Tony's elderly parents were struggling living on their own in their large two-story home on a hill in San Francisco, so Tony knew something had to change soon. After years of trying to convince them, his parents finally agreed to downsize and they couldn't be happier.
With the help of Goldbar Builders, they came up with a gorgeous 800 sq ft, two-bedroom unit with an open floor plan and gorgeous landscaping.
Not a single detail was missed when designing this accessory dwelling unit for elderly tenants. Goldbar Builders incorporated a wheelchair ramp, a no-threshold shower, and other features to make their lives as easy as possible.
Tony's parents are so grateful that they made the transition. Nothing beats enjoying the lovely weather on their patio and taking in the beautiful landscaping. Their lives are much easier now that they have their son and his family to assist when they need help.

Good for you. How thoughtful. And the shower is so smart! People just don’t get that usually. That needs to be done in your bathroom in your sixties . Forward thinking. I took care of people for 39 years nobody realizes how important that is for the shower
I live in a 100 yr old house and it has 9 ft ceilings in Pasadena CA I can’t imagine moving and getting anything less now. Also views are wonderful. I’ve only had two views in my life. Once in Lancaster ca where one look outside you could see Joshua trees for a mile. And my fave place HOLLYWOOD where we could see capital records building close up from the living room, parts of Hollywood from the dining room and the Coca Cola sign, many homes and all the way to century city from the kitchen. For an old movie aficionado.. I was in HEAVEN!! it was 600/month at the time 1 bedroom.
Awesome job. This is what my both kids are planning to do for us when we are at that age. Good heart good people do good things on this earth. Beautiful ADU. Loved it. Very nice parents, so a nice son for sure.

I wanted to do an 800 sq ft ADU but the impact fees were simply too expensive, so instead I did a 745 sq ft ADU.

What size is your front porch?
How much do 800 Sq ft tiny homes cost on average to build. I’m interested in having one built on a piece of land in Tucson AZ. Any recommendations?
Hi! We would estimate that an 800 sq ft ADU in Tucson, Arizona would start at about $150,000. Just want to clarify that ADUs and tiny homes are two very different things. We're not sure how much a tiny home would cost.
