Unless your splitting with a maul then it’s back breaking lol nice video though trying to learn our hardwoods in north Louisiana started cutting and splitting our own wood rather than buying mostly pin oak here wish it would season a bit faster !

    It’s Mike from Australia.
    Love your vids.
We cut and split eucalyptus (gum) trees over here. They are very gnarly and hard, but they burn hot and long.
I would like to see you split some really hard Timbers like ours to see what your opinion is

I have videos on this channel and my other channel (Joe's Firewood Videos) of us splitting elm and hickory which is very difficult to split. Hope you're safe from the wild fires down there? What a tragedy.

      Joe's Firewood Videos II
Hi joe. Yep the fires were very bad. Told you those eucalyptus gum trees burn well. Fortunately we had some rain and big hail storms. Lots of hail damage, but at least it put out most of the fires.
Hopefully they stay that way. Unfortunately we lost 3 of your countrymen flying the water bombers.
      RIP

You can have ALL the "mystery" wood you can haul from our place. I cut it down just so it's not blocking the good hardwood's sunlight and robbing nutrients. I think the saplings provide survival food for the deer in winter and the bears munch on them when they wake up in the spring but otherwise they're pretty useless these days. Basswood used to be made into lightweight packing crates/boxes and was sometimes substituted in place of balsa wood for models but those are bygone eras.
