This festival is in Poland, though not in Warsaw (it's now in Czaplinek, western Pomerania. At the time of this recording, it was in Kostrzyn nad Odrą). The story is about the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. At the time the Wehrmacht held the city, the Red Army was outside the city on the other side of the river. The Polish resistance staged a city wide uprising, expecting (hoping) for help from the Red Army against the large number of Wehrmacht soldiers in the city. That help never came and the Wehrmacht put the uprising down with maximum force (as expected for really any uprising in any frontline city during a war). The Red Army did not intervene because, basically, the Wehrmacht were taking care of the Polish resistance and therefore allowing the Soviets to take over Warsaw and later Poland with a lot less opposition from the Polish population.
It's the tragic story of the resistance misreading the situation and believing that the Red Army would help them (the Soviets had previously indicated they would support a Polish uprising, though they never outright said so).

The goal of the uprising was to prevent a soviet takeover. The desperate hope was to reestablish a foothold of Polish sovereignty and pray international pressure could discourage the Soviets from reinvading. I don’t think the Polish had much expectation of assistance from anyone. They had been invaded by the Soviets in 1939 and I think they feared the Russians more than the Nazis.
The gamble was the Nazis would be too busy fighting elsewhere to put down the uprising or would recognize a benefit in establishing a buffer zone between them and the Soviet steamroller.
There is some speculation the Soviets actually slowed down their advance to allow the Germans to divert forces to crush the poles.

This performance was in 2012, and yes in Poland. Earlier that year, 4 members left the band and went on to form the band Civil War. Lead singer Joakim Broden, and bassist Par Sundstrom were the only ones to continue on in Sabaton. Seen here is current guitarist Chris Rorland, guitarist Thobbe Englund, and drummer Robban Back.
The 1944 Warsaw uprising. The Russians were closing in, so the Poles rose up against the Germans expecting a Russian attack on the Germans. Instead , the Russians waited until after the Germans put down the uprising, before attacking.
Check out Ghost Division and 40:1 , also played here.

If only those human rats waited until the uprising was over....They waited so long the Germans had enough time to torch and demolish the whole city. Almost every building in there was a small piece of rubble on the ground, like the whole city was carpet bombed.
The song is great though. I've seen them play in the summer of 22 and it was epic.

I saw Sabaton for the first time earlier this Year. They did the same thing for us too, I live and saw them in Scotland, and they played us Blood of Bannockburn, which I found awesome! Is this a thing they do in other countries?

The solo guitarist is Chris Rörland. He often plays a 7-stringed guitar. Also the one playing the solo in Soldier in heaven.

Warszawo Walcz (Warsaw Fight) is in the Vocative case in Polish, which means he’s giving the city a personal, almost human quality. Think as he’s speaking to the VERY SOUL of Warsaw.

Sabaton singer Joakim did a song and video with Nanowar of Steel, who you reacted to some time ago, called Pasadena 1994, maybe you would like to see that, too? Keep up the great work, love your content! :D

Haha, I was just about to say the same thing! Pasadena 1994 is hysterical and sounds like it comes straight from Sabaton's "The Last Stand" album.

Great reaction. If you want to hear something special and the drums from out of this world, try Wintersun - Sons of winter and stars, live studio session.
