*_That was the largest single piece of raw Granite I have seen slabbed._* Once it was cut down to manageable size pieces, they were much easier to work into final product. That is a beast of a saw and it had no problem cutting boulder into slabs. *_Cutting, grinding, polishing all done by experienced workers._*
I've seen as much Waste as I have good stone. They should find more ways to use as much of the material as possible. Sell the chunks and chips to craftspeople etc.

We did another job thats stair case was installed in the 1800s , the Granite treads were 4meter by 60cm by 20cm .. We did another where the stair treads were a black diorite.. they arrived from China polished, and not what was specked.. so they were sent to a plant to be flamed.. several hundred square meters worth..
"Black granite" - which that appears to be - is not what a geologist calls granite. It might actually be gabbro, diabase or some other igneous rock. It's a generic term in construction materials.
