    It’s a shame this gent is getting so much flak in the comments for speaking directly to the camera. Yep - it does come across as a bit clumsy, but we’re not all experienced presenters! And to be fair, the opening sequence from Jonny is direct to camera. Suggestion for Jonny - I reckon an initial “cut” and 60 seconds of polite direction would have given him the appropriate guidance.

      Thank you for this comment. As you can see Durran has come under a lot of fire for turning to speak to the audience, and in truth as director/presenter Jonny should have asked him to try a different version. Durran was nervous and trying to make sure his knowledge and passion for what is an extremely ambitious project came across in the video. This episode had been over a year in the waiting, too. Had we known how it would offend so many TLBS viewers we would have never edited it and put it out in this style. Please, please can we be a little kinder to Durran. It isn't like he was ignoring Jonny at all - he was trying to address 'the room'.

      No disrespect to Johnny, but he's just a talking head compared to this bloke.

    This is a beautiful looking product but I'm guessing it's £200,000+ to achieve and I was a bit disappointed about the relatively high ev noise when running ev only.
    But this business about whether Durran should face the camera or not seems to be a bit over-the-top criticism to me. He gave clear detailed info - that's what I would want if I were in the market for a project like this.

    No respect for Jonny. Thinks he is a co-presenter. They should just cut him out of the picture and only hear his voice in the editing. But nice car nevertheless. 😂

    I certainly don’t see anything wrong with his presenting style. I’d rather this than most of the in yer face influencer styles TH-cam is full of.
    Jonny should have made it clear from the start that the chap is showing Jonny round the car like two mates would rather than it being a marketing piece.

    Brilliant.

    Wow to worry about him looking into the camera is so cheesy, common people it's about the vehicle not him being a movie star . Such a chinsy thing to mention. This vehical is so cool. My question is how much to have all this done . And do you have to own one first or do they have ones you can buy.

    Does seem like a huge waste of time and effort build out largely redundant tech, just make it an EV. (Add a range extender of you must)

    • @TheLateBrakeShow
      @TheLateBrakeShow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We hear you Stephen, but there's a lot of folks who fear pure EV and don't think it will work for their lifestyle. In the US the distances people drive is far higher, hence this customer wanting a large range PHEV.

      @@TheLateBrakeShowwhat did Electric Classic Cars put in their 2017 conversion? a 100kWh which they estimated at 200miles range? That would have been using 2013/14 Tesla cells, Sandy Munro says their modern 18650s are rated at 181.5 wH/kg, so at least 15% better than those in a P85. If they were also happy with the 300kg weight increase from the video, that could extent the pack to 150kWh which with the more efficient cells should get circa 350 miles range, probably more in a California climate. I’d be going down that route myself.

    It’s obviously never going to go off road but I’d love to know it handles the rough stuff and what the axle articulation is now like.

    When the Manufacturer puts a part on a vehicle it's not "Bespoke" otherwise every vehicle would be Bespoke... Bespoke is when the Client asks for something to be made that ISN'T supplied by the Manufacturer... that's English...

    Just coming to this video now and have to say I'm ashamed of some of the comments ... the bloke comes across as a nice guy, passionate about his projects, who is clearly intelligent and knowledgable. He's not a professional presenter ... most of us who occasionally stand in front of a camera for You Tube aren't either .. and we don't always get it right. Sometimes we always get it wrong .. but people put themselves out there to entertain and inform people. I'd rather have a knowledgeable person to listen to than a slick presenter!! Well done Durran mate ... you did spot on .. anyone who says otherwise is a bit full of their own ego .. I'd happily like to see some of them come and present themselves. People complaining about it being a sales pitch? Well of course it is .. he has a business selling these things! He isn't going to be in business very long if he doesn't sell them is he? I'm pretty confident the companies you work for sell stuff too ... at least I hope they do or your job will be short lived. Car looks absolutely fantastic Durran. Very much my kind of thing. If you fancy a northern bloke doing something with one despite my ridiculously small channel and viewing numbers I would absolutely love it! Keep up the top work!

    Impressive engineering but it's a complete waste of batteries putting them in something like this - they're a limited resource and would be better spent fully electrifying a smaller car, 60+ kWh would be enough to do that. I'd hazard a guess it's also £200k+ and >3tonnes? May as well just stick the LS in it, put a cat on and be happy with the better mpg
