Good news, can't wait!..... I am dedicated and card carrying member of Gulda Fan Club. I've met and even played with him on one occasion. Great man and musician!
Wow, that's really wonderful that you had the occasion to play with such an outstanding musician. The programm of this recital 1970 on Beethoven's 200. birthday in Bonn was: Bach - Englische Suite g-Moll Beethoven - Eroica Variationen Beethoven - Hammerklaviersonate op. 106 Gulda - Variations über 'Light My Fire' I was there, pretty young, but I remember everything. Greetings!
Yes, I'll never forget that experience. After the concert he invited me to his hotel room where we drunk champagne and talked music and gossiped about Argerich and others, I gave him my CD and got a postcard from Mallorca where he vacationed saying how much he enjoyed my music.
Bravo! His true emotional involvement with Bach's music throughout the live-performance, reminds me of Glenn Gould, but here the similarity stops - even though he plays with the pedals (without the romantic exaggeration and with a careful gentle touch) and uses the piano's dynamic possibilities (again - with a gentle touch), I feel more his authentic performance of Bach himself than Gould's performance, which is more of Gould, sometimes. Thanks for this special upload.
+paulprocopolis Indeed Julian and after the performance, which I attended - he played also Eroica Variations and Op. 106 marvellously - I belonged to Gulda's fan community and so I appreciated him much more than Brendel, the 'other' Austrian.
I certainly do prefer Andras Schiff and Wolfgang Rübsam, but Gulda still is my number three Bach interpreter. I never liked Gould very much though and I hate that many young pianists try to copy Gould's style.
I think I watched this already 50 times, it is so timeless, masterfully played and amazing 👏
Er bleibt einmalig. Seine Perfektion und Genialität sind unerreicht!
Toujours adoré... quel merveilleux artiste... on ne l'oublie pas...
Amazing playing - just what you expect from master musician such as Gulda.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Many thanks - wait..Op. 106 is coming! ;-)

I have to notice that there are at least four ears listening to music in the same way!
It sings so beautifully under his fingers!

OmG. More than perfect. Wie präzise und taktgenau. Wie kann das sein.
...weil er ein Genie war!
Great concentration and control!

Perfection
Sounds like the rendition of someone who was actually acquainted with bach being played in church on an organ...

При всём уважении, некоторые части, особенно 1я, недопоняты, а потому не правильно сыграны.
Gulda was a lousy Bach player
I certainly do prefer Andras Schiff and Wolfgang Rübsam, but Gulda still is my number three Bach interpreter. I never liked Gould very much though and I hate that many young pianists try to copy Gould's style.
"lousy"? Says who? And based in which arguments?
What intelligent comments 🤣🤣🤣
