@@gerryfogarty7998 I'm surprised garak didnt just go ahead and kill gul dukat at some point since they obviously despised each other and didnt garak say once that he'd been a gul himself wonder what happened he obviously was demoted and banished to ds9 as punishment....so WTF already...
Bajor is much like India - more advanced earlier, but became primitive later. They had castes, and many gods. Cardassians are like what the British Empire did to India - use Indians as slave labor to extract their own resources for Britain. The analogy is very accurate.
I'd actually say it strikes me more as an analogy to the korean occupation/annexation by japan in the early 20th century. Both lasted about 50 years, both were instituted on the basis of the people they conquered as being "culturally/technologically inferior" and both instituted deeply traumatic oppression on the people they conquered, such as use of the population as slave labor, unethical experimentation and "comfort women". Also like Korea's occupation, there also rose a nationalist/independence movement that used terrorist attacks to oust/discourage their oppressors.
Imagine having the nerve to say "The Analogy is very accurate." To your own comment LOL. Of course the writers took influence from worldly affairs, but whether one more than the other is stupid. Was India more advanced before? Pretty sure they had little competitive edge in the grand scheme of things. They had the Moguls ruling over them before Britain, and even they weren't that powerful, yet native India couldn't beat them? When the British easily did? India had been ruled by a successive line of other powers even before the British. And BTW, the British did good for India. Far more than the likes of the Moguls.
Would be great to see a pre-occupation Bajor in one of the series. I imagine they would be all deeply religious, tied into the arts, with few to no one having any kind of militant attitude. Their level of technology would be comparatively low but decent enough that they've known about alien worlds for a long, long, time, just never really had any interest in anyone but the Prophets.
That's something which has bugged me for ages. Why didn't the Bajorans destroy the book? I mean it was was about and influenced by the leader of the Pah Wraith. Was there a reason that Sisko had to be the one to do it?
It was an important book for them, even though it was evil, it was still part of their religion, and in theory they might need to be studied at some point in the future. They may also have thought they didn't have the right to destroy something written by/from the gods. Sisko, on the other hand, was the Emissary, he spoke for the Prophets and so could pretty much do whatever he wanted.
I love how Sisko was more than willing to do balls to the wall stuff to protect his people. Along with those he cared about. He might have sold his self respect to win a war. But he did it for all the right reasons. He did it so that people could live their lives and not be in fear.
Five hundred thousand, thirty thousand under guidance. Compared to other civilizations Bajorians are sloooow, as others had vast interstellar empires, developed reality altering technologies, or evolved beyond corporal bodies/the third dimension.Obviously the Cardassians are not right in their actions but one could find such a comparatively ancient civilization...disappointing.
Well, if you constantly get protected by your space daddy prophets, there is no need for you to advance. Another reason why I like the Cardassians more. (Of course I also don't think that they are right in what they do, but they at least worked for their progress themselves without getting their hands held by some extremely powerful alien prophets for no apparent reason.)
He was killed by the Jem'Hadar trying to liberate Cardassia. He died, but his death galvanized the rebellion to ultimately capture the founder and end the war.
Something occurred today me. The Prophets of the Bajorans are a lot like polytheistic gods...while the Q are more like monotheistic ones... They also seem like naive versions of the Q. All the power, none of the understanding or knowledge. Almost like they're proto versions of Q...like an earlier stage of their evolution??? Also, it would explain the Qs obsession with humanity and the enterprise, in particular, as their emissaries arrival at DS9 hinged entirely on the events of the battle of Wolf-359...which happened because the federation was introduced to the Borg by...who else but Q??? Just a crazy thought...I'm sure. If nothing else their non linear existence hurts this theory...although that same fact works against them not already understanding everything explained to them about linear existence when they first appeared in the show...
I feel like they were very careful to refer to the prophets as that and not gods. A belief in divine spiritual prophets may seem like the same as a belief in gods to athiests (in name or otherwise) but they are different relationships.
I always imagined that if we had explored Bajoran civilization in one of the prequel series that they would have been more akin to religious fanatics, and more intolerant in some way on a divine quest of manifest destiny, maybe even this arrogance might have antagonized the Cardassians to try to conquer Bajor.
Yes, deeply religious folks, artsy/fartsy types all over. I believe the Cardies were similar in nature before the central command took over what was then a starving and disastrous planet and that may have reminded them of they used to be watching over the Bajorans so wanted to "help" them, at least early on in the occupation.
I agree, the Cardassians are more interesting and also more realistic. The Bajorans are just "uwu we are so pure and our space daddy prophets protect us for no reason :3" and basically a race that never does anything wrong (even the xenophobic movement was secretly created by the eeeevil Cardassians and not the Bajorans themselves, despite the fact that it would make totally sense for there to be widespread xenophobia after literally having been colonised by aliens for so long). I absolutely hate this fantasy and sci-fi trope of ~~pure~~ races that never do any bad things and always just get screwed over by "evil" races. The Bajorans didn't even really advance on their own like the Humans or the Vulcans did, they have just always been ~~pure~~ and spiritual and protected by their space daddys. The Cardassians are more sympathetic, even though they are pretty much fascist they at least are not a Mary Sue race that is constantly shown as too good and righteous for this world...

can u do marvel timeline 4_5 becoz of black panther flasback scene?
sorry redo
The CivilizationEx speaks as if he is of Bajor
CivilizationEx thank you. I have been a trekie since the first show came on air back in the mid 60's.
You have to do a character bio of Garak "Just a Tailor". How great would that be?
Bio of Garak
Just a tailor
There you go.
Garak has no title he is just plain and simple Garak.
William Sledge More accurately Elim Garak, son of Enabrain Tain Head of the Obsidian Order
@@gerryfogarty7998 and a tailor

My theory is that the Prophets where Bajorans from the future that evolved to a higher dimension and interacted with their species past.
This wouldn't be the 1st time a People in ST evolved beyond their physical being.
Love Trek lore the most
Thanks for the trek info!
It is important to note that sisko did not die.

Feudal system like a china in the mid 1800's when English took Koolon peninsula.
So... The pa/wraths were basically the bajoran version of the fallen angel lucifer (satan)
So you’re telling me that Ben Sisko and Dukat pulled a Calabrimbor and Sauron and are now sealed away together? Brutal.
Dukat died and Sisko was transported into the dimension of the Prophets. He's hinted to be able to return at some point in the future.
I have a soft spot for bajorans and trill
@1:05 when did sisko release the prophet and pa wraith from the tablet? I don't remember this happening
Season 6 Episode 21, The Reckoning, the bodies of Kira and Jake are taken over and the spirits have a battle aboard DS9. :)
@@CivilizationEx amazing, thanks

If any ST species were to have SW Force powers, it would be the Bajorans.

Bajor is the Morrowind of Star Trek.

To put it quite frankly, I was not expecting to see that. I have more questions than answers on your animators.
DS9 is the best I only wish there could have been more seasons!
I love star wars but Star Trek lore is better
True that far more interesting as well...cant imagine why...maybe the prophets have something to do with it ??🤣😹😹🤣❣❣
Star wars is kid stuff....
You didn't say if they joined the federation or not?
By the end of the Dominion War they were still independent, but likely joined the Federation later on, though we don't know for sure

OK thanks.
By the time of Star Trek Online, they did!
