My last train set was in 1959 but I wish this was in my back room now . Wonderful hobby during lockdown. This layout and the camera work is the best I have seen, well done.
Well worth the wait what a great and inspiring video love all the work you have done great weathering on wagons and all the little details that you have put into your layout.
Thank you David. Your excellent model making is now coupled with a remarkable standard of video production. I was surprised that so much activity would have taken place on a Sunday morning in the '60s.
Hi, many thanks for your kind comments - much appreciated. Yes I probably made it look too exciting 😁😁 - Sundays were my least favourite days in the 1950's & 60's. I have a timetable for Huntingdon from the 1950s and a few trains did run on Sundays (in my defense!) ... David
@@davidhyde4329 Hi David. My main railway-related memory of Sundays in the 60's is each week, after church, going to the main station in Nairobi. There was little traffic at that time of day but there was often a Beyer Garratt 4-8-4+4-8-4 waiting for its next duty, plus the actual carriage from which the Man-eater of Tsavo snatched its most famous victim. Highlight of the visits was lunch at the station restaurant - a seven-course silver service menu costing 10 shillings. I can still recall some of those flavours!
A really nice layout and the scenery is amazing and very well run. But the thing that lets it down in my opinion is the HOOK, BARS for Couplings on the Locomotives and running stock. Sorry my friend hope you don’t mind my comments. Regards from Ron. 👍😃
Each of the many times I've watched this video, I've enjoyed it more, noticing new nuances that enhance the pleasure. The masks are absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for your work and for sharing it.
Very very good modeling and realistic running , a PLEASURE TO DREAM, BACK TO THOSE DAYS, AND YES I MANAGED TO ADD THE DIFFERENT SMELLS IN FOR MYSELF ! Thanks again
I have only just viewed this, absolutely superb, outstanding, the finest representation of a rake of mineral wagons I've seen, your attention to detail is astonishing, thank you.
How nice to see your work again, David. Deresley is looking splendid now and I thoroughly enjoyed this short glimpse into the working day. Superlative work! Kind regards - Ross.
Absolutely fantastic David it's great to see a layout working to a timetable. May I congratulate you on a fantastic upload of deresley Sunday working, so realistic.
Brilliant! The ingenuity on so many levels; the videography/photoshop-ery, the timetabling & logistical planning and the sheer modelling ingenuity are to be applauded. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos and thank you for the obvious time that you’ve taken with all of them, it clearly shows and I’m sure I speak for many when I say, well done! 👌🏻👍🏻
This is one super realistic railway , being a lad from Bristol , born in 63, this brings back fond memories , we had a railway track from Bristol to Bath run past our housing estate , though it was decomissioned in the late sixties early seventies. They have kept a part of the Bitton to Bath section running though. And used to run a steam train on there , l think they still do . Fascinating stuff David 👍
I haven’t been in the habit of commenting on the many videos I have been watching for inspiration now I have got my layout up and running again after 20+years, but I saw this Christmas morning and delayed the start of the day somewhat because of it.This is a brilliant piece of work and I loved every second of it. Congratulations.
Hi Roy, many thanks, I am so pleased to receive your kind comments. Very, glad you liked it. Nice to hear you are running your railway again, I wish you much happiness with it. Thanks again ... David
A delightful railway & video. Thank you. My railway is an end to end with junction system, so I especially appreciated your realtime working. Mine, originally design for three man operation, but since my grandchildren are now adult & working, I am able to operate three separate areas, in isolation, which saves me from walking a marathon around the railway room. Again, thank you so much. We are watching yours on our tele.
I was born in the mid 50s, and I am no train nut, but do like them and remember them well. The sheer hard work put into the imagitive and nostalgic themes in this video are to put it mildly superlative. You are obviously one very talented, and gifted individual who leaves little to the imagination. Thank you very much for sharing your video Sir 👍 Tam.
Hi Tam I was born a little earlier than you in the late 40s, I enjoyed train spotting with my friends but I too was no train nut. I tried to get that remembered feeling of peaceful, bird-sound countryside that flooded in once the noises of the trains had passed. We obviously remember those times fondly in the same way. So glad you liked it.❤❤❤ ... David
Hello David, I enjoy watching your work on Deresley, the running videos and your dinky car renovations. I would love to see how you run your fiddle yard and where it fits in within your layout. I'm looking to build a layout, but like you, I can't have a circuit layout. Looking forward to watch future films. Kind regards, Mookie.
What an amazing layout and a brilliant video. Time-consuming yes but the result is out of this world for scenic beauty and interest. I loved it. The scenic masks are perfect. The layout seems very large with all the detail that is packed in.
What a fantastic railway, the models are all superb & the weathering is top notch,a very inspiring layout,as for the 5 clampetts that hit the dislike button,I can only summise that they mustn't have much going on on their planet,David you have a wonderful layout 👍
What a splendid layout and beautifully shot video. I particularly enjoyed the shot through the signal box window; incredibly realistic. I also loved the (I presume) DCC sound and station announcements. I never saw a Baby Deltic, but if that's what they sounded like, I missed a treat! Now I've found your channel I'll be looking out for more videos.
Many thanks Jonathan, many have liked the signal box shot - fun to do. No, I did not use DCC for any of the sound in this video. I made a completely separate sound track using actual recordings of preserved locomotives. The Baby De tic was difficult as none are in preservation. However I did find a similar loco restoration that was fitted with a Baby Deltic engine. I have been informed by those who remember them, that this distinctive sound is accurate. The station announcement were read by my granddaughter. I recorded her voice and added some echo etc. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David

Thanks Peter, glad yo found my channel and video. Really great comments, very encouraging. I am eager to create an 'atmosphere' - something you can't buy in the model shop. Thanks for picking up on this - so pleased you liked it 👍👍
In the words of Monty P “it’s only a model! “ I love the shot from the switching tower with the truck in the background crossing the bridge as the train approaches. Great work great fun.
Splendid! This is what a model railway running session should be like. I am not a fan of things running aimlessly in circles. A timetable is a wonderful thing.
well done David hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and a very happy new year to you all. ,great reconstruction, i love all the Deltic class, and the class 8 .
Wow, is this one of those earth shattering, ground breaking moments in our hobby? It certainly is for me. The filming, background and foreground images, and illusion of realism are stunning. How you created that view down the line with the disappearing perspective I will never know. For me this video is one of those moon landing, 911 moments, when you remember where you were when you saw it. OK, granted, being sat on the loo watching the video on my laptop may not be the image I want to remember, but you get my drift!
Thanks Bob - wow - I don't know what to say. Obviously I am truly delighted you posted your comments. I have been overwhelmed with similar comments from my subscribers. This 'avalanche' of praise is making me take stock of how I want to proceed with my model railway. I seem to have found a way my simple layout can attract the interest of so many people. I hope I am able to maintain this interest going forward. Thanks again ... David

Real railway atmosphere.
Thanks Peter, glad yo found my channel and video. Really great comments, very encouraging. I am eager to create an 'atmosphere' - something you can't buy in the model shop. Thanks for picking up on this - so pleased you liked it 👍👍
Superbly detailed and videoed
Many thanks. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
In the words of Monty P “it’s only a model! “ I love the shot from the switching tower with the truck in the background crossing the bridge as the train approaches. Great work great fun.
Many thanks Len. I enjoy doing these shots and I have more planned for 2020. Appreciate your very kind comments. Happy New Year ... David
Splendid! This is what a model railway running session should be like. I am not a fan of things running aimlessly in circles. A timetable is a wonderful thing.
Thanks James - I sometimes wish for a never-ending loop - but then again ........... David
well done David hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and a very happy new year to you all. ,great reconstruction, i love all the Deltic class, and the class 8 .
Many thanks, Much appreciated - A Happy New Year to you and yours also ... David
Thoroughly enjoyed watching trains go by. Nice to see a very well put together video 👍
Very kind of you to say - glad you enjoyed it ... David
David
Hi David a wonderful video to watch several times so much detail and atmosphere. Congratulations on the best video I have ever seen. You must have spent dozens of hours. Thank you so much... Best Wishes Charles Richard Crompton. Canterbury Kent England
Glad you enjoyed it Charles. Wonderful comments - makes it all worth while. Indeed it did take many enjoyable hours of filming and editing. 👍👍
