Oh thanks so much Terry! This has to be my favourite video yet. That was really nice to see, I probably will never get there, so it was great to see in the detail how you film it!!
Thank You Terry for another fun and very informative video . I am from Brooklyn and now live in Fla. But visiting the Empire State Building was as awesome as I can remember as a kid . Truly wonderful history. Love the way they present the historical facts of building this symbol of the future in the 30’s after the depression. Onward and upward my friend . Keep doing what you do . Well done ! 😘
Thanks Arleen! Its amazing how they have made a trip to the observatory a lesson in history with all the displays and look back at how it was built. Definitely worth another visit!
Between all the toilets in the Empire State Building, a ton of turds are passing by everywhere in the massive plumbing of pipes. Maybe the pipes are in Art Deco as well.😂😂😂
Having never been there myself, this was cool to see so thanks for taking us along. And as always you provided the history along with it. Well done man 👍🏼 Respect ✌🏼
Amazing building. For those who may never have the opportunity to visit NY or in this case, the Empire State Building. This video shows so much art and character. The architecture is beautiful! Thank you for making and sharing this video-blog.
Born and raised in The Bronx, lived in midtown Manhattan in the early 70s. Although I was up to the top of the old WTC twice, I never got around to going up to the top of the ESB. I did see the lobby and was inside the elevators a few times for business purposes. Thanks for the really good tour, speaking with the local nurse and coaxing the uniformed workers to share their stories. Left NY 40 years ago, no regrets... Chuck in Northern New England
Never been there (I'm in ND), but the Empire State Building has always been my favorite building from the time I first saw it in our encyclopedia when I was a kid in the 1960's. Art Deco is so stylish and understated at the same time. Pure class and timeless beauty. I'm 63 now. I should probably try to get there some day.
Absolutely great video and interviews, Terry !! What a building. Great info on the Andy Warhol drawing. Last time I was there was when I was in the 1st grade. I will be 71 in August. I remember it like it was yesterday. That is how stunning the building is. Keep them coming, man. You have the gift of the gab and I love it !!

that was fun. Was there in 1977 after the blackout. Glad I didn't get stuck in the elevator lol. Best place on the observation deck....one that points to sunset. ;)
Thank you Barefoot blogger. For taking us along on the Great Adventure of the Empire State Building. Interesting old building. Yes am going say Happy Holidays To you and your family Godbless . 🥰
I live in upstate NY (about 200 miles north of NYC) and my home is at an elevation of 980'... The top of The Empire state building is still a higher elevation than my home. Such an amazing accomplishment for 1929-1931
When I look at tge Top Empire State building. It seems like A Zeppelin can dock on top. Was there a small plane hit the Empire State building at tge 1940"s.
The big antenna at the top is, primarily, for FM radio. There are also public service antennas and, at least, one HAM Radio repeater up there. WCBS-TV has an auxiliary transmitter there that they used after 9/11.
I visited well over 20 years ago and the staff never had these uniforms on, they look fantastic! I HATED the gust of wind that came up the elevator shaft when we got to the top though 😮 There has been a LOT of upgrades since I went, woah.
I never get tired of watching videos of the empire state building. I would also like to see videos of the Chrysler building which seems to be off limits to the general public.
Shame the guide at 22:10 had no idea about this and was not terribly helpful. But the rest of the staff were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about this iconic building!
Such a hassle for Tourists. And what a ripoff to go up to the Observation Deck. I briefly worked in the Empire State Building, on either the 25th or 52nd floor I can’t remember. Since I worked in the building I don’t think we needed to pay to go the top.
It was a high ranking military officer whom disobeyed ATC - Air Traffic Control orders to not land because he did not get clearance for landing, so he still took off to complete his military job d/t low visibility he got lost and once he was able to see he was flying towards the empire State’s building. He tried to turn to the left, but it was too late and crashed into the building. 7 or 10 people lost their lives because of him disobeying ATC orders. It only took 3 month’s to repair the floor and the penthouse that the elevator dropped into from the ✈️ crashing into it. I do a lot of JFK, LGA and Newark FA ✈️ trips. Great job exploring! 🙌👍🙌
good video I went up there in 82 and also went to the world trade Center it wasn't 45$ it was a couple bucks not sure exact amount that guy that worked there what did he say nothing special he's working at the wrong bldg

OMG 😟 $45 😟 ticket? Wife mentioned like $12 when we were there. I'm a disabled veteran 😞, so she thinks no cost for me at the time ! Nevertheless, what a great time there !! To think that construction workers walked around the frame work with absolutely no safety gear ..
A great building but it's a shame that private businesses have cashed in way beyond reason. I visited it in the 70s and it was free then it might have been three or four dollars a ticket in the 80s. The inflation rate means that ticket should cost may $10 or $12 but it's $45. The same with college costs, raised manyfold the rate of inflation with the top making enormous profits. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was always pay whatever you wish, not any more. There's a sucker born every minute. Don't you realize you're being fleeced??
Last time I went up the ESB was back in 2012. What a beautiful building. I love tall buildings. NY and Chicago are my top favorites when it comes to tall skyscrapers. They just don't build classics like that anymore. Little known fact is that the Indiana Lime stone you see covering the exterior of ESB was quarried from a famous quarry known as "Empire Quarry" located in Bedford,Indiana southwest of Indianapolis. Today, the huge giant crater in the ground is still there to this day. Around 19,000 tons of limestone used in constructing the Empire State Building. A lot of the cut stone was sent by rail to NYC and most of the steel came from Pennsylvania as they constructed the building with these materials until completion in 1931 just shortly after the Great Depression started. The ESB was also from the same Bedford Quarry were the Washington DC's Pentagon, Lincoln, and Jefferson Memorial were also quarried from.
@@BarefootVlogger Yes, they are. Since you're from there have you ever been at the oberservatory at the top of the old World Trade Center. Last time I've seen them up close was back in 1985. Sadly, didn't get a chance to visit inside.

It is sad that we don't make buildings like this in America, anymore. We have become a lazy and stagnant society. We don't plant metaphorical trees for future generations anymore. All our society cares about is extracting as much as we can from the system.
We do build incredible things now. They’re called aircraft carriers. All our best efforts are now spent on the military, exactly how the lobbyists want it.
You paid $45.00 bucks to stroll and go up to 86 floors and then you leave you didn’t bother to go up and do the grand finally at the top of the 102 floor damn you did’t get your money’s worth for $45.00 dollars JEEEZ $ 45.00 WOW!!!!

Holy moly $45 to go to the top! It was less than $10 in the 1980s.

Only $15 more then what inflation is, $10 in 1980 is $39,99 in 2024

That ESB man is completely wrong saying a car from the 1930’s would stand up better to a modern car. Maybe from a door ding, not from a crash.
