It hasnt, they totally messed up the ranking. Im quoting their own article: "The Neotec 2 also did well for noise isolation since we recorded about 101 decibels." "The GT Air 2 also did very well for noise isolation since we got a measurement of about 97 decibels." "For Noise, the Shoei GT Air 2 outdid the Neotec 2 getting 5 stars to the Neotec’s 4."
@@Senekha86 I got the Shoei GT Air 2 around 2 months ago. It is AMAZINGLY quiet. However, that's with vents closed. With the chin vent open, there's an annoying whistling sound. I'm on a naked bike (Z900)
Loved the GT Air 1. Still a great helmet. What i dislike about the GT Air 2 is the weight, its heavier than its predecessor and in particular its SRL2 Sena system. I would prefer a GT Air 2 where i can choose different comms systems between Cardo and Sena
Thanks for sharing your experience! The GT Air 2 has received a lot of complaints about the SRL 2 since it takes away peoples' choice of systems. Did you find any differences in terms of comfort or noise isolation?
@@Championhelmets i did not purchase the GT Air 2 in the end so i can't really compare personally. As my old Sena 20s is still working great. I got myself a 2nd GT Air which i replace my ageing GT Air. The only thing i can see physically as an improvement over the GT Air is the GTA Air 2 visor can be pop open very slighly to prevent fogging in cold wet weather, and the internal sun visor drops another 5mm lower
@@rajindarsingh1417 Ultimately, both helmets do very well for sound proofing so if you were already thinking of a full face helmet like the GT Air 2, that would probably be the best to go for since the GT Air 2 also does a bit better for weight.
good review... in fact great review! but yup, i thought i had my youtube setting on 1.25x speed... i had to slow it down to 0.75x to understand you better 😄
How come the Neotec II got 5 stars for the same visor/internal visor set-up as the GT Air 2 which only got 4 stars for it ... ?!! Tough choice between these two for best touring helmet: the modular makes petrol stops etc nice and easy, but the GT is lighter with better styling (imho) and possibly a little safer (fixed chin)?! The Sena thing 😒 forced me towards the AGV Sportmodular and the K5 S, tho’ (or ‘just’ an Arai with tinted visor 😎🥰) ... Good vid, as always; cheers!
Thanks for catching that, Kieren, the Neotec 2 should also be 4 stars since the two offer a similar level of quality and features. Though the GT Air 2 has not been tested by SHARP yet, it does provide better coverage than the Neotec 2 whose chin bar remained closed in 70% of tests. Aside from the communications system compatibility, the Sportmodular does have the added advantage of being much lighter than the Neotec 2. Thanks for the comment!
Both helmets are top of the line so it may be a bit hard to give a simple answer. Based on our road test of both helmets, both actually performed very similarly with about 4 stars each. Even in terms of Euros/star both got 24. The biggest differences we found were the C4 Pro was better at noise isolation while the Neotec 2 was a hair better in terms of comfort and its visor. Thanks for the question! What drew you to the GT Air?
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll add the comparison to our list! In the meantime, you can also find all these helmets compared together here: th-cam.com/video/1uk_m9olOdE/w-d-xo.html What did you think of the road test of the Neotec 2?
@@Championhelmets I own the Shoei GT Air 2. So far I'm very satisfied. It's quiet and comfortable. The visors work great and with pinlock in place it's almost impossible to get a foggy visor. I have experienced some condensation on the sun visor when it has been in it's folded up position and I have been stationary for a longer time with the other visor down. I come from an old Shoei z-one helmet (17years) so... everything is better 😁

Shoei GT Air 2 - worst Helmet I've had in 30 years riding. - Unbelievably loud, heavy - Unusable in cold environments: Below 15°C you have outside temperatures inside the Helmet, I guess that's the "Air" feature where the name comes from. - Uncomfortable in warm environments: As cold and windy the Helmet is in cold environment and closed ventilation, as bad is the helmet in warm environment and open ventilation, almost unbridgeable above 30°C - Available intercom (+300€) makes it even heavier and the sound quality for music is even worse than anything you could imagine. - Visor material is very soft, never had to replace a Visor on any Helmet, had to replace the Visor on the GT Air 2 three times already, seems even insects scratch the visor on impact. Inner visor is almost uncleanable, everything you do to it, including taking it out and in again will scratch of the coating, insects get embedded into the plastic/coating. But by far the worst is Shoei's not existing customer service - 5 times at the dealer, once sent to Shoei directly, nothing changed, they claim I would only imagine all that and the Helmet is the best Helmet in the world. Even a 100€ MTR-K14 beats the Shoei in almost every situation. Never again Shoei!

Can't believe a modular helmet has a better noise isolation than the full face version.
