• Undertale Red - Ending...
I see a lot of mixed opinions about this game and the OC.
Needless to say, the gameplay is gorgeous. It plays basically the same as Undertale and has its surprises. Dialogue and ending options are well thought (also there is reset/true reset, that might have some easter eggs). For a fan game, it's so good I could as well think it was from the original game!
Red, as a character is OK. She is like a mixed bag of archetypes: a bit of tsundere, kind of cutesy, also valiant and righteous. Generally she seems a bit confused, and this is explained by her fear of having to fight Frisk. She wants to fight him but feels bad for doing so. In the end, she is a good kid, and doesn't really want harm to anyone. Bonus points for the interesting - yet edgy - character design, and her sprite. The sprites (cloak open/closed) are detailed, and maintain original Undertale's feel.
[Also loved how her cowl and face got bruised when Frisk hit her to the face -> great detail!]
The dialogue is OK, I guess. It once again tries its best to remain loyal to the original game. Humour is pretty good, and very Undertale-esque. Not many grammatical errors, and all around it's very good. Undyne calling at the end was unnecessary and was kind of lacking since the creator of the fan game couldn't quite mimic her. Flowey parts were oka, though, again, a bit unnecessary.
*[TLDR]* I think people are way too negative about this fan game. It plays well, the OC is well designed (both personality and outlook) and all in all it remains very loyal to Undertale. Great fan game, I'd love to see more. If I had to give out a rating, I'd give it a solid 9/10 (a lot of quality, though it is a bit short).
+TheHeavyModd The gameplay is pretty different actually, it's hard to describe but aside from Undyne the Undying, Undertale's danmaku is at times more closer to a contained platformer. This is closer to more typical danmaku with area of denial zones, leading shots, delayed lasers and even a focus option.
ManlyBadassHero Ah, I didn't notice when I first watched. I've played touhou before. Yeah, the focus option really isn't Undertale-esque at all.
Strangely enough, Undertale also has that focus option. It's just that no one knows it exists.

apparently, there are more endings then this, going by a comment on another video
Neutral: Attack until half hp, spare. She's ok with this.
Pacifist: Repeatedly talk, then wait her out. Talk again then spare. Lots of conversation options.
Perfect Pacifist: Pacifist, don't use any foods. Feed them all to her and you get some mention of your (sticky) hyper dimensional pockets.
Betrayal: Pacifist, but then attack her. She thought you two were friends.
Genocide: Keep attacking. She remarks that you are not above death, and that someone will strike you down.
Perfect Genocide: Genocide, but don't get hit. She laments about how useless she is, that despite all her efforts, she couldn't even scratch you.
Half-Genocide: Genocide, but don't deal the killing blow (die to the explosions or her weak attacks). Flowey tells you how cruel you are to leave her to die.
Joke: Keep joking at the start. She doesn't take you seriously and leaves. Through the ceiling.
Half Pacifist: Talk until you have to wait her out, then kill her. She didn't realise that you were actually fighting.

The fight mechanics and art is really neat, even when the character lines are kind of cheesy.
I hope that in future versions of this fan game, the dialog gets updated to be more in line with the humor and personality of the actual game.

Oh sweet little Red. I like Red. I really do. But her design is... eh? I guess? It fits well but I'm not very comfortable with how she looks more human than monster. Maybe it's because there aren't many outlandish features besides her eyes? Idk.
And her back story is a bit... iffy? She's supposed to have no family. And personally, never was a fan of those types of backstory. She's hinted at being a dog and part of the Canine Unit. But she has no features and... GAH IT HURTS MY HEAD!
Gameplay was impressive. It was on the edge of being Undertale and HOLY BATMAN THERE ARE BULLETS EVERYWHERE sort of bullet hell game. The attacks were creative and I guess the sentinels were kinda out of place. It's like BOOM I got guns. I mean, I guess Sans was like this but there's a bit of reasoning as to why he has this.
Basically, I personally think Red is one of the best Undertale OCs I've seen. She's unique. But she's sort of bouncy on what she wants to be. And the fact that she has no family left really doesn't drive any points besides to make you feel slightly bad. 8/10 Hot Cats.

Other than that, I will join the world & hold hands as we sing a Kumbaya Remix to honor another Undertale fan game with a unique OCDNS Undyne as "baby Uzumaki Red". At least one of the endings showed the unicorn rainbow world where everyone CAN be friends with everyone. How twee. Matches the Cinnamon Bun(ny) healing item. I was, however, disappointed in not seeing Breadsticks in a Purse as an item.
I liked MBH's quip about the spaghetti being as salty as Undyne's tears when she lost. Pretty good boss battle fan game. Undertale deserves more fans.
+NaturalFlirtGamer I'm hopeful for more fangames on Undertale. There is a Binding of Isaac mod for it (as I learned on Jacksepticeye's channel), and this short encounter does have some cool ideas. I'd love to see what else fans could do.
Shawn Heatherly Some fan games are really well-done & people renew their love for the original. The writing in this was a touch off, but the battle itself was different & good. And omg - can you see a danmaku attack based on Monstro? Cool!
NaturalFlirtGamer I'm just hoping that some of the creativity people have brought to Pokemon or Mario mods will be brought to Undertale. Also, danmaku Monstro would be amazing.
+NaturalFlirtGamer Actually, the overuse of punctuation in one sentence DOES occur in small potions of the original Undertale. Not much, but it's still there.
As for the "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" stuff, yeah. I can see that being a writer's quirk.
Also, this is in 60 frames per second. The heart moves much more smoothly than in the original Undertale, and there's only a small decoloration within the battle UI. The 60 frames thing is probably because of how this IS just 1 boss battle, rather than a huge game.
It's a good little fangame, I guess.

Anyway, yes. There is always debate on punctuation. The debate on the use of an apostrophe & extra "s" with a noun/name ending in "s" still rages on. Is it Santa Claus' sleigh? Or Santa Claus's sleigh?
And I noticed the 60 fps - very nice. An improvement. I love the game quite a bit & have very fond memories associated with the demo version. I feel this was a very good fan game & had a good boss battle gameplay.A____________________z____________________u____________________r____________________e
Like Manly mentioned in the Description, there's actually a few more endings, mostly just small changes or altered dialogue. Two dialogue changes you can get if you can beat her without getting hit on both Pacifist and Genocide runs. (Perfect Pacifist and Perfect Genocide) Another you can get if you beat her without using any items on Pacifist then use all of them, and one more for starting it as a Pacifist run then after she gets mad and starts attacking you for real, fight back.
The major ending change is on Genocide if you beat her down till she's on her dying breath then let her kill you or let the explosions from the guardians kill you, you'll get a little conversation with Flowey.
I think this instance may just be a typo, but I love how the dialogue box says, "You are the Temmie Flakes" at the 5:43 mark.

The dialogue could be improved, but the fighting was good. Love the idea of splitting the box your soul can move around in, it fits well with what other bosses do. I'm really happy to see people creating fangames for Undertale. This was just one encounter, but it does show that a fan community is there to make some interesting content.

The OC Red isn't bad, it's just that her motivations and personality are a bit blurry on the sides. The creator wrote way too many unnecessary exclamation and question marks in the dialogues, which weren't up long enough for us to read. That means we need to pause to read it, and that's too bad considering we wouldn't be able to read it if we were playing it. Also that Undyne part was pretty much completely out of character... I mean I cringed at the first sentence, which seemed more like something Catty would say. See the difference I'm talking about? Way OOC, unfortunately.
Other then that the gameplay is awesome, I love that Red can split the box! Her attacks' patterns were pretty neat too. And although this is just my opinion, I really like the details of her design. You did a great job making this fangame, creator.

Well alot of us have had and still have awkward OCs from genres we like. Red is ok. Her creator just needs more time to make up his/her mind on Red's backstory and motivation.
+MrZash The writing had me pausing the video every-so-often and really distracted me from the gameplay (especially the spelling errors). Despite all of that, the gameplay seems to match and even contest Undertale's gameplay.

Eh, alot of outfits can be seen as generic. As long as the character design fits and flows well, then I personally give it a pass.
Hmm, the Undyne call was unnecessary and Red's character motivation was lazily written. However, the battle system and the character design is really nice. Red's a little edgy design wise, but a little edgy is fine when it comes to mysterious characters.
So, hey, the fan game was ok. 5/10.

If you guys think the dialogue isn't the best, even the creator agrees. They said that making dialogue for a character talking to a silent protagonist isn't their strong suit, and they tried emulating Toby Fox's writing style, which is damn hard to do. But imo, it wasn't too bad. I'm a little confused why people say they didn't mimic Undyne well though, I thought that she was fine with a couple of lines I questioned here and there. I think her exposition on Red was pretty necessary for her backstory, too. But that's just me. But her attacks...oh man they really seal the deal. Very fluid animation (looking at you, Ultra Sans) and original; I love the slicing of the dialogue box.

This fangame kind of makes me wonder if anyone thought to make a varient of the main game where DETERMINATION is weakened. That is, instead of starting back at the last save point when defeated, you start at the beginning of the game. Pretty much a perma-death mechanic, something like that would really transform the game, and the things one chooses to do throughout. (For one thing, the player has more actual incentive to choose a violent option, rather than just for kicks and curiosity)
It's something I considered when thinking about the other six souls, and how one would go about a campaign for them. After all, unlike Frisk who is effectively invincible (And because of how checkpoints are all over the place, death isn't even a slap on the wrist), the others can and did die for good, even with human determination. Such a thing being explored sounds like a neat idea, but it may just be because I have a heart for roguelikes.

This is the kind of unique boss battle I like watching! Would be great if some of the same mechanics were included in the undertale game, I think it was a lot cooler than a lot of the boss battles in the actual game. Still love undertale, though. Neato fangame!

The quirks ruined the characters' personality. Red seemed pretty detached from the other monsters and unoriginal since she's probably meant to be Red Riding Hood's spinoff. The soundtrack didn't fit right either... The only thing that was well developed imo was the fighting system.

This boss mechanics are dope as all hell. Think I'm in love with this character.
Sure Red is not a really great OC but she is a character to begin with only because of this tribute game for Undertale...and she's still way better than the great majority of Undertale OCs like, people in the comments are calling her all trash and edgy. Yes she is a bit edgy and a bit flawed too here and there, but there are way worse examples for Undertale OCs.

There is another ending that not alot of people know. If red is at her last breath and you let her kill you, you will get the left behind ending.

Story wise, and with that I mean the personality, is really weak and the writting feel pretty awkard. The character of Red more than anything end up being more annoying than anything. Don´t have a single clue what is her personality and what her deal was.
The only cool thing was the battle, the idea of separate the box and the guardians. Other than that, typical fanfiction.
red is a royal guardian under the fish head , and wanted to see who you are or what you are by challenging you.

You know, I have to say, it really is an edgy OC design. Nobody likes edgy OCs, right? But I think this character makes it work. I just wish it looked more human, otherwise it's a pretty okay character. The game design is AMAZING, too.
It's only been brought to my attention now but we all know monster souls can't persist after death, causing them to shatter; human souls on the other hand CAN persist, and as Flowey shows us in the beginning the heart in the battle box is our soul. How come our soul doesn't persist after we die? It shatters like all the monsters even though it SHOULD stay together...
Unless...
We are monsters?
Even in pacifist?
Maybe I'm not understanding it properly.
But humans can't absorb human souls but in genocide Flowey says we have a stolen soul even though we aren't supposed to have another human's soul, so maybe Frisk is a soulless monster. Maybe they're just a Chara incarnate that like Asriel can push Chara's murderous habits down.
But wouldn't that make soulless pacifist canon? Maybe I'm just overthinking it, or maybe I'm just doing some tired/stupid/pointless/most likely false theorizing.
+Kyle Starman Frisk fights using his own soul, and while the souls can persist after death, they can't do so if they're destroyed, which is what happens.
