on foot.
I’m not using Airbnb anymore, we had a bunch of stuff stolen, due to poor key control. The owner could care less. We did a deep dive on other sites and found out the same issue happen at the same unit a couple of months earlier. Never again.
We will be staying in Lagos, Tavira, then Seville in early May. Our first time in Europe from Canada and certainly looking forward to the trip. Thanks to your video we changed our hotel booking at the Faro airport to save a few dollars and to be near the grocery store - great idea!! We don't drink tea so won't have to worry about the kettle thing - thank goodness. Take care.
We have been following you for years and have decided to follow in your footsteps this winter for 2-3 weeks. Leaving from Toronto we are staying at the Luna Sol Aqua. Rented a car. Thank you for putting the video out on Friday as opposed to Saturdays. My Saturdays are normally tied up with smoking, drinking and running around with loose women, a definite conflict when trying to watch your video. Please take care of each other and stay safe.
Nice video...thanks...we were in Portugal in September... we visited Porto, Coimbra, and Lisbon (Air BnB's)... Next time we will head to the south of Portugal....I do not take a flipper or kettle when we travel, but good idea...but, yes to everything else...we personally use ExpressVPN...I would also add the Uber works great in Portugal (put the app on your phone)...we saved a pile of money on taxi's...we also took their train system...we also used Airalo esim's for our phones...worked great...we really enjoyed our time...I hope that you have a great time...☺
The hotel list is very helpful, thanks! I went on a hiking trip in the Azores and the hotel apartments were awesome there too! I want to go back, the Azores is very close to Canada!
I would also suggest a bottle opener for beer. Many bottles in Europe are not twist offs, like in Canada. Twice I have been in Europe and needed to buy an opener. Now I travel with one I bought in Albania. Also once you get there you might need a wine opener.
I bought the lamp for when I move to Pt. I plan to get a fire stick and get NordVPN when it gets time for me to move. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and tips. ❤😊
This was a wonderful video and so informative so thank you so much ! I was struggling to know where to begin searching for accommodations and this has been incredibly helpful! Thank you from Thunder Bay!
Hello Tina & Norm, Thanks for the very informative video. We have been staying in fully furnished apartments in Praia da Luz with full kitchen., did not need to bring an egg flipper with us. Also, water kettle was there (I am a tea drinker) and PG Tips (my favorite) and other English tea brands are available in Algarve, but listening to your story with 'underwear', we will buy our own kettle in Portugal from now on. We will also try one of these hotel chains for our next visit. Unfortunately, we don't have a direct flight to Faro from the US. So, we have to fly in to Lisbon and usually stay a day in a hotel both - on arrivals and departures. Can't wait to be there again.
Love your video... We're heading off to Lagos for six weeks this winter. We usually stay in a 2 Bed 2 Bath at Lagos Marina apartments, very central and Pingo Doce right there...Prices sure have gone up. We paid over 2300 Euro per month...Did check out ApartHotels but very few of them had an oven, and we cook a lot when there. Of interest, Air Transat has a potential strike date of Jan 4 - hope this does not affect you. Have always felt Air Transat very reliable...but you never know!..Carry on is the answer..have never tried it, but have already paid for one bag...waiting for the carousels now seems to take longer and longer...Do you need VPN for the fire stick?....husband likes to watch British soccer, rugby etc. Portugal is a magical place and the people are just the kindest! Love the hotel idea... very tempting, but our return flight from Faro to Toronto is later in the day, so not too early a start... Enjoy your trip..Anne from Kincardine
Glad you enjoyed the video Anne , yes prices have gone up but we got really good deals agree there is no oven as we do a lot of cooking we just work around that . Thanks for sharing about the strike we didn’t know about it we hope it doesn’t happen , yes you would need a VPN to work the Firestick .We hope you enjoy your trip we just can’t wait to get back there .Cheers 🇵🇹✈️🇨🇦🙂🍷
Thanks for another informative video. Always enjoy. We just came back from Lagos for the second time this year and one thing that I would suggest maybe bringing is some of the spices that you enjoy using for cooking your favourite meals. My husband suggestion is golf tees and golf balls. If you are hoping to take in a bit of golf, it saves you from buying.
We've been to Northern Portugal few times, never to Algarve. Trying Albufeira in February for two weeks. Thank you for the ideas on where to stay, etc. We will be staying at Airbnb, - it always worked fine for us in Europe. Hope this time won't be an exception.
@@fredkarenclark4551We don't like crowds :) But I was under the impression, that Albufeira is very quiet during the winter months, and especially if you stay outside the old town?
Great ideas. What is the monthly cost renting an apartment in a hotel for a retired couple? Is there a hospital nearby? What is the name of the transit you use to take you to hotel to airport?
Thank you for providing some hotel chain names. It's very much appreciated. What towns would you recommend as best for someone who will not rent a car? Perhaps you could do a video on that in the future.
Thanks for the tips ! We will be staying in P. for 11 days in Feb., them Spain for 14. I admire you for only bringing carryons, would love to know how to do that. Most times we travel I feel like a pack mule lugging our big suitcases. Did you ever make a video about packing lightly ?
We did decide that the biggest plus is you don’t loose your luggage as it stays with you , you just have to be ruthless in what you take , we always used to take too much !! now it works well we do laundry in the local laundromat as we go not in a kettle LOL 😂😂Cheers David 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦
What about voltage differences if you are bringing travel kettles? I bought my flipper “fish slice” in Continente too as my apartment in Albuferia didn’t have one either.
Hello Norm and Tina, how are you? Trust that all is good and well. We finally will make a trip to the Algarve this weekend and spend Christmas there. Not sure if it will be super quiet close to Christmas and whether we can still enjoy the famous grilled sardines.
You should be able to get the sardine dinner / lunch, having said that the season for sardines is June to October. Merry Christmas have a great time, no snowball fights 😂😂
@@ThisIsOurRetirement We just got back from the Algarve. Thank you for your recommendations, we enjoyed Albufeira, Sagres, Lagos, Silves, Carvoiero, Faro, and Tavira. They are quite beautiful and weather was great during our stay for a week during Christmas. We agree, the only drawback was those non-operating restaurants during the off-season (they were listed as open in Google). We did stumble upon Albufeira "downtown" by accident, and I agree with you that Albufeira is a party central during summer tourist season. So many bars, restaurants, and clubs in close proximity.
We have booked 3 weeks with my family in Alfagar village. Staying around Christmas and New Year there. So looking forward to maybe see you at the reception or beach one day;)
Believe it or not, when we went to UK Cambridge for my son's wedding, the place we stayed had peanut butter, jelly, tea, etc but no TEAPOT. I purchased a small one at the local store, and left it behind.
Hi Tina & norm, we are off to Albufeira for the month between Jan & Feb, checking out the algarve, stopping near escalator in Albufeira, might see you there. Get you a pint and Tina a wine if we spot you there. Great informative information from a fellow Brit living in Port perry, Ontario
Thanks for the pointers! We leave for the Algarve Dec.26. I purchased a nordvpn subscription but I am not techy and stumped how to add all my devices to it. Maybe you could do a video demonstrating and Tina follow your instructions adding a device?!
That is awesome! Dianne there are lots of TH-cam videos on Nord VPN we are still learning too have a wonderful trip and enjoy the weather Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍷
When I travel to Europe, I rarely use any technology and love the freedom. NordVPN sounds like a great 👍 idea 💡. Thanks for sharing. I like interacting with people and not looking down at my phone. 🎉 When in Rome I stay at the Hilton by the airport for a quick escape.
Nice ideas. And I thought I was the only one that generally traveled with an egg flipper. Also from now after hearing your hotel kettle story I definitely will also be travelling with my travel kettle😂😂😂
Thank you for the interesting video. You have mentioned before that when you travel you travel with carry-ons only. Am wondering what it is you pack to keep your luggage at such a low rate.
The secret is to make sure all the colours go together jeans , capris , shorts T shirts , a long skirt and dress that folds very thinly , thin sweaters to layer and both light and heavy jacket ( Return to Canada 🇨🇦) that rolls into a pillow . Buy creams shampoo etc when there ( or hotel provides them and you are good to go Cheers 🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦🍷
Always so inspired by you two. The Algarve is a great place. We like the two British grocery stores and the new mall area. Hope to get back there this summer.
Hi Tina and Norm. I hope you have a wonderful time in Portugal. An interesting video would be if you have noticed any changes in the area since your last visit as it has been several years. Thanks! 🇺🇸🇨🇦✈️
Yes there is one fitted, but we avoid toll roads as the N125 is a pretty good road off season. The rental company has your credit card and pays the tolls for us.
Great video, guys. Lots of great information. I'm a bit envious of your trip to Portugal, but I'm super happy for you too!!! Boiling underwear in a hotel room kettle!!!! I'll never use one again. Ever! I was wondering if you would bring the air fryer. Probably not allowed and a bit bulky if you're only bringing carry-on! 😂😂😂😂 All your suggestions, from the travel kettle to the egg flipper are excellent. (Especially the hotel in the airport.)Take care of yourselves. You're both looking great too. 👊👏🙏😊😊
Always get value out of your videos, especially your British humour. Good travel tips. Always laugh or smile when I hear you say "Hope everybody is keeping well". That sounds so odd to us Americans. When I moved to Ireland in 1985, one woman in the church, Mrs. Row would always ask me how I was keeping. It made me laugh. After several weeks of this conversation repeated, Mrs. Roe wanted to know why I always laughed. I explained to her that we Americans use the phrase "How something is keeping" when we discuss how food is aging in the refrigerator. Her question made me think I was a side of beef or leftover dessert. Carry on!
Thanks for your story we started to say that during Covid when everywhere was shut and no one was travelling we wanted to wish all our viewers to “stay safe and well “ Cheers 🇺🇸🍷🇵🇹🇨🇦🍻
What on earth is going on in someone’s underwear that they’d have to boil it in a hotel room kettle? Just when you think you’ve heard it all - Norm and Tina blow us out of the water with a travel revelation extraordinaire!! Love the video and especially the fire stick idea - may have to invest in one for our trip back to Madeira, Portugal. Thanks and have a great weekend!
Thankyou so much on the info for Portugal. Much appreciated. We plan to be there winter of 2025 all going well. Is this time the change from Sat video or am I jumping the gun (bad habit 😂) So excited about both our winter get aways ❤
We are trying posting on a Friday Fay to see how it works ( thinking it gives our viewers more time Friday , Sat and Sun to watch ) so this is Saturdays video up early LOL 😂 We are just as excited for our trip as we are sure you and Danny are have a great weekend Cheers 🇨🇦🇵🇹☕️🇺🇸
Dear Tina and Norm. I trust you both are well and looking forward to Portugal in the new year. Thousands of US citizens are “rushing” to Portugal taking up permanent residency and long term vacations namely in the Algarve. With the influx of many Americans, I feel the Portuguese culture will be in jeopardy in my beloved Algarve. I have noticed this on my latest visit, October 2023, the human landscape and environment has changed substantially.
It might even out and revert back as some Americans are preparing to leave Portugal due to recently proposed tax law changes. The Algarve has always been since the sixties a vacation area, it doesn’t truly represent the Portuguese culture, just in the same way Lisbon has become a mature capital city with many nationalities living there. The same has happen to many cities and countries including England and London. Wishing you well 🇵🇹
In Albufeira, there's an American Diner which serves Philly Cheese steak sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers, all junk food. The place is flooded with Americans. There's hundreds of American Restaurants now in Portugal, most notably in Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve. Not to mention McDonald's and Burger King.
Surprised to see you posted yesterday. We look forward to having our steaming tea with Saturday mornings. Is this a regular change? * Great tips. 1st I heard about the Kettle story. Looking in to Norvpn. ~ Ben Merry Christmas 🎅
It’s an experiment Ben to see if Friday works better for our viewers , we nearly died at the kettle story ! we hope you are having a wonderful weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦☕️🍻

Thanks Paul we are looking forward to Portugal 🇵🇹 being somewhere warmer will be great Merry Christmas to you both too and have a wonderful 2024 Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍷
Thanks again for these travel tips especially hotel chains! Planning my first trip to Algarve and wondering what airline you recommend when flying out of YYZ to Faro?
Air Transat flies direct to Faro all others Air Canada and TAP fly to Lisbon with a 4 hour stop over. We have flown TAP and it was very good. We now use Air Transat more now they started flying in December, they only used to start in March.
Hi guys have been following your videos for years! We are taking the plunge from Canada to the Algarve for 2.5 months this winter. Could you recommend a car rental near Faro airport? Not sure if a rental car is a good idea but we are thinking about it.
Hi Norm & Tina, we're currently in Albufeira until 5th January 2024, when are you coming over? It would be nice to meet up if you were here at the same time as us. Cheers Derek & Julie
Hi Norm & Tina, we hope you enjoy your vacation over here as much as we are currently, so far we've managed to upload several video's since we've been here as the weather has been virtually wall to wall sunshine, have a lovely Christmas and new year, keep those video's coming, Cheers
Hello Tina and Norm!! Watching your videos since the beginning and truly admire the tips and your honest opinions!!! Being in my 50's and travelling on the horizon, and many many travel insurance companies available, is there one travel insurance company you would suggest, to look into??? Insurance for travelers... Many thanks
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thank you for replying !!! I wish you long health and travels and travels.!!! Life is meant to to be on the move!!! Like a bicycle....always keep pedaling or else we fall down!!
The first thing I did after watching is google the kettle thing. OMGoodness. How GROSS! Silly thing is, was it a general thing people did or was this a question and it became a thing. Whatever the process - it seems so weird. Do people then also boil their underwear at home? One is left wondering! 🙃!Love the light. `we also take our Böse speaker for listening to music. Lots of good ideas and I agree, the kitchen isn't always well stocked with essentials. I buy them locally and then leave them for the next guest. Enjoy the preparations. January wasn't it? Safe travels and enjoy your weekend. 🍷👍🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿
We do like the light, it's the small things that can make a difference. It is dreadful about the kettle is it true or not, but you can't un hear it 😂😂 In North America we generally take a lot more things with us in the car but flying has limitations. Thanks so much for finding us on Friday, have a lovely weekend.
The Brit raconteur Bob Mortimer tells a story about hotel kettles being used for going #1! His tales are far fetched but I wouldn’t put it past people.
hi Tina and Norm! we absolutely love all of your very informative videos. We are actually flying out of Toronto and going to be in Albufeira from Mid-March ro Mid -April. It will be our first time in Portugal(Albufeira). Your videos have been very useful to help guide us in the planning of our trip. Glad it was helpful! enjoy your weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🍷☕️🇨🇦
Too funny about the hotel kettles. Have a great trip guys! Maybe one of these years we’ll have a drink together in Portugal!- Mike from Ottawa
That would be nice Mike maybe our paths will cross Cheers 🇨🇦☕️🇵🇹🙂🍻
Nice video...thanks...we were in Portugal in September... we visited Porto, Coimbra, and Lisbon (Air BnB's)... Next time we will head to the south of Portugal....I do not take a flipper or kettle when we travel, but good idea...but, yes to everything else...we personally use ExpressVPN...I would also add the Uber works great in Portugal (put the app on your phone)...we saved a pile of money on taxi's...we also took their train system...we also used Airalo esim's for our phones...worked great...we really enjoyed our time...I hope that you have a great time...☺
Great points we do Uber now just joined this year and we plan to use the rails as well. 🇵🇹 Thanks for the esim tip, we will check it out.
It worked fabulous for us....safe travels to you both...@@ThisIsOurRetirement
Let me know if I can send you a link for Airalo...I get a $2 credit...woohooo...LOL
Wow, thanks for the tip about the kettle!
Any time! have a great weekend Jacquie 🇵🇹🍵🇨🇦
Love you guys!
Thank you so much have a great weekend Cheers 🇺🇸☕️🇨🇦🇵🇹
The hotel list is very helpful, thanks! I went on a hiking trip in the Azores and the hotel apartments were awesome there too! I want to go back, the Azores is very close to Canada!
Our pleasure! 🇵🇹🍵🇨🇦🙂
I would also suggest a bottle opener for beer. Many bottles in Europe are not twist offs, like in Canada. Twice I have been in Europe and needed to buy an opener. Now I travel with one I bought in Albania. Also once you get there you might need a wine opener.
Good tip Bryan thank you have a great weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🍻🇨🇦
I bought the lamp for when I move to Pt. I plan to get a fire stick and get NordVPN when it gets time for me to move. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and tips. ❤😊
I don't travel but I love your little light! I think I may buy one to use at home instead of some of my plug in night lights thank you for the idea❤
Wonderful, we do use the lamp at home too, Thanks Savannah for wading through our videos!
This was a wonderful video and so informative so thank you so much ! I was struggling to know where to begin searching for accommodations and this has been incredibly helpful! Thank you from Thunder Bay!
Our pleasure Heather, good luck with your planning. 🇨🇦🇵🇹
Hi Tina & Norm good to see you again and I hope you have a wonderful time in Portugal thanks for all the tips.
Regards. Christopher Barker 🥂😊
Thanks for watching Christopher we are looking forward to Portugal 🇵🇹 have a great weekend Cheers 🇬🇧🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦🍻
Thanks for watching have a great weekend Cheers 🇺🇸✈️🇨🇦🙂🇵🇹
Thank you very much for the tips
Our pleasure Helen have a great week Cheers 🙂☕️
Thanks for another informative video. Always enjoy. We just came back from Lagos for the second time this year and one thing that I would suggest maybe bringing is some of the spices that you enjoy using for cooking your favourite meals. My husband suggestion is golf tees and golf balls. If you are hoping to take in a bit of golf, it saves you from buying.
We always though of doing the spice thing but were worried about it being quizzed as something else. We bought spices locally and left them behind.
We've been to Northern Portugal few times, never to Algarve. Trying Albufeira in February for two weeks. Thank you for the ideas on where to stay, etc. We will be staying at Airbnb, - it always worked fine for us in Europe. Hope this time won't be an exception.
We hope you have a great visit to the south 🇵🇹
if you like to party, go to Albufiera...if you're not a partyer, go to Lagos
@@fredkarenclark4551We don't like crowds :) But I was under the impression, that Albufeira is very quiet during the winter months, and especially if you stay outside the old town?
Beatles were the BEST! Great tips guys!
We agree! great music 🎶 have a great weekend guys Cheers 🇺🇸🇨🇦☕️🇵🇹
As usual always a great video and very useful , thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy Friday 🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦
Enjoy your winter trip. Get lots of sun.
Thank you we will , looking forward to it Mary Cheers 🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦😎
Fabulous information 👌 👏 Enjoy your trip
Thanks Ann we are looking forward to it Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦✈️🍷
Best t- shirt so far
Thanks Liz 🎶Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦
Great ideas. What is the monthly cost renting an apartment in a hotel for a retired couple? Is there a hospital nearby? What is the name of the transit you use to take you to hotel to airport?
Around 1700 Euros 💶 a month for a one bedroom, there are hospitals along the Algarve Rosalind Cheers 🇨🇦☕️🇵🇹
Great video - loved the tips :)
Always great to hear from you Jen Cheers 🇨🇦🍷🇵🇹🙂☕️
Thank you for providing some hotel chain names. It's very much appreciated. What towns would you recommend as best for someone who will not rent a car? Perhaps you could do a video on that in the future.
Lagos is a popular choice, also Alvor a smaller town than Lagos, both have good public transport options.
I was completely obsessed with the Beatles when I was a teen. Well - their music, not them!
We love ❤️Beatles music 🎶 too 🙂
Great tips! Thanks 😃
Your welcome 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦
What about voltage differences if you are bringing travel kettles? I bought my flipper “fish slice” in Continente too as my apartment in Albuferia didn’t have one either.
We have a small unit that steps the voltage down
Hello Norm and Tina, how are you? Trust that all is good and well. We finally will make a trip to the Algarve this weekend and spend Christmas there. Not sure if it will be super quiet close to Christmas and whether we can still enjoy the famous grilled sardines.
You should be able to get the sardine dinner / lunch, having said that the season for sardines is June to October. Merry Christmas have a great time, no snowball fights 😂😂
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thank you Tina and Norm. Merry Christmas and have a Wonderful New Year in Portugal.
Thank you 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦
@@ThisIsOurRetirement We just got back from the Algarve.
So looking forward to maybe see you at the reception or beach one day;)
That’s great we hope you have a wonderful time Pablo Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍻🍷
Believe it or not, when we went to UK Cambridge for my son's wedding, the place we stayed had peanut butter, jelly, tea, etc but no TEAPOT. I purchased a small one at the local store, and left it behind.
Too funny.....tea...England!!
Sounds great! you never know Andy if our paths might cross we hope you have a wonderful time Cheers 🇨🇦🙂🇵🇹🍻🍷
Mike also carries a flipper when we travel. Sounds exciting!
We find it very useful especially for fried eggs 🍳 Cheers guys have a wonderful weekend 🇨🇦🍷☕️🇵🇹
Our pleasure! glad you enjoyed it staying close to the airport ✈️ is a great idea Johnny Cheers 🇵🇹✈️🇨🇦🍻
When you are there for the winter, it is great to be able to watch different sports channels etc...on TV.
Nice ideas. And I thought I was the only one that generally traveled with an egg flipper.
Also from now after hearing your hotel kettle story I definitely will also be travelling with my travel kettle😂😂😂
Have a great weekend Cheers 🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing!! we haven’t seen the new mall area so looking forward to seeing that Cheers 🇵🇹🇨🇦☕️🙂
Hi Tina and Norm. I hope you have a wonderful time in Portugal. An interesting video would be if you have noticed any changes in the area since your last visit as it has been several years. Thanks! 🇺🇸🇨🇦✈️
Thanks Cherry for the suggestion we are looking forward to being back there Cheers 🇺🇸☕️🇵🇹🇨🇦
Great idea!
We had the opposite in our hotel last week - lamps and no main light!
That’s too funny lots of lamps , we hope you had a great time we used to stay around the corner from your hotel 🇵🇹🍷🏴🙂
Here’s one tea drinker, I always take a frying pan I refuse to use the one that they provide at the hotels or airbnb they always scratched .
Best start to the day Cheers 🍵🇨🇦🇵🇹
May I ask why you are not considering Madeira as a wintering destination? It's warmer there than in the Algarve.
Thanks for the suggestion , we just like the Algarve maybe think the weather is very similar Cheers 🙂☕️
Good info guys!🍺🍷
Our pleasure! glad you enjoyed it Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍻
Last time I was in Faro, I found a band aid in my soup. Needless to say, I never ordered soup again. Gives a new meaning to "Band Aid Effect."
Oh wow thanks for sharing Jeff Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦
Oh no! I've never heard about alternative uses for kettles!😵💫
We hadn’t either Julie ! hope you have a great weekend Cheers 🇵🇹☕️🍷🙂🇺🇸🇨🇦
Do you use a Toll pass device with your rental car? Thank you
Yes there is one fitted, but we avoid toll roads as the N125 is a pretty good road off season. The rental company has your credit card and pays the tolls for us.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thanks
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
When are you actually travelling to Portugal? After the holiday season?
Yes in the New year🥳 Happy Friday 🇵🇹☕️🇨🇦
Great video, guys. Lots of great information. I'm a bit envious of your trip to Portugal, but I'm super happy for you too!!! Boiling underwear in a hotel room kettle!!!! I'll never use one again. Ever! I was wondering if you would bring the air fryer. Probably not allowed and a bit bulky if you're only bringing carry-on! 😂😂😂😂 All your suggestions, from the travel kettle to the egg flipper are excellent. (Especially the hotel in the airport.)Take care of yourselves. You're both looking great too. 👊👏🙏😊😊
Thanks so much , we are so glad you enjoyed it we are so looking forward to being back in the Algarve have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍵
It does make you wonder 🤔we love the Firestick have an awesome weekend Libbyann Cheers 🇵🇹🇨🇦🙂☕️🍷
Thankyou so much on the info for Portugal. Much appreciated. We plan to be there winter of 2025 all going well.
Is this time the change from Sat video or am I jumping the gun (bad habit 😂)
So excited about both our winter get aways ❤
~ Ben
Merry Christmas 🎅
It’s an experiment Ben to see if Friday works better for our viewers , we nearly died at the kettle story ! we hope you are having a wonderful weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦☕️🍻
Hi Norm and Tina! Have a fantastic trip to Portugal! Merry Christmas and a great 2024! Nothing booked here yet..but that could change at any time. Paul and Helen
@@ThisIsOurRetirement I'll take the direct flight any day sooooo much easier...Many thanks and Happy Holidays to you and yours ! ! !
We are renting a car in Feb. 2024 in Portugal. As we are trying to book it, they are asking for Fiscal identification. How do we get that?
We were never asked that just write 0 Happy New Year 🥳☕️
Air Transat avoids strike after reaching tentative deal with flight attendant union. Have a safe flight.
Thanks for letting us all know Lucy 🙂
Hi guys have been following your videos for years! We are taking the plunge from Canada to the Algarve for 2.5 months this winter. Could you recommend a car rental near Faro airport? Not sure if a rental car is a good idea but we are thinking about it.
Hello Richard, We don't have any recommendations for car hire, just look for an agency with good reviews.
Very helpful video. Might I ask if you have a rental car company you like in Portugal
Sorry, no
Hi Norm & Tina, we're currently in Albufeira until 5th January 2024, when are you coming over? It would be nice to meet up if you were here at the same time as us. Cheers Derek & Julie
Hello Derek and Julie, We will be arriving after you have left, we hope you are having a great trip!
Hi Norm & Tina, we hope you enjoy your vacation over here as much as we are currently, so far we've managed to upload several video's since we've been here as the weather has been virtually wall to wall sunshine, have a lovely Christmas and new year, keep those video's coming, Cheers
You guys look wonderful on vacation! ❤ Do you need a VISA to visit Portugal for 10 weeks?
No Jim we can go for 90 days from Canada 🇨🇦 Cheers 🇨🇦🍻🇵🇹
Which airline will you be travelling on. Did you get a direct flight to Faro? Thank you
There is only Air Transat that flys direct from Canada 🇨🇦 to Faro all the others you have to go via Lisbon Cheers ✈️🇵🇹🇨🇦
How long is the flight?Thanks!
About 7 hours Bonnie ✈️ 🙂
That Tina she a real treasure
Thank you 🙂☕️
Hello Tina and Norm!!
Watching your videos since the beginning and truly admire the tips and your honest opinions!!! Being in my 50's and travelling on the horizon, and many many travel insurance companies available, is there one travel insurance company you would suggest, to look into??? Insurance for travelers...
Many thanks
We bought our insurance a long time ago from our credit card company Bank of Montreal MasterCard, thanks for following us.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thank you for replying !!! I wish you long health and travels and travels.!!! Life is meant to to be on the move!!! Like a bicycle....always keep pedaling or else we fall down!!
What towns are you staying in this year I thought you mentioned 3 areas?
Nice T-shirt!
Thank you 🎶Cheers 🙂🇵🇹🇨🇦
I wonder if your Faro Airport Pingo Doce has a restaurant? We ate in our local one all week!
We are not sure , we did eat at the one in Albufeira too food was great 🙂
❤ 🙏
Thanks 🇵🇹🇨🇦🙂
Wow 😱that’s as bad as our Kettle story NO it’s worse ! have an awesome weekend Cheers 🇵🇹☕️🍻🇨🇦🇬🇧
Wow! Underwear in a kettle, never heard that one. As a big tea drinker i will be buying a travel kettle lol. Thanks for that tip.
We were stunned 😱 too Matt have a great weekend Cheers 🇵🇹🍵🇨🇦🍻
hi Tina and Norm! we absolutely love all of your very informative videos. We are actually flying out of Toronto and going to be in Albufeira from Mid-March ro Mid -April. It will be our first time in Portugal(Albufeira). Your videos have been very useful to help guide us in the planning of our trip. It seems like this video ( and the previous one ) were made especially for us! lol
we appreciate your tips on finding an Aparthotel. we will definitely consider this for next year! It can be mind-boggling trying to search for a place to stay! also great news about the hotel near the Faro airport! have a great stay in Albufeira!
