All 5 of their albums are so ingrained in my in my heart of memories . I saw them at Shawnee Mission Park for a dollar in 79.And probably30 0r 40 times over the next6-7 years . up till Gary's farewell show in 86.The crystal ball he held for the "whole world is watching" video fell on my head as it rolled off the stage. Golden music from a golden band . That will never get the recognition they deserve . I savor what we do have. A big thank you to Gary , Van and the rest of the boys for some real quality work. A blessing to us all. Thank you
Im a musician from California, and Silent Scream is The soundtrack to my high school years...add Last Chance to the mix...Shooting Star was an incredibly underrated and overlooked band. Am just glad they can be appreciated anew, here
Somewhere in your heart Inside a man there lives a boy And his eyes cut through the smoke His ears cut through the noise Ask a lonely boy He’ll tell you only fools would wait To reach out for those who need Too soon they’re gone and it’s too late Seasons go on I see you still there holding on Time goes on You just hold on, hold on And somewhere in your heart There lives a child with open eyes And he keeps us hanging on He knows every dream we hide Just like a boy who reached to high His dreams crashing to the floor We all need a hand to reach to We grip tighter than before A new day dawns You see yourself still there holding on Time goes on There’s a voice screaming out somewhere (In your heart) Crying out of you somewhere (In your heart) There in your heart Reach out to the night (Somewhere in your heart) The hand that plays the part (Somewhere in your heart) New day dawns I see you still there holding on Time goes on Somewhere in your heart A kid from the street with open eyes Just like a girl with broken love We just can’t be alone tonight Somewhere it all, all breaks even As we’re running through the door In the still of night we surrender It doesn’t matter who you are There’s a voice crying out somewhere (In your heart) Screaming out of you somewhere (In your heart) Yes in your heart Reach for a hand to hold (Somewhere in your heart) You’re going through the door (Somewhere in your heart) Reach out to the night (Somewhere in your heart) To a hand that plays the part (Somewhere in your heart)
They are the most under rated band in the history of music. Incredible lyrics in their songs. Gary West was the best ever. My number 1 band of ALL time
Listening to my favorite band Shooting Star... Still to this day, I can NOT believe how bad they got fucked over by their record companies... Although I did see them 50 to 60 times in my life, it's still sad... But, as Shooting Star says "Train Rolls On"....
Im so glad I got to see these guys on Long Island NY back in 1982? Where is the music like this? look me up on fb anybody if you like this music! Kenneth James Ruggiero
Survivor is the best band!...most consistent....but one question i have for you...is Fm band that has the song "Bad Luck"....cause that shit is CLASSIC!
Gary sings lead on this and most of their songs. On their first album, they had some songs where Van either sang lead (e.g., "You've Got What I Need") or traded lead vocals with Gary (e.g., "Last Chance," "Midnight Man," "Rainfall"). I loved it when they did that, but for whatever reason Gary did the vast majority of the lead vocals after that first record. Charles Waltz did sing lead on two songs on their third album though (and they're pretty good).
I have every album they put out at least two of each..these are priceless to me..best band I have ever listened to
Best band ever in the world
Every song is a masterpiece within itself😊
We should All call our local radio stations and request this song on the same date and time ! Let's bring back the 80's at least for a moment !
This band made so much good music. I think its a crime they never got the recognition or success other bands of the time did.
All 5 of their albums are so ingrained in my in my heart of memories . Somewhere in your heart
Inside a man there lives a boy
And his eyes cut through the smoke
His ears cut through the noise
Ask a lonely boy
He’ll tell you only fools would wait
To reach out for those who need
Too soon they’re gone and it’s too late
Seasons go on
I see you still there holding on
Time goes on
You just hold on, hold on
And somewhere in your heart
There lives a child with open eyes
And he keeps us hanging on
He knows every dream we hide
Just like a boy who reached to high
His dreams crashing to the floor
We all need a hand to reach to
We grip tighter than before
A new day dawns
You see yourself still there holding on
Time goes on
There’s a voice screaming out somewhere (In your heart)
Crying out of you somewhere (In your heart)
There in your heart
Reach out to the night (Somewhere in your heart)
The hand that plays the part (Somewhere in your heart)
New day dawns
I see you still there holding on
Time goes on
Somewhere in your heart
A kid from the street with open eyes
Just like a girl with broken love
We just can’t be alone tonight
Somewhere it all, all breaks even
As we’re running through the door
In the still of night we surrender
It doesn’t matter who you are
There’s a voice crying out somewhere (In your heart)
Screaming out of you somewhere (In your heart)
Yes in your heart
Reach for a hand to hold (Somewhere in your heart)
You’re going through the door (Somewhere in your heart)
Reach out to the night (Somewhere in your heart)
To a hand that plays the part (Somewhere in your heart)
I live in Texas and heard this song being played on the radio back in the day. I love it and wish I'd bought the album.
They are the most under rated band in the history of music. Incredible lyrics in their songs. Gary West was the best ever. My number 1 band of ALL time

Who was the singer, Gary West or Van Mclain?
Gary was the primary but it just depends on what song they were singing
Charles walz also.
