Great 911 engine update content, from Socal, I just setup a page to track 911 sales so that I can eventually find one. I added a link of this vid to the bottom of my web page. Thanks again,
@@GarageTimeAutoResto That looks like a fun event your documented there. Where people actually showing up at the parts event with parts cars on trailers..? That would be the dream, buying a project from the owner at some point.
More excellent work, Tom. Good luck with the return line and tank fitting. What a pain! By the way, your tire bouncing technique from your short video was actually a technique used on the 1960s Mopar assembly line to load spare tires into trunks. Who knew you were so retro?
Thanks for recommending Raptor Liner. I was looking for something to closely match the factory black wheel well and undercarriage coating on my 1982 911 SC.
Upol Rator is great stuff and so is Wurth. The important thing is to get the right undercoating gun, pressure, distance, etc. That is what gives it the perfect texture.
Interesting, I have ever faith in the 901 box, they appear to take some stick!! Even if the purests are up in arm's. I love the gear change but have to remember where 1st for the 1st couple of minutes Finding all the 915 bits could add 2K+ on the conversion, oil pipes pass as factory 👍
as always, another fabulous job, tom! the engine mounts and the oil line indents look like they are factory! i'm surprised that the car didn't sit much lower with the added weight but it sure needs those Carrera TBs. please include that in your "to do" list if it's ok with you..? :) it looks like i'll be busy with some dent and rust repair underneath, clean-up and detail work from top to bottom when the car gets here and will need several cans of that cavity wax and POR 15! :)
Great job again! The raptor bedliner you used for undercoating, does It look like the factory one? I saw 902 transmissions in tesla powered EV swapped 911 / 912 and it seems like they can handle the higher hp and torque that comes with it. I am still curious how yours is gonna handle the new engine but I am confident it will. 👌🏻
I think it does. Some people like gravitex which is one part version. Raptor is two part, so I think it's better. The look is all in the gun settings. Thanks for the comment about the EV. That's a really good point. Hopefully Benji stays in touch so we all know the car performs over time!
Just curious but in looking at all the great fabrication you did is there any possibility of getting a standard 912 4 cylinder to produce close to 200hp?
200HP isn't really possible with the 912 block. They can be bored and stroked to 2.2L, but thats around 180 HP and you still need oil cooling lines. I think the type IV engine can get to 200 HP relatively easy?
@GarageTimeAutoResto that's what my 82 911SC 3.0 produces but I'm sure it would cost quite a bit. You are in California where these cars were in greater numbers which should equal greater access to used parts. I'm in Illinois and the cost to buy a 3.2 and ship it would probably be near 20k my guess. As a new 911 owner you have taught me a great deal about the anatomy of the car with these videos so much thanks to you.
In a previous video I added a 3/8 stainless fuel line for supply fuel. The return fuel passes through the original line. Fuel pump isn't stock. 912's had a mechanical fuel pump. Stock brakes are fine for street use and light car.
Is the tranny aluminum or magnesium? If Alumi9num, replace the intermediate plate bearings. We run a 2.8 RSR with 325 hp with a steel intermediate plate. Upgraded the flywheel to a 70 71 and have had no problems.
@@GarageTimeAutoResto tom, we'll try the tranny as it is at this time but in case we need to upgrade, would it hard to get one and would that be something tedious to install?

Cool, I appreciate it. Did you see these cars for sale?

Enjoy the search, that can be half the fun. I almost miss the pain...almost. But when you find the right one, it'll all be worth it!

Yeah. Several project cars for sale here.

Ha ha, who knew? I wonder how many tires bounced randomly into things they shouldn't have? Funny!

Can't wait to try it out. The dogleg gearbox does take some getting used to.
Great work!
And on your way to 10.000 subscribers!
Greetings from Germany!
Thx, and YES! 10k woohoo
Thank you Sir for this video!! Your Subsciber on the West Coast Los Angeles
Very cool. I hope to meet you one of these days since we are neighbors. I see you watched a few vids. Thanks for that!
Nice progress again! Whether the 901 will hold up remains to be seen. But she'll be a real sprinter, as the gears are much shorter than in a G50.
Thanks, I can't wait to see what the gearing is like. Should be fun.
Excellent progress Tom. Looking good.
Thanks Jeff!

Thanks Benji, The underside doesn't look too bad, but some areas do need some TLC.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
👍
Are the original fuel pump and lines big enough to feed that bigger engine? Are you going to put in bigger brakes?

Can you send the link for the head light band?

Its an aluminum one. A steel intermediate plate seems like the hot ticket!

I feel sorry to tell you that you can find the same headlight half the price on aliexpress :/
waste of time and money,
Interesting, what do you spend your money on?
@@GarageTimeAutoResto Well he probaly spends it on Jack Daniels
