I've got an old 285 that runs. Been thinking of using it as a learning tool for porting.

If you ported before go for it but don't do it because cylinders aren't really available, aftermarket 56mm cylinders have been popping up on ebay so it might be worth it now. I wanna revisit that saw I've got an extra cylinder with some flaws i can mess with. Thanks for watching!

I bought myself the same saw for only $ 70 in very good condition. They are so great saws..One men told me the 285cd, 1100cd, 2100cd, 2101xp and 298xp are the most similar and have many parts that interchange.
Are there any parts for this saw they fit from Husqvarna 65?
Do you know from which Husqvarna models fits the spare parts?

I'm not familiar with the 65, maybe the L77. I know the 480 is an updated L77. I dont know if that helps. Your going to have to do some research. My upcoming video I'm going to talk about some interchangeability on the big 200 series saws check it out. Thanks for watching!

Hey could I get the low and high screw settings that you have yours set at so I have a super good starting base, also my fuel line is rotted with the special grommet built in the middle trying to find something that will work

I typically start my needles out 1 turn each maybe 1 and a quarter, I adjust the fast idle where the butterfly on the carb starts to open. Try ebay for the fuel line, the 285 is the same as 2100s and I think 480s have the same tank/handle too, so fuel lines should be interchangeable

I recently got a 285, that I think needs seals done. Do you know what seals it takes? I like the videos, keep em coming.

285 crankshaft seals, stens #495-412, Husqvarna #503260205, same as 2100s, 288s, and 394/5s. Thanks for watching that means alot. There coming out slowly but surely! on a 285 hot saw project so keep a lookout!

You should never drop start a chainsaw BUT that’s the way I start all of mine too so we’re both breaking Safety Sally’s rules! 😉

As a lad I didn't know of any other way to start a saw. It's the way I was taught.
