@@FlyIlliniFly I played that game for years "we just got to get healthy." They have also lost to BYU, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Iowa State, West Virginia, and UCF. Sure some of those are really not bad losses, but some are and there are a lot. I'm personally of the opinion that once we're past the mid-way point of the season, the only thing that matters is the record and strength of opponents. I'm not saying that they aren't a good team. They clearly are. They could even win it all and have a MUCH higher chance of doing so than BYU, but they still gotta earn the seeding/ranking.

BYU is a dangerous team
If they string together a series of hot shooting nights they could win it all. They won't, but they could definitely go down and ruin some other teams chances.
Or they could lose in the first round in disappointing fashion haha. Never know with this team.

It kind of reminds me of the Pac 12. Any team can win on any given night. It's impossible to tell how good or bad a team is.
Not a fan of either team so this is non biased but most of the 2nd half it looked like the refs lifes were on the line to get kansas a win… ruining college basketball fr. Byu still winning is crazy.
I'm pretty biased, having been to a handful of BYU home games this season.
It really, really feels like there is something going on with the refs. I hope I'm just super-biased and wrong, because the calls have seemed one-sided even in wins like UCF and - to a lesser degree - Baylor.
One game in particular felt like the refs brought the opposing team back into the game in the second half... I'm pretty sure it was Kansas St.

Big 12 Tournament gonna be wild
BYU had 3 starters with 4 fouls and were still able to pull off a comeback in a place no team has won all year.
If they can go deep in the Big 12 tourney, they deserve a 5 seed at least.

BYU was a third place team in the West Coast Conference. They are hanging tough and playing great in their first Big12 season. I would of thought they would be a bottom of the conference team this year.

They have one more Final Four (5) than Arizona, the same amount as Georgetown and Illinois, and one less than UConn, Villanova, Syracuse, and Michigan. With two Final Fours since 2000.
They also hold the record for the most all-time NCAA Tournament wins without a Championship. Their fans come out of the woodwork when they are good.

Believe it or not both teams shot roughly 39% from the floor. The difference was threes.
@@_kuzz_almost all of BYUs attempts are from three they’re the highest attempting team in the league, so even tho they had the same percentage technically byu was shooting way better, they always have a low percentage overall even tho they’re one of the best shooting teams
@@kylewade8704 Valid point which is essentially what I was getting at in the previous comment. Kansas got the same percentage of shots to go down and took three more shots than BYU - the difference was the type of shots they were making and taking.

Don't think BYU will go deep in March. They are wildly inconsistent and have a frequent habit of fading late in the game and blowing leads. But, if they have a good game, they can wreck anyone's night as we saw at Kansas. BYU is definitely not a team you should look past.

The refs in this game should be sanctioned! There were at least 5 calls they missed when Kansas fouled a BYU player, but then they called the most ridiculous crap on the cougars! Home cookin or they wanted to cover their bets. The better team that night won anyway!

BYU did break a 32-home game win streak which is impressive for both teams considering Kansas was able to hold it for that long in the Big 12.

BYU played well, but Kansas is the most overrated team this year. Highest ranked team with 7 losses and they’ve lost FIVE TIMES to unranked opponents, getting absolutely blown out sometimes like their 79 - 50 loss to Texas Tech and losing to West Virginia, a team that is 9 - 19 doesn’t bode well for them making it deep in the tournament, and definitely isn’t deserving of a very high seed.

Kansas overrated
Because BYU was playing so close to the "Garden of Eden"....their magical underwear were sent into 3-point mode! The more Mark Pope does well, the more Kentucky fans start to wonder if he could be the Calipari replacement somewhere down the road.
Considering they don't wear their garments while playing sports and that several of the starters aren't even members of the Church of Jesus Christ, I'm not sure that helped them. But one thing you did get right, Pope is eventually gonna land at Kentucky.
Pope's not leaving Provo so they can forget about that.
