    One thing I would like to point out is if you're dealing with extreme driveline angle while using a cardan joint, you want to check and make sure it doesn't bind up or rub during rotation, it will eat up transfercases. I learned the hard way on a 04dodge Cummins.

    Good info..
    I've got a 1983 Toyota Corolla Wagon that came from the factory with a 2 piece driveshaft and center carrier baring...
    Thing is I've raised the rear of the car with an extra main leaf spring added to the leaf pack ...
    I removed the eyelets form the extra main leaf befor adding it to the leaf pack ...
    Thing is now I'm having driveline vibration , and was wanting to know if the double cardon joint could be added to the rear shaft and if that would eliminate the Viberation ?
    Any info would be greatly appreciated ..

    I took off my drive shaft when I rebuilt my 4.0, and when I put it back on, it became very loose where the slip yoke is. Now it makes a clunk noise every time take off and goes away within about 2 seconds. I have the same driveshaft as the one installed in this video. Any ideas on what could be the problem? Or if it can be just serviced or I just have to replace it completely? It didn't make any noise before the engine rebuilt. I put grease in it, also replaced bad u-joints and still making the clunk noise.

    Hi, I have a off topic question regarding a 96 ZJ 5.2. I want to replace my transmission lines from the transmission to the cooler, I already have factory [ebay] replacement lines and see that the trans. side has the so-called quick disconnect fittings but they aren't the same as say the fuel filter as they don't compress though there are tabs, the plastic is 360 degrees so I can see how it would compress like the fuel filter. I am replacing due to rust but not leaking yet. I think I could try to turn the fitting where the quick disc. and line live but I still would need to get the plastic fitting out for reassembly
    Any ideas?

    Also I just subscribed to rough country.
    ALSO also I have a question. I will be replacing my rear drive shaft soon and my TC needs to be pulled apart and resealed. Since ill be down there is there any reason I should consider an SYE if I'm going with an OME 2" lift in the future? I know it isn't necessary but I'm curious what you have to say.

  • @RockyMtnRC
    @RockyMtnRC 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a solution on the rear drive shaft to fix the drive shaft angle on a 4" lift (mine) without going to a SYE? A different type of drive shaft that can bolt right on to the stock set up? At the moment I have vibration. Under the new lift springs, there is a 1/4 inch wedge tipping my axle forward. The rear input and drive shaft are in a perfect line which I realize they should not. To push that down and fwd so it is flat just like the the output from the transfer case, I need a much larger wedge put in there I would assume. Perhaps that is the fix? Looking to keep costs down as I do not have tools or space to do this myself and cost from a shop is well over a thousand dollars.

    • @balzarini51
      @balzarini51 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the SYE kit is the best solution for jeeps over 3” look into the hack and tap kits and a good junk yard front shaft for the rear

    My '68 t-bird came with this (factory) on BOTH ends. I was wondering, doesn't all this extra weight rob performance? There's no extreme angle in the car of course, they just did this back in the day for increased ride comfort, right, just to make things as smooth as they can get it but in such a large heavy car, there's no way I'd ever notice if a normal driveshaft were installed. My question is, doesn't it make sense to have a normal driveshaft installed to ditch some weight and rotating mass, since it was overkill, back when gas was dirt cheap?
